Thanks for your kind words, FT. I'm trying to do the best I can. We both are. We don't have a lot of birds. We're not out to make any profits. We just have them because we wanted them They are our pets, and we want them to be happy & healthy. It has been a learning experience over the years, and we have been very lucky that Jack & Henny were so healthy for so many years. I'd like to think we gave them a good life. I just hope Jack will hang in there for a little while longer.

Guess I've whined your eyes & ears off for long enough. Thank you all for your kind words and wisdom. Sweet dreams, all!

Even though I have ALOT of chickens I consider them Pets as well. They are all part of the family so I know exactly how you feel. Sweet Dreams CC.

and your other girls too. Sounds like you were doing everything right, sometimes ya just don't know.

Rami... if you used photo emulsion fluid then you can block (both sides) around the bubble and just wash out the word area and redo. Or what might be easier just wash out (I think you know what I mean about "wash") the whole bubble area and redo. Been maybe 25 years since I did printing, but I know I've changed finished screens. Maybe you could get on idea of an easy way to do it by checking on line.

Well, I got as much done in the coop and the run as I could with a busted hand

I wanted to make a sheltered area outside (snow resistant) but couldn't handle the plywood with this hand... or the drill... or....

This hand is pi$$ing me off big time!

Good White Morning All! Oh CC

I'm so sorry! It's never easy! Perhaps you'll have some new babies soon to ease your pain. It is a circle ya know. I took the turner out this AM along with 6 clears. I know there's more in there but I move pretty fast when I'm candleing. Not too fast though. So there are 30 possibles in the bator.

Bigz I know I've said gettin old ain't for sissy's, don't think it was me that said anything as profound as that. If I did I obviously was under the influence.

Tomski I'm glad I drink, wouldn't want any of those lips touchin mine! One thing I don't like is that fewer posts are visible to read. It's a memory thing.

Have about two inches out there so far. Bob spent the night outside obviously he has his winter coat he was more white than black when he came in.

Just went in to check the Hum/Temp and Folks We Have a Rocker! Chick is adjusting to the new shell position.

Guess I won't be getting anything done today or for the next 3.

Congrat FT on your hatchling!!! Has anyone suggested to Jim about calling his IP to see if they can help? Never mind your all asleep.

I E'd Jim about calling his IP. Hope they can get him back on here! The one egg that's rockin is marked with an HO? I know this is a bad thing to do but was thinking of a name if it survives. Train set? No. Train wreck? No. Then it came to me Choo Choo. Yes! There's also now another repositioning it's self. It's marked with a "B" [barn] Barnie? No. Baby? Yes!

I feel sorry for all of you it's going to be a long 1-5 days!

For those of you in contact with Jim. Have him use the disk cleanup tool. It will clear his cache and other temp memory/internet stuff. Just read that a lot of people that were have probs logging in, staying on, site running slow...etc. used this and it worked. Just a thought...

Snowy morning all, just got back in from doing chores at our friends house- nothing really wanted to go outside.....

DH and I are both home today- what a rarity

, he will have to go plow snow later today so we will work on stuff here. Just looking at the chicks and thinking we need to move them to a bigger crate-will have to transfer them to the heated garage and than next week Wed. Jan 18th our 2nd hatch is due!

Planning to do some cleaning at our house today as DS(9) will be turning 10 tomorrow and we are planning to have his b-day party on Sunday so I have to get all the stuff back into the storage room that was taken out for the furnance install.... best get going!

Morning All!
Yeah! It is snowing!! Yeah! *ducks as CC aims a spit wad and fires in my general direction* Some of my dogs are right there with you CC! Emmitt in particular is rather peeved at me for making the white stuff show up.

The Girls are good and SG is indeed brooding. She is now acting more and more like a broody as opposed to a hen that might want to think about brooding. DH is thrilled with this development. Me not so much!

I moved 20 of the gold star into the three season porch. I have the 5 smallest ones still in the brooder in the house. They needed to extra indoor time. The ones on the porch are thrilled with the bigger accomodations (sp). The have a huge heat lamp and a space heater out there to keep toasty.

The Barbarian goes into be fixed tomorrow! Finally! He is starting to really annoy Ichabod with his 'I'm the dominant cat" routine. Luckily Ickie still out weighs Bubba so that keeps everything equal.

DrH-Good luck with the hatch! Whoo Hoo on the rockers! Keep us posted when you can tear yourself away from the bator!!

Well, I'd best go do something so I feel like I'm getting house work done....Why could it have snowed when BYC was getting a new platform? That would have been dandy! I could have done all my house work then instead of being outside enjoying the "summer like" weather!

Good morning everyone! When I got up (before reading all your posts for an hour or so) there was no snow on the ground...I thought,"'yup, another false alarm!" But now it has been snowing and snowing and already there is about a half inch! Looks really fine and dry too...so that equals slippery! Be careful out there!
Sad to read about the deaths of your birds CC! I agree with the others though, it could just be old age. I lost a white hen last week too...no idea why. The same thing happened as yours; they just get lighter and lighter and huddle for a day and then "wake up dead." As FT's lecturer said....it is sad though for sure.

DrH--the one marked HO is from my partridge LF rooster "Hop-a-Long" and either a solid black hen or a black hen with red shoulders. I had a few hatch last year and they were gorgeous! Really BIG! The "B" egg is from my show bird pen...many interesting types in there! Can I ask you a favor? Could you PM the codes of the eggs that were clears? I have a few roos that I think are not doing their jobs! Good luck with the hatch! Cat wait to see what you end up with!

This time I WILL remember my painty pens for shirt signings! I was so disappointed when I washed my shirt and the sharpie washed right out! You know if I would've gotten sharpie on my good sweatshirt (or FT's pink one) it NEVER would have come out! Just seems to figure!
DD19 is going to Racine today to get water out of the Lake for the copepods at school. Her back has been out and I hope she doesnt hurt it worse pulling up the containers. She says it is easier when it is frozen cause then they make a hole in the ice and are at least on the same level...I dont feel too much better about that either! She says I worry too much...what's a Mother to do?

I have to update my browser too...my spellcheck doesnt work with this new site. I dont much care for the BYC one...
Did I mention that my brother sent me flowers for my birthday? He says it was his wife's idea...then DH brought me flowers too! Of course my dam^ cats spilled BOTH vases! It was like a swamp in here this morning! Why do cats have to spill flowers? And the more pertinent question...why do I always think that they wont?

You think I would learn....my floor is probably wondering what is up...getting mopped three times in a week? That is unheard of here! Well, I cant think of anything else I wanted to say...I guess I better get outside and let out the birdies. THey are going to be so surprised! Mine seem to enjoy the snow. Especially the ducks...those calls are so adorable--they pretend to be taking a bath in the snow...it is so funny to watch!
