And why the Heck have you not taken a road trip up here all summer?!

Oh yeah. Spoken by the woman who hatched out HOW many chicks and I have yet to see most of them. I didn't even get to see what chicks you brought home from the bash. What do Icies look like anyhow, hmmmm...........missy??????

We haven't taken squat for road trips this year.

The last one we went on was to the Mississippi river & it was so freakin hot, we turned back with an hour left to go.

We haven't taken a ride up north yet either, and now summer is almost over.

It just hasn't been a good bike riding year for us.

Why the heck haven't you taken a road trip here?????

Cindlady, am I assuming correctly you dh had a procto ???? I was just at my docs and he told me well basically yelled at me that I am over due for another one and also I need to get a bone density test like Yesterday !!! Hope whatever he had done it turns up good....

AND btw what's this about hiking with or without the leg ?????? Where we going ???? Maybe I'll wear the leg but bring my crutches with and throw the sucker in a deep deep river someplace..... It's driving me nuts these days.... long over due for a new one. Not to mention I took my allen wrench to it and was trying to turn the knee and foot to get a better alignment and screwed it up. Now depending on how I put it on I walk in circles !!!!! LOL

Ok back to reading and playing freecell on the computer. Oh and watching CL..... I have this big desire to find a spotted standard donkey. There is one in MI but it is over 300 miles away.....

Then there is a mammoth donkey only 175 miles away....... hmmm decisions decisions....... DH said he rather have the mammoth if it rides..... unfortunately it isn't broke to ride...... did I ever tell ya that I love my asses ????

Casie... I love my waterer too! It's a little big for me to handle to fill (5 gal) but I just fill it 1/2 way, put it back in the coop and fill it the rest of the way with a bucket. I keep a bottle of ACV down in the coop to add to all the waterers. BTW.... dose anyone else have that blue "cap" thing on the inside come off all the time? 3/4 of the time mines floating!

The Guinea hen still seems to have 5 keets but I heard her squawking after I saw her. I'm going to try to get over to the neighbors and see if the other 2 missing hens are over there. They were fallowing mom and the keets around just before they disappeared.

Well, got to finish dishes and make food for the hummingbirds... Night all!

Morning Frenchie! don't know if the cider is out yet. What I do is buy an extra couple jugs when it's on sale in the fall and store (aka hide) it for next year. If you buy Mussleman's, it's always fresh (aka new batch) and thus has a shelf life of a couple years. Just checked and the stuff I have in my pantry closet (converted closet in middle bedroom) is still good til next spring. I would love to use the super fresh stuff but up here we usually have apples before the cider hits the stores.

As for the using cider idea, I was looking for an alternative to sugar a couple years ago and just thought "If grape juice works for wild plum butter, what about apple cider for apple stuff?" WOW, guess the old gears do still work once in a while

Nice to see Cody is doing well. Are you still trying to adopt him?

Hope everyone is going to enjoy their air conditioning the rest of the week and remember us suffering folks!

Going to try to clean out the coop EARLY this morning and put the final paint job on the inside. Thought it would be cooler for this at the end of August! I also still have tomatoes everywhere I have to get turned into something and canned. One more batch of chili starter then I think it's sauce with the rest.

What's your favorite recipe for marinara? looking for a good one, so please share

. Had to make the chick a "mine" box for it's food and water because Crockpot, of course, kept eating all it's food after I took the cage out. Hope it figured out to go in last night. Check this morning.

My rooster crowed for the first time this morning. He's about a year old. Where we got him there were a bunch of roosters, so he never crowed. Don't think he's been covering my hens either

Good Morning Everybody! Woke up tired. Been a whole week of jumpin through my behind at a high rate of speed. Laura's surgery went great! Bf4me she has to talk to the doc today to get the full low down but it was all on her stomach muscles. 2 hernia's and some scar tissue.

to all who are new! And WELCOME! Bigz she doesn't have a recipe but will ask her when she's a little more coherent. Got all 10 birds bagged and in the freezer yesterday and have 2 stock pots going right now with the necks and backs for broth and meat for soup. Would hate to be the garbage man on fri after all the chicken scraps sit in the heat the next couple of days. Don't remember who posted the hen on the kittens pic but that was sooo dang cute and funny! Jim sounds as if Dora took off for a night of cattin around and you lost one of the pups on the road? Sorry to hear that! And your making progress on the the Oliver.

FT sorry to hear your aunt isn't doing well!

I'm to the point of losing Bob that the worst is when I put the kids to bed and I walk in the house and lock the back door. He always went out just before I went to bed.

Cind didn't catch what is going on with the DH but it doesn't sound good. Hope everything is OK!

CC if I had any energy left I'd give it to you. Really need to recharge soon.

I just joined and am new to chickens. Have 2 Barred Rocks (rooster and hen) and 2 Black Australorps. Just purchased two Citron Spangled Hamburgs and three Swedish Flower Hens. Both new groups have a rooster. Looking forward to some great eggs and new chicks.

Sounds like ya got lots of roosters.... with them hens do you house everyone separately? I have too many roosters too, soon though they will hit the stew pot and I will be back down to my 3 or 4...... depends who I'm keeping for breeding next season. Well have fun here and don't be afraid to join in, at least on this thread everyone is is awsum........... Kim
