Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!.... WHOOT ! WHOOT!! It cooled off! Well, at least enough so I don't wonder if I'll make it back to the house!

DrH....So glad Bob is back to being a pain in your *****! I thought you fixed that door weeks ago!

TO... Congrats on the canning!... get anything else yet?

Bf4m.... Know just how you feel about "THEM" getting all that rain! D@mn rain hogs! Then they brag about all the good garden stuff they're gettin' too.... just to rub it in!

<---(me in this weather.... with NO RAIN!) Sounds like some good egg trades!

BigZ...Now that I got that little valve thing figured out

That waterer is nice! Still have to do 2 trips to fill it... but not bad as I don't have to do it as often. After cleaning I fill it 1/2 full, bring it to the coop then take a bucket out to fill it. Someday I want to get another one to replace the metal one outside.

Amy... Congrats on the eggs! You too H&R!!!

WCc... Sounds like you had quite a time with those people ... I feel for the horses too! Bet they were none too happy about it! I used to help my uncle break and train, nothing fancy, just basics. My cousin liked the ring work and showing but was afraid of a green broke! I was 2 years younger and 6' shorter but I passed horses up to her

However I haven't rode in 30 years either so I can sympathizes.

BL4....That sucks so bad it blows! Sure hope you can get it worked out! Love the idea of plastic birds all over and duck calls! hehehe

Well, when I closed up the coop I grabbed all the waterers and cleaned them, filled them and put them back about 1am. I they were finally getting a good nights sleep because no one woke up when I put them back!
I'm still smelling skunk outside... they better not get near my coop!

Because of the heat it's not as secure as I would like.

My family (on both sides) as far back as I could tell is German with about 1/8th Polish. My first husband was German/ Hungarian. DH is German.... How did that happen in this day and age! LOL There is a town in North Germany along the Rhine named Trier after one of my ancestors! Not sure what areas the other German relatives came from but they all came in the early 1900's as far as I know.

Well, guess you can tell I'm felling better. LOL..... Night All!

Bl4... That just stinks. Neighbors suck sometimes. We have more chic than we told the neighbors we were getting, but so far everyone is ok with them.

Cindy...I have been to Trier...neat place. It was a roman town in Germany. Close to where my family is from...berg els is near there and we found lots of my relatives names in the castle memorabilia! I am 3/4 German myself ( rest is bohemian)

Well busy next few weeks with family coming in from out of town and planning for a visit to Disney!

Cool! I've met maybe 4 people who have been there! I started to collect wine from there but with 4 kids that became curious teens...
hmm.png
I would love to go there sometime!

Morning BL4,
sounds like not a good one. Going to the town board idea sounds like the right, and maybe only, move. If in fact, they did change the ordinance after you obtained your copy, that doesn't mean much. "Ignorance" of the law does not excuse you from the consequences of non-compliance (can you tell I used to tutor Business Law? sorry). However, that being said, if you could find your original copy and neighbors who will vouch for you and declare they have no problem with your ducks, you do stand a reasonable chance of obtaining a variance (as long as whom ever filed the initial complaint isn't closely connected to too many board members or is a higher tax bracket local business owner). After all, we are dealing with a civil forfeiture ordinance here, not a criminal violation. What is the current fine/forfeiture for non-compliance? You should be able to at least obtain a time extension for moving the ducks if you go talk to them. Your only real long term option may be to draft and circulate a petition to get the ordinance modified. There really is power in numbers when it comes to small town politics. Good luck.

Up early to read and prepare for Church. Man is there a lot of drama happening this weekend on here, I am glad to not be the only one complaining about my life. I just wish everyone would have a great day relaxing.

Yesterday was a busy day starting at 7am. Ran to the dump with a load of flood damage, hopefully it is the last trip, then home to pick up my wife and other kid so we could try and sell some birds at the swap. Visited the swap but nothing doing no one was buying. Then came home and went to Sam's club for samples, Home Depot for wire and breakers, Kohl's to swap some pants out, the park to play and nap then home to relax the rest of the afternoon away. Then at 7pm I went to watch the fights at Buffalo Wild Wings and enjoyed my time there but thinking about buying the next fight at home with a couple of friends to save some money. $25 for food/beverages to watch the fight by myself, there could be better arrangements.

Got our check from the insurance company today. Looks like it went through without a hitch. I need to find another couple copies of books online to replace what I lost, but the antique books will be especially hard to replace.

The chickens are doing well, I need to set things up to get some of them outside tonight. My freedom rangers are not so free because of being so busy. My yard needs to be mowed and there is always more work to do.

Going to Meynards after church and meetings are done to get the supplies to build a storage shelf and wall in the basement this week with my pops. 42 1x4x8' Lots of pine to move before church tonight and I have to take my son for a fun trip someplace as well.

Potluck Day at Church! Wish you could make it we are grilling up some burgers!

KEN

PS A Friend brought me some Corn Mash Whiskey this week as well may have to try that tonight while I am burning stuff and relaxing before bed.

Morning all!
Just a quick catch up before I get going!
Talked to a neighbor yesterday who I don't see often. She asked about the orchard and such. In our talk my rabbits came up and the chickens too. I hope I don't have problems now. She is a daughter of the man who owns the dairy, so I hope not... Time will tell. They have banties abut I told her that if she wants eggs to flag me down and I'd be happy to give her some...

BL4-That sucks about your ducks! I vote to stick them in the basement and talk to the town. Hopefully they will be willing to at least hear you out. Good luck in getting to keep your ducks. Any chance you can claim that you raise them for 4-H? That your kids or relatives kids show them at poultry shows? That might sway the town if they think that they are for your kids poultry projects..

BigFam-Ok that "update" post for CS was hilarious!!!

Well, best be off, chores to do and such!
Later

Good Cool Morning All! Windows are open!

WOW Bl4 that really sucks! Stupid neighbors. What the H are the ducks doing thats hurting them? Big drama for you to Carol.

Ken sounds like your burning it at both ends. Bf4me us oldies have earned the right to stink! Doesn't bother us. Much. Going to try doing the Craigs list thing today, wish me luck. Making meatloaf on the grill today never tried it before sounds good to me. Going to ply Donny with his favorite peanut butter cookies shortly and tell him Sparky goes with them.

I notified my lawyer friend who is more than happy to do battle with our worthless City Attorney.

I can get my neighbors to provide statements in writing that the ducks do not bother them, the one neighbor is a prominent community member so that might help. I hate harassing people with petitions though.... perhaps I could get them to give me a variance. The next town council meeting is not until the 23rd so I have a little bit. There is no fine listed on the ordinance I was given and I was not told what the fine would be. I am also thinking I can provide them with information on what Call Ducks are and how they serve no other purpose than to look pretty...

I have alternatives on where I can keep them while I duke it out with Town Hall, but I also have been handed the opportunity to get rid of all of them. I love my ducks but Maggie was my favorite.... with her gone it would be so much easier to not have them at all.

Those of you who wanted babies, I can make a road trip South on Tuesday and meet wherever.

Time for coffee!

I think I am caught up! I was reading last night and was dropping into sleep while doing it...went to bed and slept so well---aahhh--it was coolish at last! SO I then got up early to go outside and get chores started. YES! It was so nice to not literally be dripping with sweat doing chores! I needed to get out early cause MLH's DH was coming for chicks this morning! My chicks are going to be famous! HE is doing a photo shoot in MN about how to set up for new chicks and the original ones they ordered fell through or something...they called him and said GET US SOME CHICKS. SO being the good guy he is, he took some of mine to use.
So--MLH if you talk to him tell him that I want to see what they came up with! I forgot to mention it to him this morning...I think he was slightly overwhelmed seeing all my birds running around and getting the mess and the stink on his work clothes! (I guess the Smilies arent working today...) I am laughing!
I loved you encapsulated version Bigfam! Somehow I missed the posting of the recipe for the rolls...not that I could eat them but I love recipes...and the feel of a good dough... :(

So I think I got some kind of heat frustration at the fair while setting up on Friday...I slept like I was dead Friday night and woke at 9AM--course I was out until 1:30...saw some friends I hadnt seen in a very long time...that could have been part of the problem; but I felt not good at the judging yesterday...didnt help that I thought it started at 11. I would like to see a pic of my face when I walked in and realized I was LATE!!! My daughters and I and later DH too got everyithing under control though...we still have some to hang up yet. Maybe this afternoon. We have until tuesday night but I have to get my chickens ready yet. They go in on Tuesday too (I better check that!!
I will give a full report of ribbons after I take a look at the exhibit today.

Guess what? The incubator gave me an early chick last night! One of my Cuckoo Marans has hatched. She is very tired and lonely in the chick TV right now...I am headed down to see if there are any more today. THe actual hatch time is this evening. I had one more pip last night when I took all the eggs out of the turner and added water! It is hard to have the bator downstairs...I dont look at it very much!
OK going down now to take a look and bring Tommy up for his bath. I have to do war on the mites too...the show birds that are in the barn seem to have a few. GGRRRR!
Man I sure feel better with this cooler weather!
Have a relaxing and/or productive Sunday! Terri O
