afternoon everyone! boy the day went fast, got the short straw this am so I had to clean bathrooms along with some more paper work

Finally decided on names for the peachicks: for the white peachick-his name is Gadget and for the IB peachick- her name is Mouse

Anyway, the peacock and peahen are very nice !!! And I picked up anothe peahen, suppose to be a blue shoulder but That Rick guy said their is no such thing. It is no doubt a IB.
They are all breeding age so look out, next spring I will be hatching like mad, I hope !!!

I think having bigger birds up here might be better, the chickens are getting "lost" somehow !!!

When I got home I found one of my supposedly lavender silkie hens had died. It was the one I put in with Tumbler (the wry neck girl) It was laying with on it's back in a very weird position. It's butt was all wet like it had sat in the water bowl and it's head also. But not so wet like it had drowned ????? Weird.

She was always very fragile looking. I have her brother in with them also because he wasn't being allowed to eat when in with the bigger hatch mates. (not silkies)

I haven't been feeding any of them eggs by hand lately because I was watching to see if they all would eat on their own and they have been. I was planning on keeping the three in their own "special needs" pen.
I am very unhappy with the "lavenders" that for one aren't lavenders, they are silver and maye and a BIG maybe lavender splits. I hate it when people sell eggs and don't know what the heck they are doing !!! Waste of my time and end up with birds I won't use for my breeding program. Found out the hard way that just because they are BYCr's doesn't mean they know it all if anything !!! I guess good thing they were all shipped eggs so I don't have tons of them !!!

Oh and remember the goats and chickens that needed to be rehomed about a month ago up here? The woman called today and said she was evicted and needs them gone by Tuesday. So I am getting them all for nothing. The goats were free before but not the polish chickens. So will be getting them tomorrow sometime.

I had a good time looking at all of the animals were I got the peafowl yesterday !!! I love his place.
He has alpacas, 4 horned sheep, minature pigs (and babies), big pigs (and babies), pheasants (beautiful colored ones) ducks, geese, Yaks, long horns, bunnies, cats, dogs, pony (that I want real bad, black and white like my spotted draft)
and probably things I don't remember. Oh yeah and pigeons. He has a lop eared bunny tha is a calico that is having babies any day !!!

Oh, and turkeys !! That should cover it.

He had a nice small pond where the ducks were. I asked if he dug it and if he put rubber down. He said no to both counts. The ducks dug it themselves !!!

Ok, better get to looking busy, DH will be coming home with hay !!

Oh and the reason the person with the goats is getting evicted is, Earl the goat got out and broke thru the screen door with his horns !!!! And her chickens free range into her neighbors yard which is the landlords cousin and she doesn't like chickens !!! Geezzz !!!

Special Friday Here on The Hill.
Thanks for the good wishes sent our way. The weather was perfect like the day we were married. Today my daughter stopped for needed eggs and some tomato juice. it seems perfect to me...just a purpose and a reason for more than myself.

I lied when i thought we would go out for dinner on our day.... Suzie loves to cook....OH MY.... I want to take you out for dinner Suzie, cause we never do! She said I can do it... better and that's it.

So, because of the high prices when you go out to eat around here, suzie said let's have .... Scallops, haddock, shrimp, served with melted butter...all you care for, plus ho-made frys and fresh cabbage and carrot salad and a unlimited liquor bar.

The breakdown for great meals at home...

Scallops...ten bucks a lb....we used half a bag.... $5 (10 scallops)

Haddock $15 for 2 fillets....we used 0ne..... (1lb) $7.50

Shrimp...2lbs on sale $10....again half a bag....$5

Bot of cheap champane....$6

Tatoes, cabbage and carrots slaw, tarter sauce, melted butter, pickeled sprouts...just part of life here. Made with love...FREE..IMO

Booze and beer prolly $10 for good beer and $10 for canadian whisky..... And to stay at home for a meal and evening for less than $50..... Priceless ( in our tiny stay at home minds) Going out is over rated in our opinion. The tunes are cranked just right.

Bigz and SIS,

Now that is living!

DH & I were debating on going out for a fish fry tonight, but that lasted a whole of 2 minutes. We both looked at each other & shook our heads. I took some fish out of the freezer, breaded it up & baked it with some cheesy potatoes & carrots, and some warm pear crisp for dessert. Then it is time to curl up on the couch under a fuzzy blanket with my DH & the cats, watching a movie & sipping some wine in front of a toasty fire. My kind of heaven.

I'm so glad you two are making the most of your special day & doing what you love together. I hope it never ends.

BigZ and SIS--great song and video! I knew the song but never saw the vid. Your evening sounds great too CC! Mine is consisting of DH watching "Gold Rush" and DD25 saying "please turn the hockey game on...." I am thinking I will go and lock up the critters and go up to bed with a bowl of popcorn...thenI will read my book. YeeeHaw!

Cind--the gold reather thing must be catchy...Little Turk is getting gold feathers on his/her neck. Still hasnt decided what S/He is....either! Getting a bit bigger but not nearly as bog as my regular roos...we shall see I guess.

The potatoes are HUGE! BFF was making stuffed spuds for dinner tonight. They sounded good...but not as good as the chicken and rice chuili verde that I made!!! MMMM--glad I spotted the recipe on the rice bag!

Just finished helping the kids frost cupcakes, we are headed to my parents tomorrow-equipment in tow(skid steer) because DH and my brother decided they need to go and finish a project for my Dad......... we are taking the cupcakes to celebrate my Dad's b-day which was last Sunday at least that is what the kids, me and my sister-in-law are planning to do

we told the boys whatever they plan to do is up to them

"there might be some yelling going on because we are way to busy to be coming down or so my Dad will say"

Guess I should get the kids moving towards bed- we will be taking off around 7:30 am

My kids are in bed just now, they are old enough now that we can go on a date in town once they are in bed. Cheesecake and coffee at the local restaurant with my smoking hot wife!

CC looks like you and your DH are well on your way too with evenings like that !!

I know my DH loves me, everytime I ask for a new addition and he says yes it reminds me why I chose him. Yesterday hope he felt the same when he came home with a new deer stand !!!! Now we just need the deer !!!

When I was at Walmart in Wausau last night I was checking out their 4 isles of marked down Halloween stuff. Thought these plaques and mugs had cute sayings on them.

Yeah good old ho-made cooking !!! How many times have you not bought things like shrimp, scallops, steak and lobster at the grocery store because you thought it was too expensive but when you are out and about decide to eat out because, well just because !!!
Makes you think twice after reading Bigz post. Look how cheap a really good meal would cost. Alot less then if you ate it out and often times more then not it would be cheaper then the cheap chicken dinner or buffet for two say like Perkiins !!

So guess I'll have to buy us some of that Good Food to have on hand when the urge to eat out is whispering in my ear !!!

Oh and Bigz, glad your eye appointment went well. My Aunts did too. They didn't have to give her the shot in the eye on Tuesday like they had thought.

So glad you got the garlic FT. We had some tonight, we eat some much roast in the oven. We are to the point that we use about 4 heads of garlic to 2 tbls of butter. Now that is a ratio that will keep any demon away.

Congrats on all the anniverisarys it is great to hear.
