Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Susie, I am so very sorry for all of your & your DHs losses.

At least your dad lived to be 90. That is a wonderful blessing that you were able to cherish his presence for that long. My dad will be gone 2 years next month and he was only 75. I know it doesn't make it any easier, but please know my best wishes are with you & your family.

Are you looking for any breed of roo in particular?

Good luck to your coworker, BBP, and I hope your hatching gets better. Sorry to hear about the losses. That is sad & frustrating for sure.

My condolences again, Susie. This is a tough time for you and DH.

Terri, my quail have stayed in the big coop, they are living in one of my brooders. Come spring, I will convert a wire rabbit cage I found at the dump for their new digs. Man, i can't believe what some people take to the dump! Totally usable buckets, wire baskets, tomato cages... fun for me!!

Bigz, you're still making me hungry describing your tasty fare. Homemade chili here tonight. I will most certainly be at the Bash.

On nights like this I am sooooo IN LOVE with my woodstove!

Susie, sorry to hear about your dad..... hugz sending to you......... Glad you all had the time you did with him cherish every memory, and repeat them often so no one forgets what a wonderful man he was.......... Kim

I lost my Dad on Feb.2 what can I say. He was a wonderful Dad, Husband, Brother, Son and Friend. Everyone who knew him felt that way. He was 90 years old and ready to return to Gods arms.
I thought that deaths always came in threes. Well Dad was number 4 for DH and myself.

I miss talking to all of you and read a few days of posts. It sounds like your doing well and trying to keep warm. What a winter ??
I can't wait for spring. I now have DH convinced that we need a Roo. Maybe this spring. If there are a lot of extras maybe one will find his way here.
Stay warm and hugs to all of you.
Susie

I'm very sorry for all your loses.

Good morning all!

Signed the lease for new renters yesterday-and finished some painting...ordering carpet this afternoon to be intalled nest week-then hopefully that will be off my plate for awhile.

So weirdest thing-the green banty eggs I've been getting? Thought it was from my bearded/muffed/feather footed banty. I literally saw her lay one yesterday-hes are NOT green. Which leaves my Polish mix banty???? This is bizarre-no feathered feet, no face fluff.....Going to have to do some more sleuthing :p Also, I have one or two hens out there that are laying double yolkers pretty consitently-pretty kewl.

So Wally my Roo seems to be fully recovered. And the lady that emailed me about him-keeps asking. I am struggling with getting rid of him-hes sucha sweetheart!!! But I should probably jump on the chance to re home him if I can....decisions decision!!

Counting the days till my June shipment of chicks!!!

Morning All!
It sure is a beautiful one today! Got 7 eggs so far and Miss SG had decided that she wants to indeed brood...maybe...She was one the nest yesterday all broody and then this morning she was off it and the was stone cold, frozen. My guess was she got off the nest during the night. DH is thrilled "his" Girls all broody. Me, not so much. He though it was hilarious that I was all "great...stupid bird". He laughed and said "bet you wished your crushed her egg?" and laughed....Nope, I said, I actually like the aggravation she brings.....gives me something to blab about! Dh just asked me about it and if he needs to get eggs for her. I told him what I found and he rolled his eyes and said "she is so ADD". He said "We'll wait and she if she gets more serious." *sigh*
The coop seems emptier with out the pullets. I forget to tell you that all 15 of them are going to live in chicken paradise. 6 acres of chicken bliss on a little homestead surrounded by corn fields down by Moline Ill. They will be some of about 50 free ranging hens. They are going to have a terrific home. Their new mom loves chickens and she enjoys going out and just watching the girls.

Rabbits are doing great and so is Buzzy. She loves her heat lamp.

Susie-I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time. Hugs to you and your family.

CC-I know it is hard thinking of the babies as food right now. In a few weeks it won't be so hard. It also helps when I go to the store. After looking at the price of meat, my resolve hardens. Meat is so expensive. Dh and I are talking about possibly buying steer and have it processed, but we haven't planned it yet. A pig might be better size wise but I hate pork. Bacon is ok but the rest of the pork is

.
It's way cheaper to raise my own meat rabbits and chickens then buy it in the store.

Oh speaking if which, I need to place a chick order for some layers and meat birds.... If anyone is interested in splitting an order of chicks or wants to add on to my order, let me know!

Well, I'd better get going!
Later!

Good morning to everyone else too! Special hugs to you Susie!

Hard to go through all that again and again (and again) Your Dad sounds like he was wonderful! Godspeed to him!
Sunny and calm around here today! I plan on taking a drive up to a new resale tack shop in Columbus this afternoon. Met with my friend last night and she encouraged me to bring some of my "broken stuff" for her to fix so she'd have something to do while hanging out there. I hope she ends up with lots of work from the shop!
DH just told me about WHitney Houston being found drown in the bathtub in a hotel...what a waste...talk about a woman that had it all! I guess maybe we ARE better off just living the good life on our farms! (frozen water pipes and all...)
It took the incubator a while to recover from candling last night. I was surprised cause I didnt have it open but to reach in and pull an egg out and put one back. I dont think my other one had those issues...speaking of; I better get it ready to be "the hatcher" so I can let the Sunday school use this one. It will be easier to clean up for them since it has only been used twice (and not had an egg blow up in it!)

I think I am going to make some scrambled eggs and cheese curds (from my friend) I had some last night and man was that delish! Later all! Terri O

good morning, I don't have much to report.. I am just posting to keep Robin from whining
anymore.. "where is everybody ? why am I all alone on here ?" sheesh !!! If you must know, I was sleeping in.. and it felt good..

we got 4 turkey eggs yesterday..

the guy at the feed mill said that someday he was going to find a job where he could just stand around and take it easy.. one of the other guys said, you already have that job..

I was just informed that I was making pancakes this morning.. the bacon is already frying..
guess I better go and use up a couple of turkey eggs.. they make the nicest fluffy cakes.

I have to start carrying my camera with me.. I missed a nice shot of the big peacock sitting on the deck rail with his long tail hanging down..
the small peacock still has only about 6 tail feathers..Annie says ; like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree..
