TO- it's not too hot for the raccoon's, considering I just shot one that was on my porch xD By the way, both the eggs from your black am's are developing, I must have luck or something xD

Vicky its neither! It's a deluxe cot so you are up off the floor, but not so comfortable that you miss the experience of being woken up by a rooster (or 6). Part of Heathered Hill Estates country charm. We also allow you to gather your ultra fresh eggs for a homemade breakfast. We have it all!

another storm cell ran through around 7,,,lost power,,,again,,,,WPS (there's an oxy) says by 11:45,,,,,generator running all the cords run again,,,,,,,

just caught the end of a larger system,,from the radar looks like Forest Cty got hit again

just guessing but must of had gusts over 50mph

this gets old fast,,,,,it did cool off outside,,,but with the added rain I'm sure the humidity will be nasty tomorrow

had to get fuel, didn't rain a 1/2 mile from here, city had some wind damage,,,neighbors lost some trees,,the big white pines were whipping pretty good over the farm,,,,,,,,,always makes me nervous

the upside was all the birds went in the coops early, with the first big blow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol

ok,,,,fueling up and eating more ICE CREAM!!!

Just missed us! We sat on the back porch and watched mother nature's fireworks. Quite a show! We got some nice cool wind too

but it looks like we could get hit by the next one. Hope your power isn't out too long. 12 is reporting that there are 7000 w/o power again.

Hope ours holds this time.

BTW~while I was off somebody hijacked my email account now I am getting "undeliverable" messages from the administrator literally by the 100's!

Got it under control but it will probably take another 12 hours or so for all the creep's messages to get done bouncing. From 2 different url's , new york and the uk, geesh.

I don't chill well. It usually involves no phone, no kids, and no people. I am learning to relax, but it is tough when I am on call nearly 24/7.

This heat is a B!TCH!!! Not only am I doing chores 5-10 min. at a time.... but I HAVE to go to the bank and pick up feed! If not for the bank thing I could send young son

But I have to cash a check. Groceries I can do after dark, but bank and feed have to be day sh!t. OH well.

Good Morning!

Gonna be another hot one out there today...

Spent four hours yesterday sitting in front of the local Kmart collecting donations for the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) "Forget Me Not" flower campaign. Hot? I drank six 16oz waters and NEVER had to take a bathroom break! LOL

The only thing that made it bearable, besides the worthy cause, was the people watching. It was interesting to see what some people actually wear in public on such a hot day.... LOL - and that's all I'm gonna say about that... It is interesting to watch people as they walked towards me, their eyes would find ANYTHING to look at besides me. These same people wouldn't acknowledge a greeting and of course couldn't be bothered dropping any spare change into the jugs...

I actually had one young guy greet me and say "I'll get you on the way out, I don't have any cash on me right now" (which by the way is what a lot of people say) - anyway, this guy apparently forgot about me and about an hour later comes driving up in his truck, stops right in front of me, jumps out and swears how sorry he was as he drops five bucks into the bucket... There are some pretty neat people out there. Little things like that restores my faith in humanity and generally MAKES MY DAY! LOL.

In about a half hour, I'm heading North to Escanaba and and a few smaller cemeteries in the area to plant some stones. There are only two of us and we have a goose neck trailer with over 35 granite stones we need to deliver/set-up... It will be nice getting out of the shop.... I think. LOL

good morning everyone, I am so sick of the heat, I feel so sorry for the ladies, It was 90 in their coop last night when I closed their door. Today, I think I am going to run the sprinkler in their coop area s they get a cool shower. I walked the dogs this morning at 4:00am it was still 75 degrees and humid. they were happy to get out, but happier to go back in the air conditioning.
In Wausau they cancelled the fireworks due to wind blowing in the wrong direction. I am not sure about Mosinee, It is pretty dry in my area, I am hoping it cools off soon so I can get in the flower beds and put in some around the coop.

On now before it gets too hot in here to risk running the big desktop. We actually cooled down for a little while last night when the edge of the big storm literally blew through.

Unkadan~ are you out there? Did you get your power back yet?

Tomski~ GOD BLESS YOU! honoring the men (and women) that gave (and give) so much to defend us! We are not rich so we pick our charities that we donate on a regular basis to very carefully and St. Jude's hospital and the DAV is on the top of that list, I insist on it. Yes, I am a HUGE flag waver every day of the year, and proud of it

Ok, suggestions anyone? I have literally drug that cranky hen off her nest and carried her out into the yard to the water and feed (letting them stay in the "play yard" in this heat) 3 days in a row now but I have to wait til everyone else has laid first so I can close the pop hole otherwise, like someone else said, it's like she's on a bungy cord, zinnngggg, right back on the nest! Even tho it is so much nicer in the shade on the grass. If the pop hole is closed, she's fine, she hears me open the door, I practically get run over! Anyone have any success with another way to break their brood?

Stay cool and SAFE in this heat everyone (and critters). One more day and then it's supposed to slowly get better

Good morning all! I got up early today...gotta hit the store for some last minute stuff for cooking to day and tomorrow. Actually I have the baked beans all mixed so I can pop them into the oven right away when I get there. I am doing brats, beans and chips. Very berry cake for desert. A nice easy "picnic" meal for once!

That is a tough one with the coons Twizz! I dont know that I could do it...you are too right though about them growing up and not only eating your chickens but making MORE coons to eat them too! One time I found a nest of them in my barn and thank God my neighbor cam over with his gun--this was before I had one--and he got the Mom and all 6 babies. I havent had a whole bunch of trouble since I havent had hay stored in the mow but now I do....we will see what happens this year.
Hey I was going to mention that I got my order from Premier 1 (the same place Bigz and I got those nice waterers) and they have electrified netting that is designed to keep critters OUT. They mention bears, raccoons and dogs. Just thought maybe you guys that have lots of trouble with those might look into it. They even have a garden version.

Well, my time on here is up...DD20 was gone for the night so I get to do ALL the chores before work...nice of her dont you think?
