Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning Everybody! Wow miss a day...... Too much to read and comprehend. Getting things crossed of the list need to add more

Today borrowing a pressure washer and cleaning the camper to put the roof material on. Wish there was some wind today to dry it so I can put on the first coat. And wash the chicken [picnic] table, saw horses, and pull and blow out the kitchen sink drain pipes. Washed and sanitized all the waterers yesterday. Silly Peatwo! I took away his personal roost in hopes that he would take over the main roosting ladder. He's been sleeping in one of the nest boxes. Think the older hens won't let him up there they haven't accepted him as the alpha yet.

Hoping within the next couple of weeks that the girls will start laying again. It's gotta be 2 a month drought. Better get a move on.

Here he is again. I guess its a South American chicken kept by the tribes but was originally brought over from Japan. The egg I hatched him from was accidently sent to me. He is a Nikkeii/Mapuche if you search it on BYC there is a posting about them.

Heres some pictures of the inside of the coop. That part is done (just need doors and add in a window and ventilation). We need to get the runs put in. I hope to have the birds moved over to the new coop area Sept 1.

Brooding box/ chicken rehab/integration/quarantine area (all that stuff that is there now will be taken out of the coop area and put into the garage. We are still going to need some of it while we keep working on the coop - so ignore the mess!

Now question for all of you - do you have to have perches on the nesting boxes? The very top of the box sits 40" off the ground, so I am going to assume my chickens can make it into the boxes okay - but if they just flew up to get into the top layer - would the disrupt any previously layed eggs that were in there and chance breaking them... or not?

I started to make a BYC page - but the dang pictures do not show up when i put the links in it... sigh.

YAKS !!!! My DH ET would love those. Now they could do some serious damage. Just dealing with my goats horns is enough for me !! I can see why some people try selling their old barns first. I'm sure these barn salvagers charge a pretty penny to take one down. Then turn around and sell the boards etc...... You're right, we should be in the business !!! Or maybe we could rehabilitate these old barns and make custom chicken coops for them. All of these people that are getting rid of their barns obviously don't do chicken math !!!!!

Jim, I did see the ads for the sleighs. I'm going to take one project at a time. My new cart should be here end of the week or next week. I ordered runners for it as well so it can be used as a sleigh. We do have some old sleighs that DH ET is going to refurbish. I would like to be in the Klondik Days Sleigh Rally in Eagle River some day. Won't be this year I'm afraid. Our goal is to get the round pen up and the pasture up by fall. I'll have to look for a horse hair blanket and all the attire to wear if I'm going to be in the Sleigh Rally, Nice hat etc

DH ET and I went to Eagle River Saturday to the County Fair (can't think of what county off hand) with my Sister and BIL. Had a great time. I'll post pictures later. I won a stuffed animal for my Grand Niece buy shooting a crossbow. Had to get the arrow perfectly in the center of the star. I DID !!!

Shooooottt Trying to upload the pictures and for some reason it is SSSOOOOoooo Slow. I'll upload them later. I have to tend to the chickens then go to town and get a tire for the horse trailer.

Later

That is one good looking roo, BBP. So he isn't the friendly one? Do you have a pic of him? Sorry to be a pain in the backside.

Dornes, I don't think you use links on your BYC page. It's been a while since I did mine, but I believe I cut & pasted mine? AAADD, ya know.

Oh
and Jim I agree, I would never put a goat in a trunk in this kind of weather. I don't think i would in any weather, Acutally I know I woulnd't. I'd put it in the back seat before I'd put it in the trunk !!
lau.gif
I've heard of people putting their minis/ponies in the back seat so why not a goat...... Oh wait you already know about back seats !!!
