Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning!~mine is a lazy one today...I think I did not sleep real well at the 3 dog house on Saturday night. THe one kept barking and waking me up...then there was that nice T-storm in the morning...oh well. So not caught up on sleep...
So much to comment on! I will try; because I have questions...and comments!
DrH--I PMed you about the pickles. I also think that you would be wise to process the B&B recipe because of the added ingredients. (mostly the onions since they are grown under ground)
Cind--I sure wish your links worked...I got "server not found" on all of them and you smileys seemed not to be working in your message either...something on your machine? Next I am going to do some googling and see if I can find anything about the difference. In the link I posted Chamomile was also called Mayweed...
Deb---I have never heard of a statewide ban on selling small parcels either. Here in Jefferson we have something about dividing farms for homesites and the amount of land...supposed to protect out "agricultural roots" BAH! I think it all depends on how much money you have if you get permission to divide and build...at least here.
Jim, dear Jim...how can you NOT like zucchini??? A gardener like yourself? I dont know what was wrong with your pigs but that was a favorite food with mine...they had to fight me for it though! It is so versatile. You just cant cook it too much. I made a really delicious tomato/zucchini thing at work on Friday...all the old folks LOVED it! I am sure you would too....C'mon, wont you try it? (I will not eat green eggs and ham I will not eat them Jim I am...)
Dornes...you have christened my screen with coffee this morning! I thought I was safe with your post but the Jambalaya comment got me! Before I got on here I was perusing another cookbook for something to make tonight and the was one of my choices...maybe that was why it was so funny? Who knows. The Cubalaya (yup, had to try it for myself) has got to be the name of the bird that I got from a Cuban lady! Her husbend told me it was a Phoenix but it never really grows a longer tail. I thought it was just because he is free range, but that pic is a dead ringer for him. He is a very friendly sort too, and very nice with the ladies. Too bad his name is Phoenix....
DrH--about that family reunion....what can I say? I thought my nephew's college grad party was on Sunday and we had to decide between that and the pig roast...nope, it was on Saturday! At least you didnt miss your party! I wonder if my brother is ticked with me...he didnt answer him phone when I called...and I just started taking a supplement called "Unforgettables" I guess it's not working yet....

Jim I will say you have a good attitude about feeding your predators! Dont you just hate when CL flags your ads? The ad police get my eggs for sale every time! I think it is someone that wants to sell theirs! Drives me nuts!

Well, I guess I better get out and free the critters...I only have the torts out so far. Oh yeah, that ad for the land tortoise? Probably a Sulcata, they get to me 300 pounds or so...and DONT hibernate. If I lived in AZ I would have a whole yard of them. THey are very interesting animals...but you need to put them in your will! Have a fantastic day everyone...I am thinking I might try making some GF bread today...not so hot-thank the Good Lord! Later--Terri O

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the info on a realtor...we haven't had to deal with a realtor as of yet, due to us buying our home as a transfer from DH's parents. So, I needed to know all that!! Otherwise I would have let him listed it for what he came up with!! He reminded me of that jock from high school. He was pumping himself up saying that he was ranked number 13 in selling homes. I will find homes around this area, and justify a price myself. We live in a very demanding area to live (i mean a place where people want to live) hardly any crime, close to the city, but in the country. We are halfway between MKE and Madison, I think we are in a very desireable location. But what do I know, I'm only 25
hide.gif
I think we can get 190-200k for our home as it sits now. It was apprasied late of 09 for 196k, and we have put in new air conditioner, new furnace, new water pressure tank, new water softner, new fridge, stove and washer/dryer since the apprasial. I think that at LEAST counts for 4k. lol. I think we could go down to 180k, but thats a minimum. Otherwise whats the point of having equity? I mean really...Altho our national credit rating went down, so before we are even back to our feet we are getting kicked down again. The housing market will probably take another dive. Good for buyers, sucky for sellers!!

I doubt we will do a CSA. It's not only all the time on the crops, but also on organizing drop off sites, farm visits yadda yadda. But that was good advice Jim. If we have extra produce i'm just as fine as putting a cart on the road with a money box. Hubby does this sort of thing when he gets frustrated with his job, altho working for himself is always something he wanted to do. I can say that is at least consistent.

Jim) Thanks for the duck info too. He was in with a drake and they never fought, so he must just be super excitied that they are in there. I kinda feel bad for them tho, they are scared of this huge duck! lol.

DrH) Losin' it eh?

caf.gif
keeping an eye on everybody here. My AAADDD or whatever we are calling it these days on here is making it way to much work for me to remember who said what and what I wanted to say so please don't feel offended if I'm not replying to you all !!!! My brain farts have turned into brain diarhea or something and my mind is like a blank slate !!!

Took a trip down to Pound WI to pick up some more of that burger for $2.25 lb. Visited with the couple. Talked goats (she has about 15) looked at her Moms mini ponies, donkeys and standard donkey Earl who I fell in love with. I don't know why is it I have my own horses, donkeys and goats to look at but it is fun to look at other peoples
idunno.gif

She got a dozen chicken eggs and hatched out 6 in an aquarium with a light bulb, I was pretty impressed or was it 2 dozen ?????? AAADDDDddddddddddddd......

Stopped on the way home and had a Oreo Flurry or whatever they called it for Supper !!!!

Never did make the Salads when we got home after dark. Hello, my name is Sandi and I'm a Ice Cream Junkie !!!!!!! I've decided I'm going to be the Ice Cream Lady for the Bash again next year !!! I loved the left overs !!!

droolin.gif

Only one question Dr Haha, why didn't you just drop off the pies instead of doing a drive by and just waving at everybody ????
lau.gif

So are you baking more pies for next week?

Oh and Jim, Lucky you hatched out so many guinea keets. Isn't that something how they are suppose to be such good watchers and then they get gobbled up themselves. I'm down to 6 from my original 11-13, don't remember. (AAADDD) Geezzzz wish they weren't so dumb !!!

My eggs are still very small and my duck aren't laying well at all anymore. Any ideas??? I think I may take this opportunity to deworm them all with pour on ivermectin. That will take care of both worms and mite/lice if they have them.
Have to call a bunch of gravel pits and ask about sand for my round pen. Does anyone know if mason sand would not have many stones? Or what would you ask for to use for an arena or round pen for horses? This is not horse country up here and they don't seem to realize that you don't want stones that can cause bruising !!!
barnie.gif
You would think sand would be easy to find up here but it isn't.
Now that all the horses and dogs are vaccinated, time for the goats. That ought to be fun !!!

Oh and Jim, as far as Peacocks, I know they don't lay all year but as far as that I don't know much else. I'm going to go lurking on the peacock threads one of these days to learn more about them. I feed mine meatbird crumbles. Higher protien.

Ok so now I'm back to lurking and enjoying all of your posts

Hi all!

mrandmrschicken-I PM'd you the info for the Portage show....hope to meet you if you go!

FT-nothing is better the Ice Cream for dinner! Sand for a round pen.....what about leveling sand or is that mason sand? I used to ride at a place in Cali that the owner put in that shredded rubber footing in her main dressage area. It was slick (as in cool...sweet...neat...awesome not slippery LOL!!)! It was amazing how much better the horses felt on it. They seemed to really move better. Found this article, don't know if it will help?:

TO-had something to tell you and yep, you guessed it! I forgot!!!

I wanna see a deer. All I ever see are turkeys. I think I've only seen two maybe three deer since we moved herr a year and a half ago!!

Ok this is a rant so you can skip it if you want. I'm doing this to finally let it go mentally....*sigh*

Well, I have had it with Wal-Mart and am never going to spend anther dime in their store. While I understand that they have terrible service because their items/products are so cheap, I still have standards. I mean heck what do you except, it's Wal Mart! This particular WM is not one of the better ones as far as check outs go and such. I have been in lines with 6 or 7 carts/people in front of me and only two "full" registers open. One of those being the tobacco bar. I have seen managers and assistant managers standing around in front of the registers talking about their weekend and not doing a thing to open another register to help people get check out faster. I have asked for other lanes to be open and was told no one was available....yet managers can talk about their weekends and not help out the registers?!? And before you ask, I shop on Monday mornings, after a weekend because our WM sucks so bad, I figure I'm better off if there are less customers in the store
I have seen a manager scream at an employee on the selling floor in front of customers because he put a display up wrong (this happened in Nashville). I have even been told that I had two many (25) items to go through the 20 item or less registers.

Anyway, today I needed to get some water jugs and grocery shop. When I pulled into the parking lot, the carts were all willie nillie and it looked like a bunch of Zombie Carts had a plan to destroy the cars in the lot. I parked my truck well away from impending Zombie Cart attacks and the store entrance and went in, got my water and checked out. (I could use the 20 items or less lane since I had less then 20 items). I proceeded to put my stuff in the truck and take my cart to a cluster of carts that were occuping (sp) a parking space about 3 spaces away from my truck. (I normally walk my cart to the corrals or take it into the store and go to the Subway for a treat.) Anyway, by then the Cart Collector Kid is wrestling with the carts in the next lane over the grass divider from where I'm at. I stuff my cart into another cart in the cluster thinking to save the kid some work. Then the CCK hoofs it over the grass divider and says "Excuse me Mam?" in a polite voice. To which I"m thinking "Oh man did something happen to my truck? Before I ask, he then proceeds to lecture me on how if I don't put my cart back into one of the Corals, I'm liable for any damage that cart does to other cars it might hit! WHAT THE HE!! !!! Did you just say I'm liable????? Needless to say I saw red! I made some smart butt comment about how I highly doubt I'm liable when you hardly care that carts are everywhere in the parking lot and not in the corrals. I was walking away as he was still lecturing.... I proceeded to go to another supermarket to shop. I usually get my water jugs first since they are heavy then go do the rest of my grocery shopping. Once I was done shopping, I called the manager of WM and told him I was never going to spend another dime in Wal Mart again. He asked why and I gave him an earfull. I actually apologized for raising my voice to him and that I really did not want the kid to get yelled at, but I felt that the kid could have handled the situation a lot differently and pleasantly with a "Here! Let me get that cart for you and Thank you for shopping at Wal Mart". I also said that wether I'd be technically liable or not if my cart hit something, it is not that kids place to lecture me! The manager agreed and agreed to have a talk with the kid because that never should have happened and the kid did not need to lecture me on cart safety (Ya Think!!!) and he did apologized profusely. I'm still done with Wal Mart though. That was the final straw....

Ok rant over....thanks for letting me vent!!

Now, I've got to go move rabbits....
Later!

Hi everyone,

On the way home Saturday evening, I passed an Amish Farm and had a shock. Right next to the house (near the road) were two young Amish Men. They had hobbled a horse and pulled him down on his knees. At the same time both men were BEATING the horse with long buggy whips. I mean hitting as hard as they could! I called the Waushara County Sheriffs Dept and they promised to look into it. I should have pulled over videotaped them and screamed at them to stop. I could have sent the video to the Sheriff, ASPCA, U Tube, television Station and PETA. I'm still steaming about this. I'll bet the Cops did nothing since the Amish seem to be protected by their Religion. Grrrrrr

shopping carts all over the parking lot is like the first cigarette butt in the urinal.. If you can avoid that first one, none will follow..

I had a cart full at Sam's club one time.. somebody (an employee) ticked me off at the checkout line so I just left my cart in line and I left the store..

I often heard that the Amish are like the horse whisperer.. That is a strange way of whispering.. and you are correct,, the county mounties are very lax in investigating the Amish.. Did you call the sherrif's dept and ask what they did about it ? that would be interesting.. they would prolly lie to you anyway and tell you that they had a talk with them.. I hate to be cynical,, oh wait,,, no I don't..

.FT mason sand is rock free.. and it is expensive.. wouldn't a sand/clay mix be better ? I would think something that could be wet down to keep the dust from blowing.. find out what they use on horse racing tracks..

how about wood chips ??

I am taking a break from the garage project.. I have found a half of a wheelbarow full of tools already.. I have to keep fighting my aaddd .. like trying to find a tiny screw to fit a toggle switch that I probably will never use anyway.. Damh !!!

I did find at least 2 dozen assorted socket wrenches.. 4 belt sanders, (none of which work).. lots of drill bits, a few screw drivers.. 2 welding vice grips..a couple dozen wrenches .. and lots of other tools... and I am only half way through the garage..

Annie just told me the Ukokkei are out of water.. the waterer must have leaked..

later.. ..............jiminwisc.........

Wow,

That royally pisses me off !!!! I too would call the sheriffs department and ask for the incident report. If you send me the info I'll call. I would also make it a point to drive by on a regular basis and check things out !! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR .
Good thing it wasn't me that saw that !!! I'd have to be bailed out of someplace !!!!

What township was this in? Do you know the names of the Amish farm? Pm me if you want to. I am buying a cart from an amish man and I've boughten harness's from them. I would definately not do business with that family.

Was it a draft horse or ???

G*d D*m that ticks me off !!!
