Looks like momma, one of my 7 year old Lt brahmas is broody. I'm gonna give her some blue eggs that will be crosses if they hatch. I don't have the heart to break her, and she will be happy as can be! Sure hope the old men have been giving them attention...my blue roo is seperate due to all the fighting that the bucks deliver him.

Yep, it';s amazing how much everything has greened up in the woods Doc. Hope you can bag a nice Tom and enjoy the wild fare with a long tall cool one of choice.

Bigz... Better looking than what I thought... But you look nothin' like your avatar... :p

Well, we culled our first chicken! I should say that DH did the deed and has it in the water. I just don't have it in me (yet) to take the life from something. I know this sounds pathetic to all of you seasoned chicken keepers.

Afternoon all!
Just checking in and getting up the gumption to totter on outside in this dismal weather to top off rabbit water and turn of the lights in the coop. Dinner is in the oven. We are having pasties tonight, Mine's chicken and DH's is beef..

BigZ-nice turkey's. Although you look nothing like I pictured.....I pictured you more like Santa...I have no idea why....

Amy-nice ducklings!

Well, I'd best get outside...dragging my feet in not getting my chores done....

good afternoon, the garden seeds came from Jung today.. Now all we need is warmer weather.. I was going to plant potatoes this weekend, but not when it is this cold.. maybe tomorrow will be warmer ?
I didn't get much done in the garage/shop either..
My next excuse will be that it is too warm to work..

BigZ is the one with the hat on, for you folks who don't know him.. otherwise it would be hard to tell..

ducks: remember that muscovys have effective claws.. You have to control their feet when handling them if they are not used to being handled.. and they can fly like a bird .. oh yeah, I forgot, they are birds.. on cold sunny days, they like to sit on top of cars.. Muscovys are the quiet ducks, verbally. they just sort of whisper and whistle..
for the other breeds, female ducks are the loud ones.. the drakes are almost voiceless..

I agree, all ducks are messy with their water.. their goal in life is to see how fast they can splash every drop of water out of any size and shape of container..

It is almost too late to take my nap.. maybe a short one.. eh?

Good Morning All! WELCOME to all the new people! Dan I'm with ya on the medicated feed. Just think things should be more natural. It is what it is. FT I must be hitting the bottle too because what Bigz said made total sense to me. Your alright it's the rest of the world! Really honest! Cind don't give up on the stove weekend yet I'll be watching the weather as that weekend gets closer. My cat Bob comes out to the coop but won't go in. He just sits there passing judgement on them and always comes to the same conclusion. Their all a pain in his A! Bigz my time must be getting closer when my eyes popped open this morning the first thing I thought of was that I had to get my decs out and check them. I have those foam ones and they need time to open up. Hope your [Boy] heals fast! Walked out back to my #1 blind yesterday and there was one bird right where I wanted it. But suspect it was a lone hen. Didn't get a good look at it but watched it for a couple of minutes before it felt it was being watched. Man the foliage is thick already. Might have to move upstairs into the condo. Jim be nice to DAS he doesn't realize that your the hatch master..... In a tutu. Started moving the wood pile in yesterday and I pushed some brush back for a bigger staging area. I got to play with both tractors I got to play with both tractors! Somethings wrong with the smilie faces. I gotta go......

DrH, Jim doesn't have to be nice to me. I can take it. I know he is the hatch master (in a tutu) and I

before his infinite wisdom. I'm sure the only reason he couldn't remember how many days to hatch peas was because it was late and he was sleepy from hatching and setting all those eggs. I wanted to make sure he got a good nights sleep so I thought I'd help him out. I have about 60 peas, including my yearlings-so the number of days it takes to hatch them is kind of stuck in my head.

By the way-he is a she.
