Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Another Awful Nice Dang Day Here On the Hill.... My son just left with a couple bushels of maters, and dropped off a case of jars for our salsa....no way i want to extend the growing season here! By the time we are done with the harvest here...enough is enough LOL! We started with the sparegus in June and haven't had much time off...time for hunting here shortly.....

Just started the grill.....we canned 8pts of relish today, and suzie froze 14 qts of maters with peppers, celerly, and onions for future meals this winter. Great addition to the bean and ham soup, with home grown beans of course.

Grandson killing me to take him fishin...another reason the garden harvest has run it's course. Time for some quality time afield....I will be bear hunting this fall too.....

I never took a handout and don't expect one...I don't blame others for my inability to succeed...ever.

Have Fun...Life is Short... bigz

We all are passionate about different things.

So jealous of everyone's tomato harvests... Still waiting on mine to ripen but know I won't have enough for more than a couple of batches to can. Went up to the Amish farm stand last week and ordered a bushel of canners to make sure I've got enough! Froze 7 quart bags of sweet corn so far. All the talk here about pickles got me interested in trying my hand at those too. Picked up 10# of cukes from the Amish and made up several quarts. Can't wait to try them out!

hi all, had a very productive and fun weekend.. with more than a little help from Adam, my tractor is now in a million pieces on the garage floor.. Kim even got in on the act quite a bit.. and she picked enough blackberries for two batches of jelly.. I made pancakes on Sat morning,, and on Sunday AM Kim made some great Omelets..

I just located an engine rebuild kit and a clutch plate.. Tomorrow I will get a special credit/debit card and order the parts..

In the meantime I have a few parts to clean up.. If I have time, I might just paint the sheet metal..

have to get the valve seats ground..

We have a batch of guinea keets hatching.. this is a funny note.. on a chicken site, keet and poult are both underlined as unknown/spelled wrong words..

but right now I am due for a long over due shower and general clean up..

OK,,,,,,,,, then a short Miller time and then early to bed..

Crapola. I need the expert advice. I have these fancy Wheaten Marans from Bev Davis. I have Slim pickings on the proper rooster for breeding. Well Ox has decided to go After the kids. I would normally say "off with his head" but for breeding purposes, he's my best choice. When I see him go after the kids, what do I do? He doesn't go after me. In fact, he does move away rather quickly when I tried to get him today. But apparently he went after (and caught) the 6 yr old yesterday. He went after the the 10 and 8 yr old today. OOOOHHHH Chicken Knowledge Fairy... What do I do???

Is that the Amish stand just North of Athens? That is where I bought some pectin for making jelly that you do not have to use any sugar..

Jiminagoodmood... I can't get rid of the kids! Unless you're offering to adopt them? ;)

Also... I want to buy my hubby a general all purpose gun. I know NOTHING about guns. He needs to to shoot trapped coons, or woodchucks. He doesn't hunt. It's just for basic use around the farm area. What do I get? A 22 shotgun?

Well Good evening everyone... were home from a wonderful visit with Jim and Annie....... what an absolutely wonderful time we had, They were both very gracious hosts, and Annie is an amazing cook...........and grand hostess. Seriously just amazing people to know.
We felt just like we were checked into a luxury hotel, complete with service, made the work of tearing down the tractor a piece a cake. and it's tore down all right, I don't think there is much those boys left in 1 piece.............LOL
Plus I got chicken/geese/turkey Tv all day long and I didn't even have to do the work.....!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus Dora and puppies were great company, and wonderful entertainment.
Until I got home that is, son was suppose to take care of our critters, well lets just say I spent the last half hour B ....itching that my chickens have empty crops and the 5 gallons of feed I mixed late Friday is still almost full, because my son thinks chickens can eat dust at the bottom of the bowl for 2 1/2 days, 3 of my big Water's were bone dry, and the quart size were either dirty or almost empty as well........ GRRRRRRRR I could kick his behind all the way to China right now.
Worst part is in 2 weeks we get another visit with Jim and Annie to put it all back together, but my son is the only one who is here to care for my critters..... that won't ask for a fortune to do it. ... argggggg I could almost cry, except I'm still too mad. Maybe someone can post a plan to make a feeder that holds enough food for a weekend, for 23 chickens......... then another that will feed the 29 babies as well..............
anyway Just wanted to share my little vacation and let ya guys know the tractor is apart and well on its way to being fixed, when the parts are in , and we go back up.

Take care everyone................... Nighty night..... Kim
