vic... like Jim said..they can't taste "hot" like peppers. I put spicy hot stuff in their mash in winter to warm them up.

Angi... nice paint job... love those vases!

TO... That foam spray stuff FT mentioned might work too... and you could shave it into shape if needed. Just don't over spray... that stuff swells allot!

CU later...

Ye thanksss for the link angiebuds. This is why we test for pollurum (aka salmonella) at hatcheries (supposedly), when people sell chickens , mail chickens, take to swaps, shows,,,etc. At least the responsible backyard flock owners do. I have yet to see a swap or show that lets any chicken past the gate that hasn't been tested. And in the state of Wisconsin at least, according to a friend of mine, there hasn't been a positive for 40 some years.

Evening All... no need to feel sorry for any statements here Unk, however liberal opinions from folks that don't even buy a license or hunt at all shouldn't apply. It is a heated issue amoung the WBH members and a clear answer is not easy for anyone involved. This issue is a heated one for sure. Bating rules are determined by the DNR...it's their deer and bear. Just because one baits, doesn't make it easy...ask anyone who does and still doesn't fill a tag, especially when you wait ten years for a bear tag. paying yearly fees just to apply. Jim hit the nail on the head with the comment about hunting on the edge of corn, hay and bean fields.....what's the difference? We have enough laws and rules....what about freedom of choice? Isn't that what we fight wars for? If you don't bait fine....if I choose to bait fine....are you paying my property taxes?

Great pics...again thanks for sharing them.

I figured you weren't cheating and looking at the keys frenchie!

Ghost, Magees has alot of customers keeping their feed fresher and their prices can't be beat. I'm still only paying $9 per 50lb bag, and that's including tax. Compare labels, and i think you'll see it's also a premium feed. You might be thinking of the time corn prices went up....for all the mills. I have good results, and never had moldy feed from them....ever.

Wish that were true

In 1996 a friend of my hubby's talked us into taking some of the chicks he had ordered from someplace thru a feedmill (said he had to order a minimum of 25 and was kind of stuck). anyway, we had a little 3 month old Lhasa Apso puppy at the time. It was warm weather and these chicks were a little older so we just had them out in the grass in a little makeshift pen and a shelter during the day. Our puppy fell in love with them and it was soooo cute to see them play together, until, less than a week later we went out for a fish fry and came home to find my puppy staggering and looking half-dead! I am sitting up all friday night praying that my poor puking and diahrea tormented puppy will live until morning so I can get her to the vet. I already had a good idea what it was (I worked as a vet tech prior to our moving north) and unfortunately I was correct. My "baby" had Salmonella. With IV fluids and drugs she made it. I tried to warn the "friend" and to explain that you cannot vaccinate for salmonella but he just kept arguing with me that he had paid extra for all the chicks to get shots.

and wound up losing his temper so I just gave up, my hubby told him we didn't want the chicks anymore and so would he please find another home (which we really didn't at the time anyway~we had just moved onto the land and there was basically nothing here yet, not even our final house!) and he came and took them back. I have no idea where these chicks originally came from, but since he got them in the mail I assumed they came from out of state.

Well some of us don't think that the DNR own the wildlife of this state. Although they do use the wildlife as a source of income for all that fine research they do, oh and don't forget the new "Deer Czar" from Texas hired(250k+) by our money thrift Governor. Any thoughts on the 2 new ppl in charge of the DNR?,,both ex-real estate developers....Our tax dollars at work. I'm not too happy about my taxes, permit fees, or license fees headed that direction.

Part of my comments on the DNR and the $$$ generated from a state resource is reflected in your comment about paying fees for 10 years just to get the chance at a kill permit,,,,Why would they want to bring the bear population to reasonable levels when they have this racket going?

Don't ever throw that freedom of choice line at me,,,,,I'm one of those that fought for it. My freedom of choice is to choose not to blindly follow the line of thinking that the DNR is looking out for our wildlife and not their own best interest. I have many friends that work for the DNR, no problem with field technicians, research, or law enforcement, unfortunately these are the positions being cut for the last 10 years to pay the bureaucrats at the top of the department.

opppps,,,,back on the podium,,,,sry,,,I'll keep my hands off the keyboard for a while

unless I'm baited
