Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

BigFam, I have been using the runkeeper app on my phone to track my progress. Just looking at how much I have done in just a few days is encouraging! It helps that my oldest DD goads me into walking/running every night..... then I get off my butt. Tonight I even ran for almost 1/2 a mile, walked the rest of it and put in 2.3 miles total! Now if my scale would start behaving...... I might toss it out yet.

I need to make a cherry pie for the DH, it was our anniversary today. Maybe we will make it out to eat or something in the next few days..... but there is a LOT of CBC to eat yet..... I might have to freeze some.

Night all!

Hi All!

Glad to see people are out getting things done! I've been doing stuff too but still feels like I'm behind...DH needs to move some stuff out of the shed area... I need more coop space!

Well, Young Son had his last day of work for the season. He works the ski hill at Grand Geneva Resort.

They had snowmobile races today! He worked it in shorts!

I was hoping to find some video but none seems to be posted yet. It must have been a weird sight watching snowmobiles running on little strips of snow while the fans watched in shorts and t-shirts!

I went outside about 10:30 and found Night Crawlers!!!!! Can't help but think we're going to pay for this weather!

The girls were very busy today. George took a few girls way in the back of the back acre... he seems to like to take the girls on adventures!

Prettyboy is more the homebody, he keeps his girls closer to the coop. George has definitely become head roo.

Jim... Are my guineas weird? Most of you with guineas got excited when you found eggs this winter. Mine have been laying all winter! They only had extra light for an hour or so day and the coop would get to freezing.... and still they layed. Of the 5 I get 2 to 4 eggs a day.

Guess I better make the chicken mash and get to bed. Night All

Good Morning Everybody! The birds are already singing including Peatwo. Yesterday since I was outside I left the appt. open, the lil kids got brave enough to go at least 3ft outside.

Well except for the ones getting chased by the mean hens. Been letting them intergrate with the big kids. Some of the chicks are as big as Btwo already think their New Hampshires and NH mix. One got a name yesterday it's Cheryl cause she looks like a Crow! Need to pick up the fencing and posts then think I'm gonna hook up the plow and learn how to use it. mazo's talk of plantin taters has me itchin. WIFC take the heat lamp away their plenty big enough now. TO almost did call but it was supper time didn't want to interupt for a hug. So here

Glad you posted that pic of the crocus didn't know what it was. Have a lonely one here and always look forward to seeing that blossom wish it lasted longer. unkadan how long does that plastic deer fence last? Was kicking around using it for garden fence but will probably use 2' welded wire then trim off the rust on the chicken wire for the top.

The Flycatchers are back! Things to do!

Good morning,

road trip this morning, get meet Jim after talking to him for a couple months. Pickup some cages then over to Antigo, need to get to F & S order or pickup some organic ferts, this early jump will help get the soil work done here. Then a stop at the butcher shop before FF on the way out of town

Joe, I fenced in an acre with that "Invisible Fence" last fall, part of a DNR program for crop protection. The fellow I worked with told me they have some out that is over 10yrs old and great shape. Not sure that Fleet has the exact same stuff. I had used this material years ago when I was in landscaping, goes up fast using T-stakes, here I have electric on the outside of the stakes and this stuff on the same stakes backside,,,add some reflector tape and it works well. IF you keep the gates shut,,,lol

http://www.bennersgardens.com/

that's the original site/material, it is sold at other places now but these guys manufacture it in the US

With all the posts on here, just wondering if anyone knew that it was 80 degrees out and St Patty's day this weekend! I'm not sure if I was on the computer more than just to look at my busted

bracket and a good chicken marinade! We were outside so much I even forgot about the badger game!

So we jumped the gun yesterday...Planted lettuce, radishes, turnips, peas, kale, and swiss chard. I do have the ability to make hoop or low row houses quickly if cold weather should peek its

Head! I just had to chance it!

Have a great day,

Joe

Good Morning. Well we put duckling out of his missery. He got so bad he couldnt roll back over on his own and was bleeding on his shoulders from all the flopping he was doing. I have a feeling there was something more than vitamin deficiancy wrong with him. He has seriosuly 1/2 the size of the other Pekin I got with him.

I really want to start some seeds indoors but I am trying to hold off. Last year I jumped the gun with seeds and it froze a week after I got the seedlings planted in the ground. As much as I would love for this weather to cooperate, I just know my luck. lol DH is suppose to rent a rototiller and till up a spot for me. I was originally going to use one spot, then it got moved to another and we were going to do raised beds, now he wants it in a different spot and just till up the ground and add some dirt to mix with it. I just old him whatever, as long as he fixes me a spot to plant my veggies. I do have two tomato plants in a pot outside. They're doing good, even though I only planted the seeds to try out a pot the kids and I made, but they grew so good I had to transplant to a larger pot. :)

The chicks are 3 weeks old today. :) They are growing so fast its so cool. Well except the silkies, they are still really small. They are getting the scragly thin feathers.

Hatching Quail today and Chicks tomorrow! We pulled a few blanks and are ready for the action!!!

Waterers and feeders are set and ready to go! Got a few families set up for the new chicks otherwise they will be coming home with me to join my brood.

They could hatch as late as Friday, but we will keep the bator rolling till Monday/Tuesday next week.

Talk to you all soon!

I wish I had someplace to start seeds..... I have some from Amyable that I should get started soon..... maybe I could just start them in cold frames since it is so nice out?

Anyhoo, enjoy this weather while you can! I should get outside and take care of the flower beds....

Later all!

Morning all! Just had to get on and catch up so I am not totally behind after the road trip today. My Aunt and I are riding together to Green Bay for her brother's funeral (my uncle) I offered to take my Dad and Mom with me but he says he's NOT GOING! No wonder family relations were not so great as I was growing up. He is very sad about the whole thing but still wont go...too far! Sheesh, it's your brother!

Looks like it will rain here today so I am keeping Tommy and the chicks inside. I would hate for them to get caught in the rain! The torts will enjoy it though...so they can be out.
well, I better get a move on here...gotta be in Milwaukee to meet my aunt at 10:30!
Have a great day! Terri O
(PS) sorry the duckling didnt show improvement....GO QUAIL!
