Morning all!
I need to take some Advil....my joints ache this morning from the long car ride!
Just got done caring for the critters and such. I even trimmed Harry Bunnies toe nails. Man were they long! I feel bad about that especially since he lives right next to the TV in front of the couch! He was excellent though for his nail trim and have I have not mentioned recently just how much I love this rabbit!

Well, DH is going to finish tilling my flower bed so I can plant it...finally!! Then the next project will be to till another part of the yard to make another flower bed. I had decided that all the places next to the house that are horrible weed collectors to make flower beds. The place I want to put this one will get full sun so I might be able to plant a herb garden after all! And a few rose bushes because I love roses. Oooooh and mums because I love mums.....So many possibilities!!

Well DH wants to get a bite to eat before tackling yard work. I think I'll mow while he is tilling....the lawn is obnoxious again...man I cannot wait till fall....

So, does anyone have experience with showing chickens at the fair for FFA and such? Because I don't, and my little sister would like me to get her a chicken to show, but neither of us know anything about showing them quite honestly. XD. Little help, or links perhaps?

My kids show chickens for 4-H. I am guessing that you would need to contact either the fair office where you are or the FFA to see what forms are needed to register. Once you have it figured out which birds you want to enter based on the catergories available, you would fill out the forms and send in. Usually the weekend before we have to take the chickens to the fair, we was all those who are going and a back up for each breed going if you have them. We use big tubs-deep enough and wide enough to get the bird in up to their neck. In the 1st tub we use warm water plus dog flea and tick shampoo and denorax shampoo- to help remove any bugs and such. Once we have the birds washed all the way to the skin we move them to the 2nd tub with warm rinse water in it- here you rinse the chicken off. Next we use old towels and dry each chicken as much as we can. We set up wire dog crates on the grass and put the chickens in there until they are completely dry- make sure to give them water and some shade :) Until they go to fair we try hard to keep them clean. Hope this helps and good luck.

Awe so very sorry vic about your friend

Some of my chickies did have vent gleet and I used powdered bluestone for them. It did seem to work.

Icelandics? BF4 I am jealous! LOL A I got enough chickens though.

When my youngest son was about 1 1/2 years he got a lure stuck in his cheek at a picnic. Ugh! Emergency room trip there.

Here is my flower. I also have some tiny purple ones that haven't bloomed yet. If I get around to it I am digging up the vaque blue and white ones and setting them by the highway for anyone to pic up.

Argh! well maybe next post. I planted wheat in part of one of their pens and then put 2 long rrties and a chain link panel on top so they couldnt get to it. My blue w ameraucana stayed inside the whole time and when I was done with it he came out and I think he thinks it is a toy for him. He got on it and seemed to be using it for a trampoline. Bounced a bit and flapped his wings a lot. LOL silly boy. Then the girls did too.

It was great getting to meet everyone this weekend & my kids had a blast. I know a few people are on FB too. Can you add me? [email protected]

It's too bad you didn't get a picure of the water balloon fight. I was surprised when Abby said she had never been in one before. She also didn't know how to tie a balloon. I taught her how and have now enriched her life beyond measure...
