Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening all!
All is good here! Got 4 eggs today from the Girls. The rabbits are much happier with the cool down in weather as am I!

Had steaks and sweet corn for dinner and DH is baking an apple pie we got from the U-Bake store down in Janesville.

That's about it here. Tomorrow I might mow the lawn but it will take me forever to clean up the yard from all the tree debris from the storm. I have the oddest tree parts in my yard and I have not idea where they came from! LOL!

Ken-nice hatcher/soon to be incuator!

Dan-Nice bear pics. I've only seen then when they were under anesthesia at the vet hospital I used to work at. I kinda stayed away from then when they were awake....I hope you can get the ppl to trap him and hoepfully relocate him more then 35 miles this time!
I've been meaning to ask you...what breed of rabbits do you have?

WCc-hope you can figure out the battery issue with your van...that is odd

Kristi-all my POL pullets all seem to lay their first eggs on the run....After they lay a few times then they seem to migrate over to a nest box. That has been my experience at least. Maybe your girl is doing things the "right"way!

Well, that is about it for me. I need to go clean up the kitchen before the Hatfields&McCoy's come on

FYI, it wasn't state ppl that live trapped the bears last year,,,somehow the DNR pawned that duty off to the USDA, yeah the DNR still makes the $$ selling permits and mis-managing the bears for profit,,, just like they did the deer in the state.

anyway,,,to get them to trap the bears last year I simply told them the could bring the trap or the next time I had a problem I would remove the problem,,,,,,,repeated that same message today,,,we'll see if they get here with a trap again

yes electric fencing works,,,,I have the 1 acre garden fenced,,,,,but an electric fence to protect my backyard and outbuildings is a bit much,,,,,,,,,
The DNR and or local governments pay the USDA or APHIS to control or get rid of nuisance animals.

Well we all have our ups and downs.. and this is mine....
You all I am sure remember last year when Joan had her stroke and I thought I would have to get rid of ALL my chickens...
Well we did place a lot into homes, and I was able to start over...

I called the police in Bismarck ND and spoke to the dispatch who spoke to the watch commander... and got a call back I have to call the Attorney general for this one county and it is likely to be a fraud case on the part of my former employers.
I will be calling the police OR the AG in Olalla WA to do the same thing...

That said.... I need to cut back, on chickens, 1 pony, 3 parakeets, and try to preserve what I have, and really focus on that...

Awww I'm sorry you have to cut back, that stinks. If I had the money and was closer I would buy some but of course we're broke and to far. I wish you luck.

Evening everyone. Well I broke down and brought Shifu back inside. Yeah I know I should just make he stay outside but its so pathetic. She is picked on by the roosters and all day today she laid in my flower bed ontop of my work gloves I was wearing this morning while weeding. I think I'll keep her inside until the day old chicks get here next week. Plus it will give her feathers time to grow more. She's 5 weeks old tomorrow and still not fully feathered. Her feathers are the slowest growing out of all the ducks we've had so far.
Here is a pic of Shifu safe and sound in her brooder just now.

Crazy windy here too today. 40+ mph winds and I still got eaten alive by the skeeters. How does that happen????

Unk, cute bear. No, I don't need one, but thnk you anyway.

BBP's electric fence idea around your house/outbuilding area sounds like a good one. With all the wildlife up there, I would think it would be a great predator threat deterrant, and give you a little peace of mind. Might be worth a try?

Ghost, I hope your days get better from here on.

Carol, I would have bought your Dominique in a heartbeat, but SOMEONE, not mentioning any names, HEATHER!

ETA: Awww, poor Shifu! It is extremely difficult to add a single addition to any flock. I hope she will like the new chicks and they will all integrate more smoothly. I would have brought her back in too. Big meanies!

Ooooohhhhh so sorry CC! You snooze (or roll to slowly) you lose :p

I have ALL these chickies but still far away from eggs. Are you gonna deny a girl home made eggs while feeding the masses who aren't even close to laying?!

I might arrange a trade... Moose juice for future chicks...?

Btw... It looks like I have another LO cockerel. If that's the case that means I have 2 of them and 2 splits pullets. Ummmm... No thanks. It will be LO Roo for dinner in the future...
