Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh there is a wolf back east of Eau Claire I am pretty sure they are the Eau Claire River Pack, and there is another pack I think called the Black River Pack by Black River Falls. I took a class on wolves at the DNR many years ago, but I am not sure if I have the names right.

I like your avatar too. Nice picture. I gotta go do some things, been on here too long today. well off and on.

Sorry I couldnt resist...Is that why no one that likes football is on here? I dont think that we've heard from Jim all day!

My Mom always told me that I was born 100 years too late...I think it would have been neat to live then...well, I guess easier in some ways and harder in others...Terri O

The rivers side pack is in Burnett county I believe. I live 2 miles from the Lincoln county line and New Wood is the closest with a few wolf attacks, though a few months ago it is believed a wolf killed a dog on the owners front yard here in Marathon county, but the DNR pretty much hushed it, and there are a few reports stirring around of cougars too.

years ago they used to have names for packs when the DNR admitted to only a few wolves even being around..

If the DNR says something does not exist, then you can bet that it does not exist,,,, in their mind at least..

It is the same in Canada.. My brother and his 3 sons went fishing on a nice lake up there.. they caught some nice Northern Pike.. The warden asked what lake they caught them on.. and then he argued and never admitted that there were Northerns in that lake..

a friend of mine near Ringle had a half dozen calve killed over a period of a few weeks.. the boys at the DNR said that there were no wolves in that area.. He said , "Good, then they must be stray dogs, and I am going to shoot them .."" the DNR boys said, "OH NO, don't do that ,, they might be wolves !!!"" there is a lot more to this story,, too long to type it here..

A long time ago, I spotted some wild turkeys about a mile from my house.. I called a guy I know who was instrumental in re-introducing turkeys to this part of the state.. He argued me down.. said they must be some that escaped from a farmer near me.. said there were no wild turkeys this far North.. Hmm, I wonder where all these turkeys came from that we see all over the place ? they must be offspring of those escapees.. as long as they are ferrel turkeys, we should be able to shoot as many as we want without a license, eh?

I agree! This past deer season, neighbors reported they saw 2 pigs in the area. They could not tell if they were wild or merely escapees. I SOOOO hope they were escapees and not the wild ones, but those darn animals produce like rabbits so next year we'll see what, if any, news comes about about piggy's popping up. DNR aren't good for much of anything, and nearly all are professional lairs in my book. Turkeys abound here too, more so than the deer and its known fact that turkeys can deplete the deer herds by eating up the deer's food resources.

TerriO, I know how disappoited you would be by the Packers loss, so I didn't want to bring up the subject..

I heard that the bus with the Offensive team didn't make it to the stadium..
