Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok all this talk of incubators is making me want one! Here is my question...
Brinsea 10 chicken egg incubator has:
  • Temperature factory preset at 99.5 F with easy tamper-proof adjustment
  • Flashing temperature indicator and conventional but accurate liquid in glass thermometer
  • Fan assisted air circulation
  • Humidity provided by water trays; not suitable for automatic humidity control.
I think I still need to manually turn it....

It is about $60-70... is this a good deal?

Just started checking some out and want your thoughts on your favorites or ease of use...vs cost.

FT- more piggy pics please, absolutely love them!!! Porgy and Bess?

Oh and Carol may say I am the chicken enabler, but she started it! I just showed her where there were a few nice birds that I was looking at, and she comes home with a bunch for her along with my two. Silly! She did have some great feedback for me on my coop and spring expansions for it! We will see what we can get done!

Better better go get some pics before Bf4 has a chicken.

Ok, Bf4m was the first to guess correct. I got a little boy and girl. The girl is the one on the left and the boy on the right in the picture on my avatar !!!
I love those names !!! Ham & Swiss !!!! Porgy & Bess !!!

Keep the names comming !!! I'm real bad at naming things so please help me out.

Porky went through so many names until I kept calling him Porky. Or just Pork for short !! Sometimes I still call him squeaky or Squeak !!!

Btw the little girl is a hellion !!! She is pig headed. She has the personality of my 90 yr old Aunt Esther. I was going to call her Esterh, Esty for short but after more thought I wouldn't want to insult my aunt.

I'll try to smap some more pictures soon !

FT... Would you have any eggs for me to hatch for an AprilFools Day? (I will not even consider doing it unless its something interesting)

Oh HUSH CC.... I said I would be crazy to even consider another hatch project! But if Sandi has something unusual and pretty for me...

Thanks!! sooooo FT, Raim, HnR (And whoever else that may have rentals): We are on our 3rd time around with renting out....we have 2 options: Someone with lousy credit but would be "gentler on the house (2 adults-1 child part time) VRS a familyw iht 2 (hyper) kids, and a dog/cat but more stable financial situation. I really want to get this place rented out....however dont want the place damaged either_What would you do?

Bees: There is some type of government subsidy or payment for raising bees-I started looking in to this a few years ago. Because of the government payment-there are people who will come set up the bees, put up an elextrical fence around them, and come maintain them for you. Our neighbors do this....jsut a thought.

Is lice as prevalent as mites during the winter? I mentioned how I didnt see anything on any of my birds-but because my Roo-Wally was under the weather I went ahead and dusted them all? Well Sunday, I noticed on my two bantys-jsut above the tail-a ton of dander/dry skin/flakes....and now Im paranoid its lice? They don't seem to have anything close to their skin or under their wings-its just at the base of their tail, on the top?

Afternoon All.... yep the correct stuff is 5% sevin dust (carbaryl). If poultry dust doesn't do the complete job for you...it's prolly not 5% carbaryl. Poultry dust is awful pricey with less than good results...in my opinion... one 5lb bag of 5% sevin is cheap and lasts a few years for me. Just sayin.

Yep, it's their layer ration at Magees that I prefer ghost.

I don't know about naming something your gonna eat FT....unless it's like ribby and roastsy.

stupid fleet farm didn't have seven, I bought the chicken dust stuff. IDK if it will work. I dusted everyone in the silkie coop last night, hopefully tonight we'll get to the big coop. we'll also have to do the "summer" coop. so, no one answered the question about people getting those stupid bugs? do they like people, dogs, cats, goats? Will they come in the HOUSE?
Lord does my head itch just thinking about them things?

speaking of goats, TO what kind of dewormer do you use? (lol, TO has goats. I have 2, under a year old goats)

skip this part if you wish lol
Angie,
yes BL4 is right, I rent out our other house but hens and roos has lots of rentals.
my advise, you better safe than sorry. get ALL the info you can on them. run their FULL names/birthdays on the wi courts site for any outstanding moneys owed and for evictions. http://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl
go with your gut on someone. If you have a bad feeling about them when you hand them the application, don't allow them to rent your house. trust me, the $5000 is better off in YOUR pocket then theirs. they can stay in YOUR house/apartment rent FREE for MONTHS before the judge kicks them out. oh and charge extra for rent for the water/sewer bill. that bill stays WITH the house. YOUR house YOUR bill. we charge an extra $50 a month and the bill is usually $160ish I just call them with how much they owe and when they come to pay it I show them the bill to prove it. and KEEP all documents and give them copies. ok enough said.
I gotta run, later
