I am reveling in the moment this morning. First morning in 5 years that I am home alone... kids are in 4k and I dont have to work. So planned some exciting grocery shopping by myself this morning. Maybe take 5 minutes to do nothing. Love it!

Hey, French Toast, you asked if the pie tasted like pie with jelly? (Gross! I'm not a big fan of grape jelly.) No, actually, think cherry pie with concord grape flavor -- not jellyish at all...

Jim, if Annie makes you grape pies, be sure to double her gifts at Christmas! That will be a woman after your heart for sure!

No time to write -- must motivate to let the critters out and get some plants in the ground!

Good morning! Just had to do a quick post...yeah yeah....there goes my day!

H&R... Maybe your DH can talk to TO's DH about the truck..... might be the seat belts! lau Congrats on your BOY! Maybe you can get a colored male for you DD's birthday?

Yes it was a very nice surprise...when I reviewed my calendar I had marked off 21 days...DOH--so I guess they were right on time!

Elaine--you have inspired me...I have Mums to get in too. And tomatoes ans squash to pick and can....yup--making some of those stewed tomatoes today. Nice and cool for canning and getting the house steamy!

Too bad you didnt have a girl H&R...now you have all that competition to get a female! I could have easily hooked you up with a male too. Are you kicking yourself yet for getting rid of the one you had last year? That was a girl right?

Oh--I just remembered this weird thing...got up on a chair to check out the color of my Male button (quailady just posted color pics and types) and he is GONE~!!!!!! WHat the He[[???? He was in the cage making noise the other day when I fed them (Monday) today he is MIA! No body, nothing. The only thing I can think of is that one of the cats jumped up on the cage and hooked him out? The cage hangs 6"down from my 11 foot ceilings....seems unlikely. If he got out on his own I am sure he was a snack for someone....I was just going to reintroduce him to the girls too....

CC now that would have been funny and then he would have killed me! He slept about 99% of yesterday and is right as rain today... bummer.... no entertainment! LOL

Elaine, that pie looks sooooooo good. Never had a grape pie and probably never will if I have to peel a bazillion grapes to make one!

MLH where are you located again? I know you don't want something to far away for your horse.

Well need to hit the shower, training day at one of the jobs today... pay me to sit for 4 hours... sure!!

Sorry about that. I have one from Pampered Chef that my mom gave me. I love mine; it's pretty heavy duty and works great. It looks just like the one from Norpro, only more expensive.

I'm sure the Norpro one would work just as well as the one I have if you don't want to pay for the name.

good mid-day.. I made pancakes and eggs for breakfast ..Just Annie and me.. Gramma and Ken were still sleeping.. Just llike when the kids were young..LOL

No frost,,, and the corn made it..!! It is just perfectly ripe now.. and so sweet, we almost have to dilute it..

My brother is just pulling into the driveway.. He is bringing me a mess of fish he caught yesterday.. all cleaned and ready for supper, tonight..

I made the quail a dusting pan today.. and put fresh bedding in all the cages..

bro just went home.. two half quart baggies of fillets.. mostly white bass.. I never ate or even saw a white bass.. he caught these out of the DuBay Flowage.. He also caught some catfish. I told him to keep those.. sometimes catfish are real good and sometimes they taste like I imagine, sh!t.. the last ones I tried to eat were so gross, it put me off of them for life..

is there something special I should know about preparing white bass?? I am plannng on light flour and pan frying with some onions..

Annie just went to town.. I told her to pick up a french fry cutter for me.. we have those kitchen magicians , or whatever they are called, .. but I have pushed out the cutters on them too often with hard potatoes.. I told her to get a good heavy duty cutter..

I just checked on my pulley for the lawnmower.. the guy said it did not come in today's shipment of parts, but it is in route.. meanwhile my grass has stopped growing out of respect for my lack of lawnmower.. NOT !!!!!

yes, the one we had last winter was a girl and no I am okay with the fact that she went to live at our friends place. My friend is figuring she is on the older end of things, she did lay a few eggs this year but their peacock has shown no interest in her.

we did find a place that has either a black shoulder girl or a cameo girl but the kids weren't excited about either of those, they are asking that we try and find a India Blue girl.... I guess time will tell

DH's truck is fixed and running, the fuel pump went out on it- of course now days this pump is in the fuel tank so the seat belt thing wouldn't have help!!!

back to paperwork, have to try and get things caught up for one of our landlords.

OK, I am looking for an India Blue hen also.. but I am at the point where I am not fussy anymore.

are those peahens still available, and how much $$$$ do they want for them ? how old are they?? they can live 20 years ???.,, I was told.. I would prefer at least 2 year old..
