I love goats!!! I will be getting at least one to put in with the horse. I've been having a hard time finding one close by that's not $75. I want cheap whether. I will not pay more than $25. Here are pictures of "Ruger".

Just finished cutting the grass. Hubby will be so happy when he gets home and sees one less chore he needs to do! I'm just thankful the baby slept so long and allowed me the opportunity to get it done! i was expecting 15 minutes before the older kids came out to tell me she was up!

I finally got my copy of Veritas Wellness today! It's a natural health magazine that published a submission I wrote about why I chose to homebirth. It's kinda odd and exposing to have your own story published in a magazine. A couple of pics too.
Alright the baby has finally woke up so I gotta run!

yep, I know that even those with years of experience end up dealing with these types of problems. Friends of ours who have raised chickens for 15+ years deal with this and other issues. No ones flock is total protected and it's the chance we take raising them. As of right now I have 4 chicks left out of the original 11 chicks. The goal is now to get them eating and drinking again or they won't stand a chance of pulling out. Making them a mash right now to encourage them to eat.
Well today my sister gave me to Rooster they are so pretty and so friendly. My 1 year old hen tried to kill them she is so mean to new chickens. So I have her in a pen to get used to them maybe she will like them in a few days. If not shes going to have to find a new home or make a good stew for dinner LOL. Any body have any idea to make her nice to all of my chickens? She still beat up on my BO and Blk Star and they are going to be laying any time now. I need to take pictures of the rooster so I can put up on here. Her rooster she hatch herself and they are brothers to each other so they do not fight each other. They follow each other around every where. I wonder what my husband is going to say when he gets home from work.

Hi folks,
great day for working here today, cloudy but mid 60's and NO wind,,,,,,,,,spent a couple hours potting up plants. Glad I cut back on maters this year,,,last year over 500 lots of re potting and since my focus isn't selling plants a lot of time spent
some have asked about varieties, mostly heirlooms that I will bring,,,you can google or ask for what these are,,,,lol
Stupice, Black Cherry, Lynwood, Buraker's* Favorite(excellent "pineapple"/yellow fruit, huge as well), Goose Creek, last year I had 25 varities here these are the one's that made the cut for replanting, did well both in the gh and out in the field. I had 100 plants in the gh last year and harvested right at 3,000 lbs of fruit,,,,very happy with that 1st year, I grow in the soil and string to overhead supports.
I should also have some basil and bell pepper plants as well,,,,,these I just started a few days ago,,depends on germination and getting them re potted
chickens are doing fine, had my best day ever selling eggs and now acquired 3 more year around neighborhood customers I need more layers like "right now",,,,just talked to a fellow in the UP has some BSL's and Cuckoo Marans,,,,whatcha think do I need another type of Marans?,,,,,
bbl with pics,,,,dinner needs finishing,,,pulled BBQ pork and sweet potato fries, with a spinach salad,,,nummm

BBP-Your new horse is gorgeous! He has a very kind eye! I think your son and he will have a ball! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask there are a few horse savvy people here in this thread. If one of us doesn't know the answer to a question, I'm sure someone-else will!
BTW, I'm sure CC will find a goat for you....you know how she is.... she is a CL Stalker.....I mean watcher.....
H&R-sorry to hear that the babies have cocci. Bummer....
CLWI-Your hen mean hen is the dominant one. She is just doing her thing to establish the pecking order and keep the other hens in line. The best thing to do is give the flock a lot of space and if you can, place more then one waterer and feeder in their area. Also if you can give the less dominant ones a place to hide from her, that helps. The rooster may either be young yet or he is not a very dominant rooster. If he is young, as he matures he should start to put that older hen in her place.
Generally speaking, after a few days, things settle down and they hens get on with their business.

Afternoon All...Busy morning at Camp. With two pickups and 10 guys we hauled wood and stacked the wood shed...still some void, but mostly filled, room for prolly 4 or 5 faces yet.

The stupice maters are a smaller, but very flavorful variety. I'm not familiar with the others. Peppers are slow growers and take longer to germinate...just sayin.
I think your dominant hen should be saved and you should simply give them time to sort things out like most chickens do....after all it's her home and her space he is invading CL. I'd be upset too and so would you. Introducing newbies sometimes can take awhile.
Good luck with the coccidiosis, hope you guys can save the rest.

yep, the Stupice are from eastern Europe, supposed to be 50 day variety,,,didn't quiet do that fast here, a shorter indeterminate/determinate (never understood that) but produced great all season I sell them as a salad tomato

Unk ... Don't get more marans. They are not a prolific layer. The eggs are darker because they take so long in the oviduct. Not to mention, don't mix and match all different type of marans, or you'll end up getting garbage looking chickens. If you need more chickens for filling orders, get some that lay 4 or 5 eggs a week. Just my opinion.....
