Thought I'd pop in since I've been sitting on hold for oh about an hour (and this is my third transfer) to find out why no service tech showed to put in my 2nd phone line. ARGGGGGG I HATE automated systems. It was the beginning of the end of good customer service!

Thank you all for the nice comments on my picture today. Amy, you can bet that one is going in a frame.

FT that last pic was a droplet of dew dangling from the tip of a cone flower petal. Good dodge on the "I thought that was your bday present!" Everyone should know how to make that look work for them

TO I can't remember other than one pic which I posted of the butterfly earlier (I just uploaded it again and it won't show it...hmmm..)... but here are a couple for you.

My camera is a Nikon D5000, has an internal stabilization gizmo to help and it sure does!

I'd scream but they wouldn't hear me

OMG the guy who could find out something put me on hold so he could check with the techs to see why no one showed up... and... then after a couple of minutes I'm back in the Q and have to go through everything all over again... now for the 5th time I'm on hold...absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!! If I had another option for phone service out here I'd be calling them right now!!

well... I see how this afternoon is going to go!
guess I'll go play a game while I wait!

Afternoon All....yep, I agree quite the chatty bunch!

Trip to the feed mill for a couple hundred pounds of layer ration and 100lbs of whole corn. Nice to see the price of corn down from what it was.Whole corn is $13.45 per 100lbs and 18 % layer ration is $18.05 per 100lbs. Might be able to afford a few more coops if the price keeps a droppen!

Nice pics everyone...thanks for sharing....nice to see you stop by again cp!

Picked 2 ice cream pails of broccoli...more broccoli salad....

the tomatoes are coming along good too. Picked another half dozen....looks like the harvest will be bushels and bushels. Suzie froze another 6 apple pies. The dutchie tree has ripe apples now.
Great for cooking, but not a good table apple. Need pie apples fm?

No ruffled feathers here FT...just lucky well fed boys!

I keep hearing how good everyones gardens are... I need to work on the weeds better next year. My tomatoes are coming though so need to can some spaghetti sauce soon. WIsh I had brocolli that survived. Oh well- we are living on zucchinia and yellow squash right now. Made fried eggplant from some I grew this year- kids were not entusiastic..I was!
Well I am hitting that busy crazy time of year. Kids start school ( 4k) half days on the 2nd of september so that is coming up soon. then the big birthday party for them turning 5 labor day weekend. Our basement is almost done so I need to get that in order before the party. Yikes... so much going on. And I am trying to decide if the little 8 week old sweet favorelle will suffice as a buddy for my silkie ( currently thinks it is mom and sleeps under it, although they are the same size) come winter when she will need someone to snuggle with below the roosts or if I need to get another silkie ... Need is so irrelevant though... want is a better word. And convincing DH that one more bird wont be a problem... wink wink.

I have a Nikon D40 with an 18-55 lens. What zoom is your lens, cause you have some nice close shots that I just cannot bring into focus with my lens. I joined up on the Photography 101 class thread, and am finally learning how to adjust things in manual mode. Yes!

Kris, have we not sufficiently educated you in your chicken math skills yet?????? You simply cannot get just ONE more bird. No, no, no, my dear. What if something were to happen to her? Then you'd have none. So you need 2. But what if something were to happen to one of the two? You can't have just one newbie: she'd get lonely & picked on by the others you already have. So now you need 3 more......at least.......I think.......hmmmmmm............

Amy, I have an 18-55 1:3.5-5.6G lens as well and occasionally use it for macro work (my camera has a setting for shooting flowers, which lets me get within 6 inches.... doesn't always work so well. My 55-200 1:4-5.6GED lets me shoot closeups from further away and generally gives me pretty crisp shots, although sometimes I do have to crop a bit, depends on the subject amd how close I can get, like the flightly butterflies.

ha... that is how this started. We planned on 6 in our coop with lots of leg room for them... we now have 8 (although one is a silkie and we know how big they are). But I figure for this coop... 2 more bantams would be max. But DH wants to see the eggs... still only 5 layers in those 8. My Buff Orp is 22 weeks and still no eggs. Small red comb... so we wait. The older silkie does not lay and the favorelle is a baby.
Sigh... someday we will have a bigger coop... thanks for enabling me!
