Thought I would pass this info along. Get 10 free trees through the Arbor Day Foundation. Lots of choices for me here in NE WI maybe more for you southerners. Plus they will replace if they don't make it.

MLH, sorry, I meant to tell you how sorry I am for your loss of Cassie. All of us here know how much you loved her and did whatever you could to give her a quality life.

And I want to know what type of outfit the Chicken Fairy wears? Anything like what the Tooth Fairy wears? Isn't that similar to a Too Too ?

Oh sure , Ms diplomat ,, call names and then ask for advice.. just run some warm water into a cup ,that is deep enough for the egg to float.. gently put the egg in and do not move the cup.. if there is life in the egg, the egg will bob around in the water very visibly..

don't be so hard on that rescuer.. she is trying to help the dog.. just maybe she has no more room for anymore animals.. too bad that she is not a great orator.. a scared, timid dog is one of the most dangerous kinds.. and the safest thing is to put it down before it bites someone.. ya can't save em all.. and before you jump down my throat,, just examine your self first.. answer this.. have you ever put down an aggressive rooster? where's the difference ?

Cind, the cheapest place I found for the fingers was from Herrick Kimball on the whizbang chicken plucker website.. You will need 125 of them.. he sells them in lots of 25 per bag..

If the boys are using a 22 inch dia feather plate, , that will handle a goose.. the motor HP will need to be at least 1/2 hp.. 3/4 hp is even better.. you shouldn't need any larger motor than 3/4 ..

did I send you the photos of my plucker? I lost a whole mess of addresses when I switched to this computer.. I sent those notes and photos to 45 people and those are some of the addresses I lost.

I added about 6 more Delaware hens to the breeder pen today.. and that one I suspected was a roo, sure looks and acts like one.. and there is another one that is under suspicion , too.

I left a few lighter Del hens in the chicken coop.. I will let the Bl L red wyandotte breed those for egg pullets..

OK, while times are different today than they use to be...we all know that...I just want to mention that in our local paper...in the 80 years ago today section...one of the neighbor farms here (still run by kinfolk) placed an add in the paper....hatching eggs... $1.50 per 100 eggs. Just fricken cool to read that. We are lucky to have one of the oldest privately owned papers still alive.

I wonder if my Uncle that use to own this property bought from him....he had a huge coop.

No I haven't so I'm the wrong person to ask. lol I know, it's true you can't save them all. Sad but true. One good thing is theya re being honest about the dog which a lot of people aren't and then the dog gets tossed around like a dinner salad !!!

Hey, Jim, i've been meaning to ask. The Ameraucana's that you hatched. Do you know anything about the background of the birds? ie bloodlines etc. They are pure Ameraucanas right? Reason I'm asking is my one hen layed her first egg this week
yesss.gif
and the splash turned out to be a rooster. Man those Ameraucana's mature late. Anyway I have them together and am thinking about hatching some eggs. I'd get Blue and Splash with breeding them together. Then I was thinking about putting in a black hen so I would get all blues. Just don't want to mix my pure's not knowing if I decide to sell hatching eggs.
Guess the fishing isn't doing that well in Eagle River. 12 fish for 5 guys. I might stay home tomorrow. Let DH go !!! I did Jack today so can catch up tomorrow.

That would be nice to have a chicken plucker woo hoo. No more hand plucking for cindlady

Mine were free ranging today. The hens were fighting over real estate that has a few teeny tiny green sprigs coming out of the ground. I let the black silkies out to free range in their little fenced in area by the little coop. I think it was the first time the male has ever been outside. I had to put the white ones in the upstairs coop so the black ones had access. I have 2 white hens one is named Precious, she is so nice, the other one's name is B##ch, I remember why I named her that. As soon as she saw my hand she went "mhrehw" and grabbed my hand and held on and I believe twisted. What a personality difference. LOL

Another explicit picture in my mind's eye. About what the chicken fairy is wearing! You gotta stop that! Is he making pancakes too?

My blue wheaton Ameraucana cockerel from last year is still a shrimp. He is definitely low man on the totem pole. At least I seen him doin the deed to some hens so I know he can. It is very funny to watch him get beat up by a little bantam hen. Well not that funny. Poor guy! I was force feeding him cooked eggs because he is afraid to eat with other chickens around, but he acted like I was torturing him. I guess He will make it. He doesnt like to eat when he is caged seperate either.

Tike, where is "west central wisc" ? I thought I was living there,, maybe I can call myself central wisc.. bding just west of wausau..

anyhow, you can borrow my plucker when you do your butchering..

anybody on here can, for that matter..
