Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sorry for the long wait folks.... DRUM ROLL PLS!!!

I got my niece a pony, I didn't want to jinx it, because we have had some odd experiences trying to get her one..
AND a spare.. the full brother to her pony. They are 8 and 9 yrs old, broke to ride and drive, been ridden by kids, ( I will post pics of the former owners kids later)
SO here is Prince and Albert, Now named Prince Charming, and Aladdin - aka "Ladie". Prince has the blaze and the lighter mane.
Shetlands or shetland/mini mix, but good size.

DrH... I've heard about the "root jerk" too... it shocks the plant into thinking it's going to die soon so it seeds quicker. Another thing you could do is put a block of ice by it, even let a few leaves touch it. The cold does the same thing, but if you have allot of plants, that's allot of ice.

dkv... nice pics!!!

Jim... 50# a day!!!

Ruddy did a bit better today, I think. We ere gone to the auction all day so I don't know how he was when we were gone. Didn't get anything we went to get but still got some good deals! I got 5 boxes of books for a total of $7.50 The 3 books I really wanted would have cost more than that used! I picked out the ones I wanted and the heaping box that was left will go to my rummage sale. Got 2 boxes of "junk" for 2.50 because there was a brass mortar and pestal in the 1 box worth about $30. Some of their contents may wind up at the next white elephant!

I got 50' of 4' chain-link fence for $5.... brand new!!!
wee.gif
I missed the 80' lot of used but per foot it came out to much more and the guy that bought it tried to sell it to us for $100! ummm...NO! Got a brand new, in box, wood screen door for $7 that's going in the coop. And I got a weather worn, but very sturdy picnic table for $10! It needs paint, but I can use the used once, paint sprayer I got for $5 to paint it.

They had some sheds there that went pretty cheap but would have had to take them apart and moved them that day!

They were also going to sell some chickens but they were 4yr old RIR and the 4 of them only gave 1 egg a day.

Didn't stick around to see if they sold them. Long day!

Night all!

Bigz I have one barren pep plant might give it a tug today while I'm pickin stuff. Makin stuffed peppers for supper and taking some over for the kids later today.

Better get movin before it gets hotter!

Well off to a long day again, to a hot day, stay cool all!!

Dolma is an awesome food that uses young grape leaves, you can also do a great recipe using the grape leaves with a rice and olive oil, olives, dried tomatoes, and some Italian sausage.
Just some thoughts there, I think I ate stuff like that at Greek-fest in Sacramento CA, when I used to live there.

have a great day all
Carol

bbp, no.. those day olds can barely walk, those guineas would plow them under in no time flat. but you knew that,, she didn't..

deb, you are prolly out on the river in your yacht having coffee right about now.. I hope you keep your feet dry.. nothing like hot coffee and cold wet feet..

I called the fixit shop.. they "might" have the pulleys I need.. with my luck they will have just one, while I need two..

I better get going before they sell even that one to somebody else..

...........jiminwisc.......

Morning All...nice pics, thanks for sharing them.

The July news letter from the APA arrived Saturday. Finally had a chance to read it. As most of you with marans prolly know, they had a successful qualifying meet held in February. The new description takes up 2 1/2 pages. Just a heads up that anyone with the "English Type" (clean legged marans) will be a disqualification....the SOP is going to recognize the french standard of lightly feathered legs and toes.

Glad Ruddy is working out cind. Jim be careful with that tractor....they hurt like heck if they fall on you!

Time for a little garden work.

So much talk over the weekend, so to sum up: congrats on the harvests, the new ponies, plants, sold birds; sorry for losses, tipping tractors, broken mowers; and wonderful pics to all who posted. There.

Was up north this weekend, had a terrifically good time with my two best childhood friends. Coffee chat and a surprise baby shower for my friend who is expecting her first in Nov.

Had some good quality time with family too. A nasty little storm went thru and knocked out my parents' power from 2pm Sat until 8am Sun. AND the storm took down a tent during an outdoor wedding in town, some people had to go to the ER. Guess it was mayhem, pretty scary.
sad.png
Oh, and right after the storm we watched a WOLF walk thru my folks' pasture behind the garden! He stopped and looked right at the house for a couple minutes. They are getting thicker and braver.

My oldest is spending the week with my parents and brothers. I'm taking the opportunity to sort thru every toy in this house. Have a nice day everybody!
