Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Rules, schmools. That doesn't sound very outlaw-y to me. You just don't want your girls to have any fun.

Hey now, my Girls have loads of fun without any guy "help"! Roosters are all pesty and loud and bossy. My Girls would plan a rebellion and then I'd get no eggs until the Loud Dude was in a stew pot.
I'm a total outlaw. I have 12 hens instead of the "half dozen" the township thinks I have!!! Actually I have 10 hens, two don't count because they are not laying now and the 5 pullets don't count because 2 or 3 aren't mine and those that are mine are not laying yet....So HA!!!!

Oh yeah...TO Love the goats! I want to give that baby tons of smoochies! I love goatie butts. I miss mine so much...Chopper-Doodle was such an awesome goat...except for the yard ornament destruction.... Anyway, I hope that the little ones neck swelling goes down. Did you say how long that might take?

Gorgeous Afternoon Here... kinda hard to beat this winter, eh!
Nothing much new here....gotta plug the new Backyard Poultry Magazine....worth the bucks again for sure.
They have a article in their about Hatch Your Eggs...interesting point in there about lowering the temp by half a degree ends up with more females and raising the temp by half of degree end up with more males....also chicks left in the incubator for 24hours after they hatch suffer less heat stress as adults...

Nothing but Best Wishes for your Mom Doc.

Suzie had a hearing test today...she has hearing loss and a candidate for hearing aids....can't believe what they get for those things.

I live near Burlington... how 'bout you?"

Cindlady- I live in Mount Pleasant- just down the road from Burlington. I actually went to Union Gtove H.S. but that was a long time ago.

Hey Coz,

My sister lives in MT Pleassant and my brother lives outside of Union Grove. When I come down in March I'll bring you some roosters !!!

You're right, Apyl. Absolutely priceless! How cute!

Bigz, thanks for the info on the article. I looked it up online to see if there was any more info on lowering the temps but there wasn't.

When do you lower/raise them? From the beginning? Halfway through? What do you lower/raise them to, besides half a degree? They can't be too low or it'll delay the hatch.

I'm new to all this stuff. They say above all to follow the manufacturers guidelines. Well, mine says chicken eggs should be between 99.3 to 99.6. That's only a 0.3 margin. Hmmmm..........what do all of you experts say? Is it just a load of bunk? Jim? I just want some hens, d@**it all!
