good FFF to all, we transferred chicks this AM.. they all are enjoying their new more spacious digs..Annie even kicked the day old keets out to the chicken coop brooder.. 36 of them..
I had to chuckle at the youngsters in the brooder pen outside.. they just could not stay awake with the sun shining on them.. a couple of the smaller ones squeezed through the 1" x 1" squares in the gates.. I had to round up 3 of them.. we left the 5 quails in with the smaller chicks. they are only slightly larger than most of the chicks.. we did not do an accurate count , but there are about 275 to 300 chicks and guineas..
I am weaning he older ones over to ground oats and corn.. they took to it without any hesitation..
right now they have their choice of meat maker or oats/corn..
I wonder if diet has something to do with pasty butt ? I have only occasional problems with day old to week old chicks.. and they usually just grow out of it..
Hey, lighten up on that lady who lost all of her stock.. we don't know all the facts.. as far as hearing what is going on, my coop could blow up like a stick of TNT and I prolly wouldn't hear it..
and as far as protecting her animals,, I know of more than one person even on cheese heads who have had their own dogs kill their birds..
and I see nothing wrong with her trying to sell back the feed she doesn't need.. I know people who buy things today and return them tomorrow.. and so do all of you..
I did not get the tomatoes transplanted.. tomorrow is always a good time for things like that..
that is a nice big tractor for your tiny lot.. get a sickle mower for it and your lawn will be mowed in about 5 minutes.. when we first moved into our house, we didn't have a single tree or bush anywhere.. I had a Farmal Cub with a 5 ft sickle mower.. I would put the end of the mower against the foundation of the house and go all the way around. then I just kept swinging wider with each round until the lawn was all mowed.. 5 minutes and I was done.. then I got real stupid and planted trees.. what was I thinking ??
wiCC,, who were you referring to that was earning her keep? the leghorn hen, or Annie?
the puppies can easily rest their elbows on the boards across the gate into their pen.. It won't be long until the first one accidentally tips themselves out..
OH oh, I see keet #37 at the door.. 37 divided by 49 = about 80% ? doing it in my head.. you can use a calculator ..
