Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning All! Have the splitter hooked up and ready to go, gonna eat something and head to the kids place. Told him I'd be there early. He asked how early? Said around 8. He thought that was early enough

Boy is he gonna be surprised! Turns out I lied about the camper fridge. The freezer section got cold but not freezing temp and the fridge section never did get cold. Think it's not getting enough elec, still a bad connection somewhere. It works on gas.

Better get moving, have a good one!

I'm back from Alaska, and I must say the weather there was much better. I like it cool, like 60-70. I had a little meltdown in the airport and threw my 45 lb box of halibut on the floor. My poor kids. It was a terrible flight back then I had to go through the airport with 2 kids and too much luggage. Trying to get to the taxis was ridiculous. Go down a floor, walk a ways, then go back up a floor. After my tantrum I finally rented a cart. We stopped in Denver and my husband got off there (he works in Denver) with our other box of fish. I think I'd be in jail right now if I would have had both boxes. Airport security would have come and got me with a tazer.

Aww, come on! That's half the fun! Hehehhe.

Ok, so my little guy was 6 months before the chicks came along. But a grab-hands now almost 1 year old and a 2 year old with chicks of varying sizes does present a time suck. Hehehehe.

Got a phone call today and both tillers are done and ready to get picked up !!!! Funny, they've been at the shop for over a month. I called them at 4PM yesterday and they said they were close to being looked at and they could maybe get the small mantis looked at and fixed by the weekend.
Now they are both done !!! Must not have needed any parts hey? He left a message so don't know how much !! Good thing they don't charge a storage fee.

Our bigger one is a troy built that was here with the house when we bought it. The neighbor wants to buy it real bad but we said no, He said we could borrow it and it would be kept in good repair. We told him he could borrow it and keep it in good repair !!!
lau.gif
Maybe we should drop off the snowblower when we pick up the tillers ???
lau.gif

Anyway, Jim, talk to Chuck on Saturday about your tiller and grinding the whatever you call them. He is a grinder you know !!! He is good, he grinds on my nerves all day long !!
lau.gif

BL4 Hope those ducks are hatching like popcorn !!! Mother nature does a better job then any incubator can. We want pictures please.

I've got 3 out or 4 guineas hatched. Think that might be it. But never know

Carol, I got your email, I replied. Will post the horse as soon as I hear back from you.

Well folkes that's all for now !!

Oh and I'd love to see some pictures of the hostas. If anything, let them grow nice and big and bring them to the Bash next year !!

And for all you bator hatchers, in case you missed the post above, check out this post. Learned alot https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=491013

Hi all, another beeeuutiful day in Wisconsin..

Had Rocky come and check out the toilet.. water would not come in.. thought it was the shut off valve.. turned out the supply line has a check valve in it.. It got too sensitive and would not allow water through..

The pea chick is doing very well.. up and running around with the banties and guineas.. even though I know better, I am tempted to keep him..

filled up the barrel with water..letting it warm up in the sun.. we did not get any rain last night..

not much going on around here.. more guinea and turkey eggs pipping..

I am going to a swap in Elcho this Saturday.. If anybody is interested, I have the address.. it will be 8am til noon..

I remember a lot of you dog owners mentioning that your dogs were terrified of the fireworks &/or thunderstorms. I received an e-mail from the humane society down here & it had this neat sounding product for your type of dogs. They're $35 though, but if they work, then they might be worth it, maybe?

I'll leave that up to you.

I just feel so bad when animals are scared........

With its patent-pending design, Thundershirt’s gentle, constant pressure has a dramatic calming effect for most dogs if they are anxious, fearful or over-excited.

I don't know how comfy they would be on a hot day, though, but it's usually kinda cool during thunderstorms? Maybe? Just trying to help.

Oh, and glad to hear FT, got your tillers back, Jim, that the pea chick is doing better (good luck at the swap), Cind, your wrist is a little better, and BBP, that you are back. Sorry to hear about the meltdown. Completely understandable coming from that weather to this.

Good afternoon! Came home from the fair for a "breather" and to water the animals that I didnt this morning. Now I am relaxing with a coke before going back. Probably have to pick up DH at the airport in Milw. tonight...

I also printed up this pic to post on the empty cage I have for old duck. It will say "sorry I couldnt come to the fair, I have a family to take care of!

I hate having an empty cage there! The other birds are looking good though...there was a muskovy next to mine that had bubbly eyes this morning...I informed the Superintendent. She let me move my duck down 2 cages. I feel sorry for the little calls on the back side. Hopefully thye will take it home!

Well I better get back. DD needs to ride her trail class...it is all gravy for now cause she has already qualified for state! (beat out her biggest threat too!)
Stay cool and get lots done on this most gorgeous day! Terri O

(PS) about that Thunder Shirt...one of the dogs that I walk (black lab) wears one and their owners said that it really helps. If you get a smallish t-shirt for your dog it is really the same thing though...I'd save the $35!

Afternoon All,
Well I was able to start the mower by myself this morning, so that is good.
I was on my way to my 'job' watching my niece , when I saw this huge 18 inch from nose to tail aligator snapping turtle trying to cross the road, so I went out, grabbed a shirt and moved it. That road has a LOT of dead things on it...
Got her off to her class, then off to grain client horses whilst she was in skool. Feed her, me and then off to show Zeus to a gal who had emailed me. It went well they are going to try him tomorrow morning.

here is a pic of my niece after the wedding, she was the flower girl
DSCF3655.jpg

I got her the dress around easter, and got her the tiara the day before the wedding. My friend, who's son it was getting married gave her the basket.
I just wanted to share!

CC and Terri....thanks for the info on the thundershirt. I will first try the small t-shirt idea on Mitch to see how he responds. I don't like drugging him, but he just falls to pieces with thunder and fireworks and makes a mess of my floors if I can't get him to hide in the shower in time!

And hope things continue to go well at the fair! My DD and I did our fair a couple of years ago with our ducks and had a great time. Good folks to meet and talk with while you're hanging out by the cages. Congrats to your DD!

Cind, what did the vet say about dear Duke?

Put in an order for some leg bands for my flock and testing supplies/antigen for pullorum testing, so should be up and running with that soon. Will be able to test out everything within 2 months so I can submit for NPIP status. I just need these most recent chicks to reach 4 months of age to finish testing them all. Antigen is dated good until next July, so that will get me through next spring's hatch as well.

For those of you that show, what do you do for caging up at home and transport? Do you have to bring show cages like cararies or does the show provide the show coops? Any special food/water cups?

Would really like to show my silkie pullets this fall for grins, hope to make some of the shows MLH listed for me.

The Wisconsin International Poultry Show in Portage, WI on Sept 25-26
West Central Wisconsin Pigeon and Poultry Club Annual Fall Show in Menomonie on October 1;
Beaver Dam Pigeon and Bantam Show and swap in Beaver Dam October 15-16;
Wisconsin Bird and Game breeders Show and Swap In Fond du Lac Oct 29. (Chickens? or just Game Birds?);
National chicken show-Cross Roads in Indianapolis October 28-30.

If I decide to head down to Indianapolis in October, will have to bring as many lavender Ameraucanas and bantam lavender Ameraucanas as I can manage as this is a qualifying show for them. Got a good friend in Indy that I could stay with down there. Used to live there for a year.
