Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just got another recipe!

m'kay- first off is the crust. I don't do crackers. Or cookies. blech!

Cheesecake crust:
1 stick butter
1/4 c sugar
1/2 t vanilla
1 c flour

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Gradually add flour and mix well. Spread into bottom of springform pan and prick with a fork. Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 min. So far great with any cheesecake recipe!

Junior's Peanut Butter Swirl Cheesecake

3 (8 oz) cream cheese (philly brand) at room temp
1 1/3 c sugar
3 T cornstarch
1 T vanilla
2 XL eggs
2/3 plus 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 c peanut butter
5 (1.4 oz) Heath bars
1/4 cup lightly salted dry roast peanuts

Wrap outside of pan with foil for waterbath.

Beat 1 pkg cream cheese with 1/3 cup sugar and cornstarch. (about 3 min)
Blend in remaining cream cheese, one at a time.
Increase mixer to med and beat in remaining 1 c sugar, then vanilla.
Blend in eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
Beat in 2/3 c heavy cream just till blended. Do not over mix.
Pour over crust.

In med bowl, mix 1/2 c cream and PB till smooth. Drop PB mixture in small spoonfuls on top of batter and swirl with knife.

Place cake in large shallow pan containing hot water that comes about 1 inch up the sides of the pan. Bake till edges are light golden brown the top has golden brown swirls. About 1 1/4 hrs.... (I usually find a little less)
Remove from water bath and place on a rack and leave it alone for 2 hrs.
Place in refrigerator for 4 hrs or overnight.

Remove ring and decorate with chopped heath bars and peanuts!

So glad I made the add on for pasting stuff--I hated the other way....Terri O

Raim, I have one daddy duck (Checkers) and three mamma ducks (Jules, Maggie, and Taffy). :) So it is quite possible they are both from the same mamma or from different mammas. I vote option #2 since they look so different and I do not think we have gotten a live baby from Taffy yet.

Chilly evening here, ended up with 2.1 inches of snow and DH is out plowing- they started about noon today but had to stop and take care of 2 water emergencies- one the tenant drove their car into the gargae wall and on the side of that wall is the bathroom so they smashed the toliet and had water running out. DH was able to fix it enough that the water could be turned back on- he'll be going back tomorrow to finish the repair. The other one had a toliet leaking- guess when it rains it pours!

DD and I had to change out the zip tie bands on 14 of the baby chicks- we are trying to keep 5 lines separated so we know which babies came from which pens. We marked 3 of the 5 lines- which seems to be working okay. 1 of the baby Welsummer chicks didn't make it- it had leg problems and even though we splinted it, the knee joint wasn't getting better and it couldn't put weight on that leg.... of course DS(6) named that one!

Off to get the kids into bed.

Bf4 you think your in love?

Well, remember I was going to bring the truck in for an oil change at 1:30pm today? Well went out at 1:23pm to leave and there is no truck, just the car !!!
somad.gif

My DOM (Dear Old Man) took the truck to work today. I only told him how many times I was doing it !!

So luckily I had an oil filter for the car and decided to take the car in for an oil change. Had to go to the garage to get the oil.
Got the oil in the car and had to carefully back out of the driveway without going off the drive so I wouldn't get stuck like last week. Did ok. Made it to the shop 5 minutes late but better then I thought I would. Got out of the car and looked in the back seat and there was no oil filter.
th.gif
So long story short I had to buy the filter. I brought my own synthetic oil too so he just charged me $10 for labor. He only charged me $4 for a filter. Then he noticed a bolt was missing on my alternator. He put one in. Then I told him I needed to look at my tires because we've been getting stuck alot more then usual this winter and there isn't much snow. Turns out my front tires are getting bald in the inside !!!! And they aren't that old. Figures OM didn't notice and we haven't had them rotated to notice !!!
barnie.gif
Ticks me off !!! That was avoidable !!! One more thing for me to put on my to do list !! Get the thing aligned or figure out what is causing the wear, then get the tires rotated. Bringing the truck in tomorrow for it's oil change !!!
Then OM tells me today he needs to get hay on Friday. I said what about the trailer tire that blew last week !!! He said Oh Yeah !!! Sh!t another trip to town for ME to get the tire replaced !!! It sure is convenient for him to work the hours that he does. He doesn't have time to do any of this Cr@p !!!! Not like he did it when he was layed off either !!!
barnie.gif

Then to top it off while I was standing in the garage talking to the guys while they did my oil I noticed this familiar smell (that isn't pleasant) every once in a while. There were not guys standing near (releasing any wind) and I thought what the He!! is that smell. I thought no, can't be me, I showered this morning and I have on clean clothes and am not wearing my chicken shoes !! ????? Finally I realized whenever I turned to the left I smelt it. AHHHH finally recognized the smell !!! ROTTEN EGG !!!!!
Then I looked in the pocket of the coat I was wearing (OM's) and sure enough it was wet and goopy !!! Then it came to me. Rotten EGGS .OMG I wipped the coat into the back seat of the car !! How embarassing !!! Never a dull moment !!
So after all that commotion I decided to go to town and buy a baby present for a shower I have to go to on Sunday. Thought I would hit Foster & Smiths outlet store first. Got 200 mealworms to start my own and a heated pet mat to set under the container. Then thought I would hit the bakery outlet to see if they had any bird bread, BINGO they had two big bags !! Then went to Aldi's for some cookies to make the peanut butter cheesecake (to replace the cookies I ate that I bought for it). Then it hit the pawn shop to see if they have a microwave for the basement so I can cook eggs for the silkies (the one we moved down I discovered has a rust hole through the bottom of it) (No wonder it was sparking). No luck.
Then hit the GoodWill, no microwave there either but found a brand new electric pot/deep fryer I can make the eggs in. Sold.
They had tons of brand new fabric for $1.99 for at least a yard. I bought about 4 different ones. For chicken diapers and aprons. If it would have had a yellow tag I could have gotten it for $1 each. Oh well. In three weeks it will be half price if they still have any. Someone must have cleaned out their sewing room.
By then I was to tired to go to Shopko for the baby gift. As long as I have to go back for the tire I may as well take my time and do it then. No rest for the wicked !

Watching Nightline right now. My sound is not matching up to the peoples speach !!! How annoying, it's been like that all day. Makes you realize how much lip reading we really do!!

Anyway, my goats just get the same hay that my horses get. There is a tiny amount of alfalfa in it. Our shetland pony is in with the goats so I don't think that would be good for him and all of the rest of my horses being drafts don't need it and donkeys are not suppose to have high protien.
I'm sure my bug problem is mites. I've seen lice on another chicken I bought once and there is a big difference. These are very small and real tiny when they first hatch.
I used to dust the pens on a regular basis but since they are indoors I slacked off on doing it. Guess I'll have to do it on a regular basis again. Especially since we have a walk out basement and we store our chicken food downstairs walking in and out at least twice a day will keep them at vulnerable.
I bought a 10lb pail of the poultry dust for $30 and I have one of those garden dust Puffer thingys. I was always using to much before. I also put some into an old nylon sock and dust them that way.
Now what I 'm going to do is put some DE and poultry dust and ashes in a small pet taxi and put it in the coops. I'll rotate it to each pen because I'm certainly not going to give each pen one !!
That ought to keep them happy. Geez I can only imagine the dust that is going to stir up in addition to the bird dust that is driving me nuts.
I was going to do a photo shoot tonight with the chicks but I'm to pooped after all of todays events. Maybe tomorrow !!!
Burp !!!
