Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Sunny Morning All! No time to read this morning I flipped through to find Cind's post. Cind we decided to stay home this weekend and go up the following weekend so whatever day/ time works for you. I'll either be turkey hunting or fishin so I need an approx date/time. Let me know before Sat.

Rough start to training week. I have a 40 hr week at work with a major test at the end of it. This will provide me with an opportunity to promote internally and give me some valuable skills when working with kids. I got the first 8 hrs done and then swapped out the rotor, cap, plugs and wires on my swagger wagon (1992 Toyota Camry Station Wagon). I was at a friend's house and was able to start my payments to him in beer. In the next month or so I will have him do the gas tank and fuel pump setup. He would like to borrow one of my motorcycles for the summer as payment. So that is good.

On my way home I was given a great call from my wife that she wanted me to pick her up something to mix into coffee/hot chocolate. So I stopped at the local shop and grabbed a bottle. While I was trying to pick something up I get a call...

One of those calls that any pastor hates... My wife is leaving me I need you to come over. Needless to say I got home at 1130pm and am exhausted. Now it is time for a quick shower and back to work. I didn't get a chance to check on my peeps yesterday, but my wife got my eggs for me.

I wish I had time to do everything I needed to.

Just now forgot that I needed to work on a wedding ceremony for a couple for this weekend as well.

Morning all!
Just thought I'd check in before I pay bills, catch quail and go meet TO!

Ah...old school books....as much as I do love them, sadly those will be a thing of the past. I have to say that I too was very anti-ebooks but I found that getting a book instantly without having to track down an endangered bookstore is rather nice! I am also a total book snob. I can't read a used book. It grosses me out. To me, reading a used book is like wearing someone elses underwear! My book have to be prestine! LOL!
That is were ebooks rock! They are new and clean and wonderful! Plus I can read reviews for a new author or book and some times even read parts of the book to see if I like it. The only down side is soaking in a bath with an e-reader might be the wrong thing to do but I have no bathtub so I'm good there!

Well, best get to the bills.....
Later!

Good sunny morning to you to DrH and everyone else! Sure is nice to see that blue sky out there!
Ken--sounds like you have a rough week ahead! I had to read your post first cause the first time I didnt get the connection that you took the class and THEN went to work on cars and drink beer!
gig.gif
I first thought that was part of the class...but then I got to the beer part and had to reread.

Yes the bash is kinda like camping but way easier! There is a full kitchen and lots to eat so you dont have to bring too much in that department except for your dishes to pass. Also there is a shower and even a bunkhouse if you dont have a tent or camper! The best part is the fire ring and the companionship way into the night right guys?

So today I go to pick up my Bob's. I am meeting MLH for coffee so I guess I shouldnt drink too much here at home...then I am going over to the lady's house that bought chicks (the one she returned died last night) to give her ideas on how to turn her corn crib into a chicken coop. THat should be fun. I can put some lovin' on her cria and baby mini horse! She loves my farm...I love hers. Total opposite in farms!

SO I guess it's happy May Day to you all...my DH was telling me how it is a Communist holiday....oh brother.

RAIM--that is an excellent idea about the built ins. I had a room like that as a kid. shelving along the walls that was perfect for my books next to the bed and the dresser went into the knee wall too. Saved a whole lot of space!

Well, DD tells me she needs 6 dozen eggs today...better get to it! Have a great one! Terri O

TO- tell your DH, May day is actually a Pagan ritual along with Beltane, it was one the Soviet Union kept.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day

So excited I've just got to share!

I'm a grandma again. Nesco was born . . er. . hatched sometime early this morning. Not sure if Nesco is a pullet or a cockerel, bit it looks just like Daddy - minus the comb, feathers, and attitude of course.

Named Nesco because after I took the eggs away from Mom - she tossed the first two hatchlings out of the nest - I put the remaining eggs into my Nesco Roaster where they have been - warm and cozy - for the past 4 days.

I sadly fear the other 3 siblings who should have hatched last Thursday or Friday are toast (or became toast while I was trying to adjust the 'biosphere' of the Nesco?)

It's the first time I've home hatched a chick! Nesco will be joined by 5 other varieties of day-old chicks on Wednesday, so he won't be raised all alone. The grandchildren and I are tickled as heck.

good morning, took care of all the birds already.. didn't make coffee, going out for some..

I could plant some more potatoes today, but I think it will be too wet in the garden..

no more activity with the call duck eggs.. now I am getting concerned.. and , not one of those, but I can smell an egg going bad.. I am quite sure it is one of the other duck eggs..

puppies are two weeks old today.. their eyes are opening.. I tried sending some pictures last night.. I am such a clutz with that operation.. I have to do it more often.. maybe I should start a "picture of the day" sort of thing until I get used to it..

Well I had a busy weekend, I am now "dog sitting" and doing some basic training of a 2 yr old blue/tri colored male Aussie.. he is currently rolling around on the floor and upside down in the living room here with me. He came from a slag heap of a farm, where an Eskie has gone nuts and bites if touched (caused by his owners WHOM have had him all his life), a Yorkie who had puss and goop in her eyes so bad she couldn't see, a Scottie who desparately needs a home. And this poor Aussie who was inside and loved as a puppy, then shoved out into a fenced yard with a section of a barn or shed set up as their shelter.
He had not had a collar on EVER till sunday, never been leash trained, never been restrained, not house broken...BUT great around horses, LOVES people, seems to really respect cats and birds.
So I get him for 2 weeks to "tame him", and get him neutered, bathed, house trained (well started!!) and some basic leash training.

My broodie Jaerhon cross hatched out 4 chicks, I took a white/yellow one and a pullet, and left her with two males (purebred jaerhons). One disappeared.. and she didn't want to set anymore.
I salvaged 4 eggs and have them in the incubator. I candled them and saw Large dark masses so HOPED the chicks might still be alive.
fl.gif

I had them in the turner.. and saw a pip yesterday.. so moved them to a flat spot in the bator..
AND soon! I found this fellow.

I am 90% sure its a boy, jaerhon, with the amount of yellow on the head.
Well I am off to to grocery store, to my friends farm to introduce his new dog to his horses, cats and goats.
Then to feed my flock, and then to a clients home to muck stalls, then home for laundry and dishes...
the funniest thing about Bo (formerly Demon- yes I know. WOW who would name a dog that??)
He grins, not the happy lolling tongue.. he does that too.. but when he is anxious to please he grins by bearing his teeth
like a human grinning.. he is a hoot!! Now that he is coming out of his shell..
The fun part will be introducing him to a crate.. BLEH!

Oh and thanks for the reminder about 'grand parents/parents"..
My DH's father called and then DH called him back, he wants us to come out in the fall..
It seems his wife who is younger than I am, is expecting again. A little girl this time.
So now my DH has a younger brother who is 3 and now a little sister (due in October).
DH is 47 going on 48....

I am happy for him, and his wife.. but HAVE to laugh..
he wasn't around at all for my DH in his early childhood.. OR most of his young adult life.
