Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Welcome back Bigz. Hey, I like that OM !!!! Think I might just borrow that instead of using the DH cause sometimes the D doesn't stand for Dear or Deer !!

They called and all of my venison is done. Now just need to get the money and time to go get it !!!! Then will head down to get some of that summer sausage and farmers sausage made down by you.

Our feed mill's family has a dairy farm and they bring their old cows to that place. They are very happy with it too.

Just talked to my sister. She went to a friends church on Sunday and they had a childrens christmas program. Complete with camel (lama in disguise), sheep, goats, and a brown and white burro. I asked why they didn't have the normal gray donkey and she said because they sang a song about a little brown burro !!!

She said it brought tears to her eyes because it reminded her of all of the christmas pagents that we were in as children (scared to death) and couldn't wait to get home to open presents.
So I told her if I could find some decent clothes that I might go to church with her on Sunday while I'm down there. That would mean that I can't stay up to late eating cookies and trying to get a glimpse of Santa though

Oh, guess I should have read closer, Tatters not Taters !!! But you will find around here that peeple don't always spell things write !!!

Gotta go feed horses and close up the coops. Got all but one heat lamp working last night. Thought one of the bulbs bases got stuck in one of them so I took needle nose pliers and was digging it out (yes it was unplugged) only to discover that it wasn't the bulbs base. Ruined the socket !!!

Evening all!
I tried to catch up as best I could but can't remember who said what! So here is the summed up version: Congrats, Feel better soon, I'm sorry for any loses, and Happy Birthday to the little girl with the cute cake, Hugs all around!

Well, I took Saxon back to the vet for his re-check on his hind end lameness and knee issues. While he is over all much better in the back end, he has not improved like I was hoping in his front end. He seems to use his hind end to stand up more then he did. Before he "pulled" himself up more then "pushed". So the Deramaxx is helping a whole bunch. Of course the super pricey stuff works! Why wouldn't it!
Anyway, Doc and I talked and we decided to run some blood work to rule out something...something..plamosis. Tick related disease. I have to wait for the results. We honestly don't believe Sax has it but since she has run into a couple of cases this year presenting the same thing as Sax, she just wants to rule it out completely. We also ran blood to make sure the Deramaxx was not harming his kidneys. All of that was great! So he can be on it to help with his arthritis.
However, here is the not good news. We also decided to take x-rays of his front end to see what was happening joint wise. Turns out both shoulders are great but both elbows are not. His left front is worse then his right although both have arthritic changes. Basically the changes are from repeatative friction. The formal term is called sclerosis. His left elbow also has a bone spur. Talk about ouchie!!! Poor thing! So now Sax is up to potentially needing surgery for both knees and both elbows. I figure that would be about $10,000 when it's all said and done. Give or take.
So, since there is no way we can afford surgery, and that option in out, we decided to go the Hydrotherapy route. Doc will make the referral and then Sax will met the hydrotherapy folks for a consultation. I'm hoping that it will be a whole lot less expensive then surgery. Sax also will get a full caloric diet consultation complete with calorie and fat and protein calculations on his food, then he will have a feeding plan all mapped out. They also included supplement analysis and recommendations.

We are hoping once he gets moving and gets toned up and the weight off, he will move better and that will help his joints.

Other then that, the Girls are great and I got 9 eggs today!!! They are being so good!! Now here I'll say that and Pow! They'll stop laying! LOL!

Sorry to hear that your buddy is having problems

Guess we are in the same boat, our Irish Setter needs to go back and be re-weighed, thought she was starting to gain weight but now not so sure.... have her on pain meds for the spinal disk spurs and they are having us try an medicine for anixety but that takes 4-6 weeks to tell if that is helping. They ran blood and urine tests and everything came back normal so we adjusted her food amount up to see if that would help and once she is re-weighed we'll see where things are at. Figuring she is 68 years old humanwise since she just turned 9 years old this year.

Not much else going on here outside of work, DH finished modifing the wine refrig into a incubator, probably switch the eggs over to it in awhile.

As an educated man, I DO see a lot of typos that are typical on forums such as this. You have those who do the ooops and edit their posts, others leave it as is and still some truly need a dictionary to thumb through as you just cannot make hide nor hair of what they are writing...yep, see many of those posts in this thread

I'm sorry about your Setter, H&R.

to you to! Your girl is 3 years older then my boy. Sax is only 6. Just turned 6 this past November. He is a "poorly" bred Aussie that is very very Large for his breed. He weighs 91#'s. He needs to lose about 15 or so then he'll still be big! He is on special prescription food but he gained a pound!
I got his from an old high school classmate that bred Aussies. Sax was the product of "fashion" or stupidity rather, when the more ummm...let's just say certain breeders were breeding them bigger then the Breed Standard. He was the second Aussie I got from her. Ely is smaller but rather ah, pudgie! Sax was the last one from the littler to get a home and I took him only because she asked me to. The person who wanted him, wanted to breed him and he is not breeding material. So I took him so he'd have a better home then the "breeder" he was going to.
He is a huge love and so sweet. I feel bad that I can't do more for him. He has always seemed to have joint problems since he was a baby and he was manageable with over the counter joint supplements up until this fall.

Tatters-Now who is the trouble maker?!?!?!

Well I have had a BAD day...
sad.png

I have been expecting my 1st check since last week, if it isn't here by Thurs, I am giving notice to them.
I called the post office this morning, having the supe check with the postal carrier, he called me back by the time I was at the barn feeding the
chickens and horses. No mail from ND or WA...
So I called and then emailed and finally got an answer that was a little condescending, and said I was being a little antsy.. NO I am being a whole lot antsy...
We have borrowed to the hilt, gotten a pay day loan, then added to it.
We got lucky today, DH's father sent his annual gift, which is a little money. He will cash it so we can have fuel and get our niece a christmas present.

I wish that the company would have said that the pay days would be on the 5th and 2oth OR 7th and 22nd...

So now, I am going to start to look for something less travel wise, and use the skills I have acquired ...I will give it time, but I am going to keep these people at
arms length. I have gone above and beyond for them... and now I am more in debt then when I started with them...

I think at most I will end up breaking even.

Well I needed to get that off my chest.

So sorry to hear of all the four footed critters having so many problems. Their life is to short that is fur (intentionally mispelled ) sure.

Found a vet in Almond (not sure how to spell that) that will neuter Porky for $75. All of the others want over $150. This vet just has a mobile service but I will bring him to her.

Can't remember what else I was going to comment on, dinner is on the stove and I am distracted !!!

I'm starting to realize that I am far from ready to leave here for three days !!!!! Ahhhh Procrastination !!! (did I spell that right?)
BTW Tatters, I know of alot of Educated Men that can't spell, let alone speak !!!!
gig.gif

Don't know any women like that though !!!!

Check this out everybody !!! Priceless !!

Amy, if it was relatively soon after his injury, it probably was ghost pain. It's very common in spinal injuries.

I can just see the caption on that one: "the one that got away".

I guess you never get mad when the dryer keeps losing one of your socks, hey FT?

Ok, I'll shut up now.

And thanks for posting that bumblefoot link. That's another good one. Oh, and I voted too. The next time you attempt to perform surgery on a defenseless heat lamp, might I suggest putting your glasses on first?

Sorry to hear about Sax, MLH, and your dog, H&R. I sure hope they're feeling better soon. Poor dogs. Getting old stinks.

Isn't that the truth? But they're all college educated! They've got their degree!

And yes, FT, you spelled it correctly.

Well, as if I didn't have enough stuff to do, now I'm thinking we're going to have to try to catch Moose to take a better look at his foot/leg to see what the issue is. Some nights he has trouble getting up on the high roost. I've seen him try to jump up there & fall off a couple of times. So some nights he's been sleeping on the floor, despite the fact that DH built a ramp leading to the lower roost. Think he'll use the ramp, or the lower roost that he can get onto, for that matter? Oooohhh, no! Yep. He's a male, alright.
smack.gif
He's up on the roost tonight, but not last night, which bothered Ezmerelda to no end. She wouldn't go up on the roost either. She paced around for hours, poor girl. She must be his fav, because her back is nearly bald. Does anyone have a pattern for saddles they could post or PM me please?

The weather wasn't too bad yesterday so I cleaned out the coop again. Since Moose has been sleeping on the floor on & off, I really put a thick layer of shavings down. It was 42 degrees in the carport & 48* in the coop around 3pm. And it was one of the few days they actually wanted to go outside, prolly to play in the mud, and was it ever muddy. Yuck! They want nothing to do with that snow stuff, although Myrtle does like to eat it. Good thing they've got the carport to run around in all winter.
Well, mom came over today & helped me give the house a good cleaning. I swear she is Superwoman. Man, I love my mother!
love.gif
She helped me get everything dusted (hate that job) and washed all my lightfixtures. And DH came home from work early, brought us some lunch & helped take the globes on and off the lights for us. Talk about team effort! At least it made the job go faster. And boy, do they sparkle now. It is so nice to have that done and over with. I still have some things to pick up at the store & presents to wrap, and a few zillion other things to do. Better get to bed. Sweet dreams, all!
