lets see if this one posts. These are the two silkies with the kiddos. Silver Surfer and Coconut. They had the necks and back of poof head were either cut or nibbled on so hard to tell as it is starting to grow back in, but Silver may have streamers there. Realized that we dont need the towels there with these guys- they are not huge lap poopers. Not like our solo who sits on our lap and goes right away. And again and again!

Ooohhhh I love this picture! Birdies and kiddos look so happy! Hopefully my kids will like their silkies as much when we get them. Thanks for sharing!

ok terri... I tried to post after downloading a pic like we used to. And I tried to cut and paste that pic and that is what did not work.
I ended up just hitting reply and above where I am typing there are 2 icons that look like film- one is pic and one is video. they want you to download this straight from your computer rather than to your page here on BYC as we did before. That is what I had to do. Good luck!

And yes Big Family, we now have 13 birds ( We started with 4 and were only going to have 6 a year and a half ago and are still enlarging our coop for more)And my 5 year olds say they prefer the silkies and our bantam frizzle cochin just for ease of handling. They still love their big girls too. And I have to say of those 13, about 10 of them are easily handleable for the kids and they love that. We are easing into pets and chickens have been great. My daughter is a natural chicken whisperer!

Kristi... I am trying to hatch my first chickies now. I now know I will have to have more than my original idea of 4 chickens!

My first chicken project is the hatching. I really want the kids to be able to watch some hatch. I don't think we are going to get many chicks though. (I will be extremely lucky to have 4 hatch.) My second chicken project is getting 4 silkie pullets, 1 silkie Roo, and 4 Favorelle pullets in June. I will have to be done getting chicks then for a while.

Its wonderful to see other kids with silkies and handling chickens. I'm really picking breeds that will be good with children. Nothing flighty or aggressive.

Really it's all DrHa s fault for hatching so many adorable chicks that I want so many more than the original plan.

Awwwww, sorry to hear about Sissy, Cind. Those standard roos can sure do a number on those banty hens. I had to seperate mine. I hope she is just traumatized & nothing worse. If she is having a hard molt, it can really take a toll on them. I'm glad you brought her in. Hopefully she can recover quickly for you.

Doesn't someone on here have a chicken named Solo? Is that their vid? Ah, she just mentioned him. Kris, you been uploading vids to YouTube?

TO, someone was using your camera in your bathroom? And I thought my family was a little odd.

Suppose I should get back to doing something. This house looks like I had the energy of a gnat the past 2 days. And am I ever glad I made a huge pot of bean soup on Sunday, cuz I sure didn't feel like cooking either. But I'm feeling better today. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it.

Hi again....very simple to upload pics now...and FAST too! You can also do multiples which makes it faster too. I did one of my old dog Sarge and one of the yellow tulip garden. THe dog looks good but the garden must have been taken at a really low resolution cause it is so blurry it hurts my head...but it doesnt seem blurry on my computer...weird. I know the cam got switched once to a lower res but I didnt think it was on those pics...here is Sarge, I miss him so much!

Stuff is being sticky one here today so I am signing off...gotta go and check for babies anyhow! Today would be the day to be born! 6 degrees! BRRRR!

(PS) DrH--if you tell me what the label was on silver/blue's egg I can tell you the possibilities....maybe Blue Andalusian? H&R...is this what they look like as babies?
