Good Morning !! Busy day today, DD and I are going with our 4-H group to clean the HWY until 2pm then we have a picnic and meeting. Then back home to do more yard work as long as the weather cooperates. Today starts lockdown and I already have 3 eggs moving :) . I removed all the bad eggs so am left with 4 in the incubator, 2 Rouens and 2 Guineas. I candled last night and seen movement in all of them. Hopefully they all hatch. Well I guess thats about it, I better get ready to go.

Good Morning All! I'm right there with ya Cind. Got up at 4 for a potty break and made the mistake of looking in the bator the first one pipped right before my eyes. No back to bed for me. Second one at 5:30. Pretty weird hatch only had one rockin, was begining to worry. Want to get back in the garden today and the kids are coming for supper think I'm gonna need a nap.

Hi all!
Oh where to start! Well, it's my Anniversary today and DH is in Madison at the Horse Fair....No steak dinner for me tonight! Ah well, we'll make it up. It's been a whole 10 years since that cheesy chapel in Vegas where we got hitched! I can't believe it...seems longer.....maybe that's because I can never remember when we got married! I had to look at the old marriage certificate....

Ha ha! Wednesday is our anniversary! 14 years since we tied the knot in Vegas!

My hubby will be gone on the actual day too. He'll be out of town for work all week. We're supposed to go out for dinner this evening to celebrate. Anyway, Happy Anniversary to you!

Got one of my sole survivors in my lap; little Brahma had pasty bum, and also trying to right a splayed leg. I'm using an elastic hair band as a hobble. Do I have to take the hobble off to see if it can keep the leg under itself, or will it be able to stand with the hobble on? Don't wanna take it off prematurely as its a trick to get it on.

I am going to shamelessly ask for a vote on this Fine Art America contest: http://fineartamerica.com/contests/national-tv-photo-contest.html?tab=vote&artworkid=3481360 Many thanks. It's an egg photo!

I have SUPER CHICKS!!!

Woot! You go girl!

Btw Jim... I am so thankful Nora had all her puppies happy and healthy! I am also incredibly grateful they will be too young to go to new homes by the Bash!!!

I have one last chick I have to cull. It just sucks @ss! It's the one I was nursing in my basement. It made it through the worst and seemed to be doing better. I knew he was still weak when I put him out, but thought he really needed to be with the rest of them to improve the rest of the way. I don't think he's relapsed, just wasn't strong enough to be put back.

I have to get kids off to soccer.
Later...

1 chick! what the h3ll do you do with 1 chick? worst part of it was these were for someone else. $&*%#(@&&&$&#*@(@ the lone one is in with 2 duckling THAT was comical! the call was doing 360s on the food tray trying to get away from that strange thing lol the lone one needed a "bath" then it was shivering under the light so I snuggled with it on the couch lol under blankets lol
I got a birthday party this afternoon... I wish people would plan things on Sundays I don't do anything that day anyway lol
I gotta go see ya
ps Jim, 2 things, 1 bring those pups to the bash I can't afford one any ways lol
and 2 could you send me your directions for incubating.... thanks

later all

EL & MLH Happy Anniversary to both of you. We got hitched in Vegas too, 8 yrs ago. I choose the CandleWood Wedding Chapel because it was actually a little church and had a little old man organist. Beautiful little chapel. It was across from Circus Circus. Whooppee Goldberg got married their and I believe Kelly Rippa. I think they tore it down now, so much for going back to renew vows !!!

Maybe that's a good thing !!!

Where did you guys tie the knot ???

And now Elvis wasn't at my wedding !!!!

Happy Saturday!

I had a great hatch...just put 13 chicks ( out of 14 possible ) in my brooder this morning. These are Barred Plymouth Rocks from my own stock. I don't think I have ever seen such round butter ball chicks in my life! They are plump! They look good though. I wish I knew how to attach pics because I have a bunch I could share....I am working with an IPad so I know there are probably limitations. Grrrrrrr! The biggest thing I have had to learn ( mostly the hard way ) is to exercise extreme patience during the hatch. My new rule is NO opening the incubator FOR ANY reason between day 18 and day 22 . Even though the hatch usually begins on day 20...... No no no do NOT open until every single chick is out and dry OR day 22 - whichever comes first. No exceptions. Every time I break that rule I sacrifice chicks that have not had a chance to finish hatching. It is so hard to see those first hatchlings...still in the incubator up to 48 hours after they have hatched...they look so thirsty and hot. But they are FINE to be left for even 72 hours! I find it is better not to watch so closely. You can easily convince yourself of a hundred GREAT reasons to open that incubator......

Anyway looking forward to meeting everyone at the bash! I will definitely bring extra chicks I have for sale. Enjoy the sunshine!
