Late Afternoon all,

Matt! Hope all those without A/C are staying cool- it sure is hot, had to be in town all day and worried that the turkeys would be out of water but when we got home about an hour ago they still had about half a 3gal waterer.

Cind- sorry to hear that the old boy isn't feeling up to snuff these days- it's hard when you have to make a hard choice-

we completely understand having gone through it ourselves with 3 foster dogs and than our old boy about 1 year ago. Like my vet told us- no matter what choice you make, it's the right one.

Picked up needed supplies and will be making some jam and jelly tomorrow- if anyone close to us is interested in learning/refresher shoot me a pm!

Sorry to hear about your son's resturant- shantibirdy, we see that too about people not having renters insurance and than something like this happens- it isn't very expensive either to have insurance! In our 8 years of property management we have had to deal with 5 fires and several families went homeless

Here's the pic now find whats wrong with it/her. Come on all you chickenheads! SHE'S the most inquizitive of all the hens, into everything she shouldn't be. That ought to be hint enough. The funeral was very nice thanks for all the condolences! L barely beat me home and had a cold one waiting.

First one since the bash, very strange other than I was makin wood all week. Dang near a record. FT those are such sad stories! I'm so sorry!

I looked at that CL wagon think that would be a cool way to tour the country! Really see and meet America. Add a couple nest boxes and a small cage for a run and you'd have it made! shanti if I were closer I'd help make hay! I love doing it especially drivin tractor

. The mow is for the young bucks.

But nothing beats the smell of fresh cut hay and the clatter of a sickle mower! Old school! Agree with FT as long as everyone is OK that's the main thing. Bigz you made me go look at our Broc it's gettin dark.

Can't wait to taste test it.

First time growin it didn't know it grew back glad I got up today I learned something so I had to read up too. Cut at an angle to keep the water from rotting the stem above the last leaves.

Hope your FFF comes together we're havin left over L's pizza, aw darn.

As far as the heat we have a window unit it comes out $1 a day on the bill if ran every day. Well well worth it to me! I almost forgot. Remember the xmas decoration I got? I was hauling some good stuff out the BFF's rumage sale and saw one exactly like it only a lot bigger. I saw it and said to the BFF Wow I didn't know you were that well off! [substitute the improper words] Then had to explain the whole thing. TO your "taking it easy" makes me tired. Refer to Jims on/off switch as far as cooking eggs without gas. raim glad you found your cup! It's nice to have fav's! Jim nice find on the road base!

Holy Smokin Hot One....nice pic Doc. My eyes can only see a pretty hen. Nothing wrong with that pic.

Ate the first head of broccoli dipping in suzies ho made salsa...it was deeeelicious. Sparegoose guy called. Just picked up another 10lbs. If you are interested Doc send me a pm. It's in the fridge. Otherwise we will put it in the freezer tomorrow, makin the pile bigger.

Just checked the big coop 94 balmy degrees. That's just plain hot as he** in there.

CC-I totally had that same thought when I looked at the wagon FT liked too! "Wow! that looks like a chicken coop!", Then I thought: "Or a Gypsy's Van", and from there "Now THAT is a chicken tractor!" Great minds do think alike!

I hope everyone did ok in this heat.
The rabbits faired ok and they used 2 frozen jugs today! I have more in the freezer for tomorrow.
I can't say that the chickens did ok though.

I lost a barred rock-and of course it was the better barred of the two. I have their carrier shaded in their pen for them to hide in and she must have gone in to hide and got too hot. The other barred rock looks very punkie too but the Cal whites and Buzzy are just fine. Cornie is holding his own in the heat which surprised me. I was prepared to loose him today. Not a Bardie! Ah well, you win some and you loose some I guess.

Well, off to Pm H&R and then play some majong on the computer....night all!

DrH sorry the loss of your young BIL. Your hen looks good to me but what do I know?
We got a window a/c unit from my sister and her DH and this is the first time we tried it. Will be nice to sleep tonight but won't use it much $$$$$$$$.

Thankfully I was not stuck at work until 8 again tonight. Even with AC the Lab was a balmy 78*. Wonderful temp with humidity to wear jeans and a full length lab coat! Looking forward to a slightly cooler day tomorrow, and possibly some shopping to prepare for the 4th and out little mini vacation.

I never know where to plant garlic.. I planted some behind the garage years ago.. I wonder if it is still there.. ? wouldn't that be a hoot if I had a patch of it.. LOL

Annie passed a really bad accident just a couple of miles from our house.. She said it looked like somebody went through the windshield.. and people laying all about on the grass next to the road.... Not a blind spot in the road, just somebody not paying attention, i guess..

the ambulance and police were not there yet..

gotta get mom to bed,, see uall later..

Dr H, that "hen" looks like some I had..they look like hens, but do not lay eggs..

Dr. Ha Ha, I'm thinking your hen is a roo. It has the curly tail feather like a drake does and what appears to be a spur nub on one leg. Does it have one extra toe on one foot or is that just the way the photo was taken?

Cind, I am so sad to hear Duke isn't doing well. He is such a sweetie. My sis has a monster dog that is 14 & she has her good days & bad days. She has been doing remarkably well lately, so here's hoping Duke shall do the same.

DrH, so sorry to hear about your BIL. That is never easy, & yes, cancer does stink, big time. Lost an aunt to leukemia at 46 & an uncle to Lou Gehrig's. Hope P2 is ok, poor guy. Can't see anything obvious wrong with your hen. She looks like some of mine, and just as bald.
FT, so sorry to hear of your family tragedies.

So where are the pics already???????? They gonna live in your snazzy new trailer?

Or pull it? And if you bring that wagon to the bash, you better leave at least a week in advance so you get there on time.

Shanti, good luck on the hay making tomorrow. I hope the weather cools off some for you. And I'm still sending positive thoughts your way that your son's business will be able to recover soon.

Awww, MLH, I am so sorry you lost a hen.

Well, I sure hope everyone made it through this heat ok. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I feel for those without A/C. On these hot days, sometimes I will keep the house closed up all day & run the fan on the furnace to blow cool air up from the basement. DH came home from work one day & thought the A/C was on. Hope it might work for someone. Try to stay cool, everyone, and stay safe.
