Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yep Kristi - that is the sister to the two that I have
smile.png
Aren't they just the awesomest chickens? I would say she is my most friendly and happily clucking chicken I have in my flock.
smile.png
My RIR Gretta has kinda turned into a "back-side-hole" since the turkeys were released into "her" pen.. Hoping that once the turkeys are gone she gets friendly again.

I am afraid to hold onto any of the chickens during the day because Tom Turkey comes after me to attack when he hears them happy clucking as I pet them. I can't wait until he hits the freezer and I can have my serenity time back in my chicken run. Or hubby and I need to hurry up on the new coop runs so that the meat birds get that run to themselves.

DO yep I emailed about the peachicks but to tell ya the truth I don't even remember what the ad said or what I said !!!

AAaaaDDDaadddd working fine this morning !!

No I won't take them all !!!
I'd really just like a one year old hen.

Now I have a new dilema (sp) I found a goat wether that is in the UP, free on CL. They said they would meet me in Escanaba at the fair tomorrow. So Number one, DH ET blew a tire on our horse trailer last week so I will need to get that fixed first !!!
barnie.gif
More money and 60 mile round trip to town !!
barnie.gif

Second, I have to convince DH ET that we need this goat !!! He is tricolor fainter with horns. All of my goats have horns. Wouldn't be fair to get one that doesn't have them.

So Thirdly, how do you all transport goats? Would I need the trailer (which is what I always used before) or can they go in a really large dog crate in the back of the truck ??? It will be about 110 mile trip back home for the little guy.

There is also a gorgeous POA pony on CL that I want. She drives !!! I know I can't get both !!! Getting the goat will be pushing it !!!

Hopefully my Cart will be here soon !!!

Good morning friends! Imagine my surprise when the two pips from yesterday turned onto 4 little guineas staring at me when I took the blanket off the bator this morning!
smile.png
I am glad I have the two in the CTV already...they are teaching the new ones to eat and drink...yeah!
Last night before bead I found a teeny tiny litte finch on the floor of their cage sitting under the button quail! For a secone I though she had hatched a baby but then realized what it was. I popped it back into the nest and it was back out on the floor this AM. I warmed it up and put it in another nest with some warm eggs. I dont have a lot of hope for it...it's eyes are just open and it could fit on a nickel. It has the cutest little beak. It opened up for me to feed it and there are little white dots on it's tongue like a "put food here" sign! Way adorable!
Everyone sounds like they have their work cut out/planned out for them today. I actually moved my clients to tomorrow cause I am helping DD19 move into her school apartment in Madison today. Not sure how much I will really be doing; DD25 took off to help too! And her BF is here too...actually, maybe I will just stay home!

There might be way too many opinions going on...and of course being the MOM mine will count for way less than one!
barnie.gif

According to DH the truck was just out of gas...well the gauge said a quarter of a tank and I know I have driven it down to double E. Will see I guess...

Jim about those quail...I give mine an 8x8 pan of dirt to dust-bathe in and they always lay their eggs in the pan. I had SIX yesterday! I am thinking about popping them into the bator in a day or two...right now I have been pickling all the eggs. I have an idea of selling them at the taverns at either end of my road.
Deb you sound like me when DH is out of town...so much to get accomplished! But you are a little different in one aspect...sounds like you actually move forward with your projects!

I'm with ODrH, the hard part is getting started!
Speaking of getting started...guess it is that time! Maybe I can get something done around here before the kids get back from taking cans in (if the AAADDDD doesnt kick in)...they have been collecting them all summer and already have $1000 in the vacation account! Maybe I need to start doing it?
Have a fantastic day all! Terri O

ETA: What you could do with it is just tie the legs and put it in the trunk...that is what the people do that buy mine! IT will be fine in a dog crate...I am not sure how big fainters are but I think they are on the smaller side? Hey, if you want a black half pygmy that is a real pest let me know...he wants to be a pet. Walks on a lead and everything!

CC--you shoulda stopped by...I would have given you a big bag of cukes to balance on your bike!

Hey, TO or anyone else that pickles eggs !!! I'd love some recipes. The bar I sell my eggs to sells large pickled eggs for a buck each. I thought I could pickle the small silke and bantam eggs. The ones he sells have onions in with them. Very good. He is saving me the small glass jars he gets from the pig knuckles and giggards. They have plastic tops but if you use them right away what's the difference.

Lots to do around here today, but if I keep reading and seeing what you all are up too it will tire me out and I'll have another day like yesterday,, Zip for getting anything done on the list !!!

Weather is beautiful again today !!!! Enjoy everyone !! MLH thanks !!

TO Got any pictures of that goat ?? Does he have horns? All of mine have horns. Don't think it would be fair to get get one that doesn't. I have to get some pictures of my goats and post here. They are all "my boys"

My 89 yr old aunt keeps repeating to my sister "Why the hell did she get boy goats !!! What the hell can you do with a male goat, you can't milk 'em !!...... " Repeats this several times in the same conversation with me as well. It used to be "What are you gonna do when the chickens quit laying, eat em?" This is before they even started laying !!! Oh and in the spring it was "Did ya spray the apple trees yet?" And of course she tells everyone that I haven't sprayed the apple trees, can't milk male goats and ............... !! Yesterday I told her that I did spray the apple trees but only once !!! Think that was the first time I ever fibbed to her !!!!

Well maybe not

Who on this thread was an NPIP flock tester? And if you were close enough - what info do I need if you can test my flock. If you are too far - how do I find an NPIP tester in my area?

What, FT???????????? You're not going to buy them all??????????

I don't think Jim needs to deal with any more customers than he already has. Although I hear he does have a fondness for backsideholes.

FT, the people down at 7 Mile Fair sell & transport their goats in large dog kennels. If the kennel is big enough to fit him, I can't see why you couldn't use it.

You sure put on a lot of miles for your critters, don't you? Maybe you or ET should become OTR drivers. Then you could pick up your animals while still getting paid.

Dornes, I think, but don't quote me (AAADD, ya know) that BBP was the flock tester? Maybe?

Speaking of BBP, do you still have that pretty, friendly roo that you were looking to rehome?
