Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim if you have some 4 week old pullets I'll take 4!

I have to get some pictures of Taffy sitting on her nest; that crazy duck buries herself in the straw and since she is the same color as the straw she blends in quite well!

So BigZ; could you remind us once again what there is to do at this place???? Fishing, playground stuff like that or do they have a web site for the camp???

Ok better get a move on, I have TONS to do and NO TIME!

good morning, DrH , I am picking up the roos on Friday..
Q's are one of my favorite foods.. Neat clean no bones or waste.

I will bring plenty of americaunas.. they are pullets or roos, whichever you want.. LOL they are still to young to tell for sure..

two more guineas hatched this morning.. that puts me over 50%
the guineas have been running about 50% all spring.. since we started letting the guineas loose every day, the egg production in the coop is way down.. I suppose there are a few nests out and about..

I did some research on the Briggs 9.00 series engine last night..
the metric bolt that I was searching for turns out to be a 5/16"-24 thread.. I forgot about the 11th comandment.. Thou shalt not assume.. it will only make an (a$$) out of (u) and (me)

as soon as DD gets here, I am off to town to get my new Briggs engine..

laters..... jiminwisc

I have to go back and catch up on everyone's posts, but just wanted to say......
I'm done with school for 3 weeks!!! and then I will only be doing my externship, so no more homework!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm excited!!
Now you guys won't be able to get rid of me. Oh and now I can give my house that deep cleaning I've been wanting to do.
Talk to everyone later!

Hens and Roos Yep I've got the polyvisol vitamins and give them to him. He/she is a bit better. Seems like when you put your hand in there to pick it up it freaks out and that is when it jumps around and gets a bad spell again. Those guineas are the next thing to being prehistoric as far as domestication goes !!!!!! At least mine are, they don't like human contact although my adults will hang outside of the bedroom window and do all of there honking or what ever you call it. Must have learned that from the cats that cry outside the window when they know I'm in the room letting me know they want in the house.

Jvls1942, yep I do that to although not while watching TV. When I feed and water him/her I massage the neck. It does almost seem like it is muscle spasms doesn't it.

Well, won't give up on the little one. It was a good two weeks old or so when this happened so who knows what the cause is.

I have a silkie that has for the most part recovered from the wry neck. Still kind tilts it head weird when it goes into the dive for the food.

Storm woke me up at 5AM. Biggest thunder I've ever heard. Angels must be having a bowling tournament up there hey???? And alot of strikes !!!!
lau.gif
It just scares the bajeebies out of me that the horses will be ok. They have a nice huge shelter that we built but I keep thinking about two people I've met in the past that had their horses struck and killed by lightening !!!
hit.gif

Kinda sounds like the chickens will be all cooped up today !!! Now I know where that expression came from !!! Poor Girls.

We've had on and off again egg slow downs but I'd say more like the egg size is smaller. I think some are moulting now but it has been going on for a while now. Most of my hens are under 2 yrs old.

Sure hope the truck got fixed yesterday. Have to look up the number and give Dave a call. Then make arrangements for the car to go in.

Stacykins I love the yellow and black one !!!!!! Looks like he is going to be a trouble maker. You gotta keep that one for sure !!! What a little ham !!!
Hope you have better luck then I did when I hatched out 36 pure black Ameraucanas. At first I thought I had tons of hens. When I got my first blue egg I was so excited. Thought I was going to be up to my eyeballs with blue eggs. This was the middle of winter when they started laying so Hubby was doing all of the outside chores, collecting etc. So one day I decide to go check on all of my nice beautiful Ameraucana hens !!! To my surprise my hens had turned into Roos !!!! And before I discovered that I had picked up a couple of Blue Amerauucana Roos for all of my hens !!!!!! So now I have my Ameraucana GANG of Roos that patrol the yard !!! Anybody need an Ameraucana Roo ??? or two ???

Well, I'm rattling here so better go.

Thanks Jim I really appreciate that! We should be there around 9 Sat. I'll bring food for them. Thought about the 5/16-24 running errands this AM. I can still tell by just looking at a thread what it is, but that will pass. Got an inch and 2 tenths in about an hour this morning

funny thing about the choice of "Dead run" he hasn't been told about the possible replacements yet. The thing that bothers me is that he takes such good care of the girls. But he's not a people person.

Congrats Bec!!!!! Looking forward to seeing you soon! Frizz that's so cool about your roo! If he turns out half as nice as Peatwo you'll have someone special there. Man I'm so excited about the Bash this is gonna be so much fun! He He He!

Maybe I missed it but TO any word on the banner? Better movin lots to do!

LOL, your right i shouldn't clean the house at all. I don't know about the rest of you, but it drives me crazy that I can make the house shine, only to have the kids come through and distroy it in a couple hours. Cleaning the house over summer break is hopeless, I'll wait till fall.
Read as much as I could until I went cross-eyed. I'm looking forward to this weekend. Wanted to let FM that all the eggs I was hatching from the blue boy and mottled girls, never hatched. I think the blue boy is shooting blanks or missing the mark. He is young so I'll have to give him some time to prefect his moves. Than I'll make a trip up by you with some chicks. Still me coming to the bash. Everyone else in my family is doing something else. That's just fine with me.
Well I better go get something done on my first day of freedom. Later tators!

If anyone is interested, I have a real pretty black boy, that I was looking to rehome. He will be 1 this august. I can take pics if anyone would like him. Just thought I would mention it.

Wow busy day... sorry about the losses. Carol your cochin boy was gorgeous(and loud) sorry for that loss!

Well after losing my one silkie to the raccoon and my enforcer BSL has lost some feathers near her face also( we found he had ripped the top half of our screen door open at one corner) we have solidified that door and put a trap cam up on it. Of course I am the only thing it takes pictures of on a regular basis. Closing the pop door on a regular basis between coop and run too. It is a pain to do, but want these sweet girls to make it. New silkies seem to be doing ok. This tiny 20 week old pullet will stand up to the biggest birds and pick at them. She has no idea of her size. I am afraid they will pick back at her instead of pushing her away next time.. so far so good though.

Gotta work in my weed bed... I mean garden. Got a good batch of spinach to pick tonight along with the rest of the radishes. Family coming in town from texas on Friday so need to clean the house, but like Becky said... it never stays clean with the kids running through.
Have a good Tuesday

afternoon all,

nice stormy morning. Was soaked walking from the car into school, Had an umbrella but the rain was horizontal.
feed the chickens some corn on the cob last night, the went crazy over it and one greedy bird, grabbed a cob and ran away with it.
Dr. Ha Ha, sounds like Jim is gonna deliver the roos to you. They are beautiful birds, wish I could keep them but I am sure they will be happy at your house.
now to find 2 females to replace them so the lone wyandotte isn't alone, they don't seem to mix with the golden comets well.

stay dry everyone

David
