Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I was eyeing those pink blueberrys last year... that is a deal on them. Wish we had a TSC around us! I want to add some more blueberry plants this year!

So ... question- what are some part shade friendly food plants I can put in for the chickens? I will try lettuce and chard, but dont know what will do well in part shade. I want to plant next to their coop a garden so we dont have to mow, but prefer foods they would eat.

We love Blueberries. Last June we came across a TON of wild blueberry plants on the property. I cant wait for summer this year to pick more. Sorry as for the plant options I have no clue.

Frenchie, your piggies are adorable!

Oh my goodness it is HOT! I thought I would rake out the front beds in Capri's and a T-shirt.... I am so hot now I can't stand it, and it is only 73* outside. I think I need another shower!

Two eggs today, one looks like it was laid by one of the babies from last fall since it is smaller than the other one.

Some sad news today, one of the chickens from the first group I hatched died overnight. Cute little Chipmunk the EE. Those chickens are almost 3, so a little early for her to go, but she was also the smallest of the bunch and that might have been a factor (her siblings are MUCH bigger, Amy the Roo is one of them...). Anyway, I thought I would post a pic of her as a chick, she was one of the favorites of my kids.

I'm sorry your loss :(

Afternoon All!
Just thought I'd check in and get all caught up op on the reading. It's raining here---yeah---mud....

Got to Abendroths this morning to pick up more seminar chicks for the Steven's Point seminar this weekend. I may not be at that one. I will have to see if I can get all my chores done before Dh has to leave. I have 25 Gold Stars and 12 California Whites.

TO- Now that I sat down, I want a nap! Watched the Walking Dead last night and had a horrible Zombie induced dream so I never got to sleep really well.
So here is a deep dark MLH secret: I hate Zombies....Ya know how some people (like dh) are terrified of spiders or snakes or some other phobia? I have that same phobia about Zombies, it's called kinemortophobia or fear of the Undead. Zombies absolutely terrify me whether they are fake ie George Romero or real ie like the African VooDoo ones. I have even gone so far as to leave very very very strict instructions to have myself creamated when I die specifically so I don't come back as a zombie.
So why am I watching this show you might ask? Unfortunately Dh loves all things zombie.

Dh has been really proud of me for watching the show but last night was a tough one. I started to watch when there was more drama and less zombies and I could looks away at the zombie parts. I found that it is actually a great show writing wise. Although some of what the characters do is rather stupid when the world is infested with zombies- but to each his own.

Well, Iv'e got to go check the chicks and see of they want some food or if they are still drinking....

Oh Apyl and Bl4 that's so sad!

The wind picked up and it's boomin to the west and dark clouds movin in. Tractor plowed really nice didn't disc so well. It did ok but I didn't. That dang 3 pt creeps and on a turn it came all the way up and wedged the adjuster right into the top link and broke the casting on one of the adjusting segments.

Don't think this disc is really made for this tractor. It shouldn't hit when lifted.

Do you mean the stack of 3 adjusting holes casting? where the 3rd arm attaches? I can't imagine how that broke.. did something jamb ? twist ? any 3 pt disc should work with any tractor ..

what did the disc hit ?

OH O just re-read your post.. You were making a turn with the disc in the ground, right? You should have short chains to each of the arms to limit side swing.. they attach close to the PTO on two tabs.. should have a yoke on each chain for adjustment.. the chains are about 8 inches long..

Anyone want 9 lemon blue project bantam cochin eggs?
Edited to say -nevermind, they're sold!
And Jim, my ducks have been laying one egg every other day so it will be a while until I can ship call duck eggs.

Hey, Bigz, did you hear the big bangs too, or are you too far away? (I hope so).

Just saw it on the news down here. Some explosions in Clintonville that they can't find the cause of.

Important questions! Need answers! ASAP!
Where can I get a bunch of pine chips/litter? Does Menards carry that?
Where could I get some netting to put over the run? Menards? Farm and Fleet? What's it even called?
Hubby is going to Menards or Farm and Fleet in Baraboo TODAY. He is working on the coop and trying to get it good enough for big girls (and boy) to move in.
Btw... I have asked these questions before with no response... Hence the attention grabbing tone...

I buy shavings at Fleet Farm-cheapest and best consistency. And for the netting-I bought bird netting from Lowes-inexpensive and its worked great! Even with the heavy wet snow-only came down once all winter. I think it was 8 x 50 for like 14 dollars and just used zip ties to join the strips.
