Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

This is too whacked out for me this evening.......
Sorry for all the stupid repeat posts. I typed up my post, and when I went to upload it, it kept giving me an error saying there were too many people on the site at the same time. So I kept trying to submit my post, little did I know they were making it through!

So again, sorry folks! I'm headed to bed.
Sweet dreams, all!

I go to the library book sales around here and I saw some of the FoxFire books. There is a used bookstore in town too that has the whole set,,,or most of it. I got 30 of the old MotherEarthNews magazines at the library book sale for 25 cents a piece. Those were fun to read.

Anybody know what to do with sour crop? I got a buddy boy in the bathroom who smells like he has a distillery in his mouth. Poor guy. If I cant help him he is going to die.

POOP SCOOP

Well, got my truck back. $843 and some odd cents !!! POOP !!!! lol

Anyway, we had at least 12 deer on our 20 acre hay field this afternoon. Rex is going nuts. Today we had 4 deer finishing up the apples under the trees by the truck coops. So much for making apple cider vinegar. Just last week their were tons of apples. The deer must have finished up all the apples in the orchard. ( Old apple trees in the woods) They are brave enough to come with Rex and River barking their heads off.

DH worked til 7pm, I got home just before he did. I sat in the truck reading some of the paper, told him I would feed the horses and close the coops, he brought the groceries in the house for me.
After I was done, put the stuffed chicken breasts in the oven I asked him what time it was. He couldn't read his phone. I couldn't find mine. I went to the bedroom, got in my PJ's and came out here to finish supper. DH said he was to tired to eat, and the news was on. I said is it 10pm? He said yes !!!!! Poopy poopy double Poopy !!! I missed my favorite show Revenge !!!! I am so tee'd off !!!! What the heck took me so long outside ???
DH can do the chores in 1/4 the time I do them. If I have to do morning chores by the time I am done it is time to start the evening chores !!!
th.gif

And of course they told me everything else the truck needs. A long overdue oil change. I will bring them the stuff and they'll do it for $10. It won't get done here and we don't have time.
Needs shocks or ??? in the back. Needs new tires and ??????????? Thought we only had 150K on it when on double look it has 178K !!! My car is the one with 150K. We need to win the lottery. Sending in my PCH entry tomorrow !!!

So hopefully I can go get the peafowl tomorrw. I have to find a place for them. Think they are going to go in the greenhouse. Will move the birds from Jim and Wcc in with the others. Quarantined for 2 weeks? Not the reccommended time but they look to be doing good.

I have been doing alot of reading on Peafowl and it looks like they get the blackhead just like turkeys do. The can get it from the cecal worms. Chickens can have the cecal worms and not be as affected at the peas plus the earthworms eat the cecal worms and are carriers. So the protazoa (sp) is not only in the chicken feces but in the worms and bugs that eat the worm larvae. May not have all that written exactly but you get the point !!
That is why you don't house peafowl with turkeys and chickens.
So, my plan after reading the peafowl threads on here is to 1) deworm all my chickens with Valbazen which will kill all types of worms including tapeworms 2) dewrom my peafowl with the same dewormer 3) give the peafowl the recommended dose of Fish-Zole (Metronidazole) sold for fish. which will kill the blackhead protazoa (sp)

I guess chickens can have the protazoa of blackhead and not have symptoms. Alot of people are lucky enough to be able to have chickens and peafowl together but once you get it I guess it is hard to get rid of so I am not going to take any chances. I think I can treat them monthly to prevent the blackhead from taking hold incase they become exposed to it. I will no doubt be hanging out on the peafowl thread for a while.
One of the guys that worked on our truck is who we got our very first chicks from. He bought some young peachicks and one died already. Wonder if it is because he houses them with the chickens I think.
My white silkies hatched out 3 chicks a few days ago, I will have to take pictures. They hatched one chick out a few months ago. It of course is a Cockeral !!!

I'm going to miss seeing the deer out my window. At the rate they are eating the apples there won't be any left by the weekend.

DH said tonight "Find a home for this chicken that is running around the house would ya !!!" I said he is staying here. He will go back with the gang no doubt, gotta find him a special girl !!
love.gif
he is making himself a little to comforatble !!!

Jim, got your PM, Thanks. I think I will give it a go with the peacock and hen. I'll just keep an eye on them. He said he just got them. Someone was getting out of peafowl. So he hasn't had them for that long but doesn't take much to catch something !

Ok, gonna submit before I lose all of this. Plus gotta see if I can watch Revenge online !!!

LOL well, with the plumbing the way it's been we didn't want to tax the system and everyone else was beating me to showers when other water usage was low
barnie.gif
But no dishes or laundry to do so I got my bath in!

Ken... I agree with Jim, could be a lack of animal protein. Chickens are omnivores and animal protein is not the same as vegetable protein. If it keeps happening after you increase the protein then you may have to remove the one pecking for a couple of weeks, after she goes back in with the rest the pecking order should have changed and she would be the newbie.

TO... sounds like I need to put the lights on a timer

Guess that's about it... night!

Something was going on here a lot of repeated posts. Just fell asleep in the chair for a needed nap [up at 3:30] Donny called asking if I wanted to ride along to take the steer to the locker plant. I asked if he needed help loading or unloading. Nope. He just wanted someone to ride along. Turned out all he wanted was for someone listen while he talked - all the way there and all the way back.

What are friends for? tiki good luck with the sour crop wish I had an answer for ya!

Overcast Morning
sickbyc.gif
just finished chores and shared a loaf of bread with the chickens, peafowl and pheasants. Of course the Welsummer girls are always vocal about the amount of treats that get shared- I think they are complaining that I didn't bring enough

DH headed into work early-says it's going to be a long day- they are changing out 2 windows at a rental unit- windows have failed and won't shut properly-wants to get this done before it gets colder. Had to rent a lift to safely reach them as they are the upper units in a 4 unit building.

DrH- that's a really cool picture of the buck, DD saw that this morning and told me to show it to DH- he goes hunting almost every year but hasn't got one now for probably 15 years. Of course we tease him, that when he goes opening weekend then we see them walking through our yard!!

Suppose I will get started on stuff here again today.

Nice buck DrH!!!

yes FT I had another one with sour crop. He wasnt being allowed to eat by one of the roosters. This one also is lower peck order. I am unfamiliar with sour crrop so not sure why how when. KLucky we have BYC. I guess I am going to do crop surgery on him today. Not sure what caused the problem. Maybe I gave too much rolled corn? or treats?

After surgery and rest period he gets a course of powdered bluestone treatment.

H@R good luck to your DH on getting a buck this year.

YEAY Cindlady!

Good morning! I sure hope that the site is better today! I think Nifty might need to upgrade? There must be way too many members for the size or something...or maybe it was raining everywhere and there was nothing else to do on a Wednesday night? My posts kept trying and trying to load and if they did I would get a blank white screen but couldnt get back on here...must have been the waiting line. Anyhow I went to bed and all the post were here this morning! (some times 3!

Sorry Jim I thought you had fed that ration before you fed premix. FT I think the blackhead continues to live in the soil--checking my book...nope no info there...I am sure there is a ton on here though.

Got lost reading about pigeons and such in my book. That book has so much info (the country living one) I find something that newly pertains to me every time I open it. My favorite part is at the end where there is a check list...I have completed the whole thing except harnessing oxen or horses and plowing a field. Maybe I will get to to that someday...

Gotta run--have a fantastic day! Terri O

DrH that deer on the cam looks stufffed! LOL--I think all the animals do on those...

Here is Fly lady BIngo....fun way to get stuff done without sidetracking!
