Good Morning all, Is still morning when I started typing (11:55am)
Jvls1942, I talked to the guy who I got my peacocks from and asked him about hatching peachicks. He said they that 28-30 days. The temp & humidity are the same. I told him that your chicks were a bit weak and he offered these suggestions:
He said if the eggs were a bit on the older side say a week, they will be weaker. He said the fresher the better. He said alot of the time people will hold on to the eggs while they collect them one at a time and the first ones can be on the older side thus causing these kind of problems. Plus he said with the weather being so warm the eggs can start to develop while you are holding them which would explain some hatching a few days before they are due. Then he said that if they do start to develope and aren't put in the bator of course the started embryos will die before they even make it to the bator, again, no hatch.
That's all he could offer, basically he said they should ideally be put in the bator the day after they are layed. He hatches out quite a few eggs so I think he know what he is doing. It would be hard to not hold off on putting them in if you only have a few birds laying though.
Oh and I hear ya on the not making plans everyday !!! Even if I do make plans Poop happens and those things don't get done anyway. Plus after feeding and watering all the animals I feel like I've put in a day and a halfs worth of work. One thing on my list for the last two months is making nipple waterers. (Now just need to find the small box they came in !!!
) That will save me tons of time each day !!
Hey Jim, are you still going to the swap in Elcho on the 9th? Whatcha bringing?
BL4 That is good news on the accident. Maybe all of our positive thoughts made a difference.
Homemade jams & Jellies YUM !!! I made some a few years ago and still have some, made tons of apple jelly since we have alot of apple trees. I'll have to bring some up from the basement.
Cind, hope that wrist gets to feeling better, you need to get that tractor finished !!
Dr Ha, my only question for you is why is L's parking spot in the Mud??? What a gentleman !! I suppose you lay down your Tshirt for her when necessary????
Happy Belated Birthday Trixie !!! You and Butt dog (Buttons) are the same age. We figure her BD is about August 1st give or take.
We went to the town of Monico's fireworks last night. VERY nice for a small town. As you drive by if you blink you'll never know you went thru town. Anyway Butt Dog came with. She's no Chicken
She sat in the truck the whole time, not a peep
out of her !!! At the end we even brought her out and she didn't seem one bit afraid of them. She was watching all of the people go by. It was past her supper time so she was seeing who had food !!
They had brats earlier in the day there and I'm sure with her good sniffer that's all she had on her mind.
As you may recall she is a pleasently plump little girl.
Thanks for all the Fish Oil info guys. I'll find what I have around here and use it up first then buy the burpless kind
Celtic, I'd put a sign up "BALLOON RIDES $50", Collect the money, then dash into the house and let those guys deal with the line of people waiting for a ride !!!
Well, gonna grab another cup of coffee and check out CL before my day begins. I think I'm gonna help ET today. This ought to be fun !!!!
