Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'm a newbie to byc and I'm getting ready to go in front of the town board in Sheboygan County to try to raise a hand full of Chix
for eggs...I'm zoned R-1 on an acre of land...the silly thing
about our zoning is that there is 500 aces in front of our home
that's un-build able...and there is 50 acres behind me that is all Hill/woods unbuild able also,I have 2 neighbors on either side of me...any advise you are willing to offer is much appreciated...
Thanks

I would have facts from other towns/cities that have had hearings, and what issues people had, and what solutions were offered, so that the people won the right to have chickens on their
property.
Also are you in the town/village OR in the township. Find out what your county ordinances are, and if they apply to you if you are in the township, vs in the town/village proper.
You may not have to go to your town board if you are zoned agricultural.
But I would check out the section here on BYC that has to do with zoning.
Good luck!!

I'm in the township of Rhine but I'm zoned residential...I talked to the clerk at the town hall and she says that I would have to go infront of the board to get permission...I didn't apply for a variance not wanting to pay $400 to have them say no to me...the clerk is putting me on their agenda to keep the cost down...

Awe she looks like a leghorn. Shes pretty.

Hey Mikaela My silkies are spurting out an egg every third day. The blacks are seperated, but I have a black and a splash with 2 whites and a white roo.

If you know anyone who lives in your township that favors chicken ownership, try to get them to come with you when you go in front of the board. I live in a township & have seen many people get approved or denied just by whoever in the "crowd" speaks up for or against them. Having a good reasoning behind it helps too, just so you know. Good luck!

Last post was for Run a Muck

RunaMuck's Ma lives in Arkansaw. RunaMuck the Neillesville swap is last saturday in March, you know they will be there before daybreak. Ya got anything to swap? Any cochins? How is Snapper? There is already a swap in Spring Valley? not to far from Menomonie and then the one at Wheaton Town hall and Lil OutLaw. I think that's why L LaGesse closed his down because of attendance problems. Welcome back.

As for answering little Miss Impatient, they had a very long drive to their new home, then had to try to deal with 3 very headstrong lav/split chicks (wonder where they got that from, Bf4?). One of them is definitely getting named Heather! Anyway, after the ordeal of dealing with Heather & Co., they were too tired to pose for a photo shoot. So
