Wcc those are the coolest looking guineas I've ever seen! TO are you sure it wasn't more like 11 AM still in your night gown?

That had to be funny though. Feels like it's going to warm today. Jim you know that gauge is going to glare at you everytime. Oh BL4 crawdad boil!
droolin.gif
Yup Bigz nothin but the best! Did a taste test and had to make myself put the spoon down. Yummie! GR65 thasa lot of maters and I totally agree skins have to be off, they do get bitter. Have been freezing and peeling them like Dan said since the first time I ever grew maters. Bear those are some really neat looking birds too bad about the hen not making it. Can't wait to see the vid. Well I decided it's going to be a slower day today. Figure I've been putting in 10-14 hours a day for a week and a half. Too much for the old and lazy.

I figure there's enough maters for 2-3 qts of marinara that leaves 7-8 empty jars. And we all know that's just wrong. So I quess some more of the cukes won't go to waste. Vic like I mentioned before Laura doesn't have a reecipe for marinara. She just cores the big ones throws in the roma's adds onions and grn pepper and cooks it all down. That way it can be used for anything. Salsa, spaget sauce, pizza sauce or anything tom based just add what ever spices are needed. Best get outside before it gets hot.

Just wanted to let you know that it took from Wed. until Fri. AM for the Citron Spangled Hamburgs to arrive and the female had died. Guess it was too hot or maybe not enough food. The male made it ok. The Swedish Flower hens were also shipped Wed. and it took until Sat. AM for them to arrive. Talk about thursty birds. They are doing fine and I made a video of them which I will post. It is not exactly movie of the year, but you can see the birds anyhow.

Pat
sorry to hear about the girl not making the trip

CORRECTION:just checked this out and the place is called "Our Fly Babies" Backyard chickens in Bancroft, WI. Sounds like a great hatchery. Anyone here ordered from them?

Thankyou Dr. Haha about the marinara. Maters, onions, peppers, gotcha'!

Good morning to you! Slept in until 8:30 and just got caught up now...weird to not be going to work on a Monday for sure!
Jim the reason you take the skins off is because of the bacteria on and just under the skin of many tomatoes...of course you only "need" to do this if canning the resulting sauces etc. The toxins can anaerobically grow in a sealed jar and put you off life for sure! I do the extra step...speaking of: DH just said "we" have to get going on making salsa and sauce....now THAT made me chuckle for sure! I know that the we in that sentence is definitely a "you" in real life...not sure if I will or not...just feeling that way still...now IF I had help it might be a different story--then it would be fun! Yes HM is much better...but the stuff I have been buying at the Pig is a BUCK a jar! That RedGold brand...very good, especially with added cilantro and a chopped tomato! Dont think I can even make it for that...

Got some replies on the roo. The consensus seems to be a bug bite. I am going to listen to his lungs today and if they are clear switch him from Tylan to PennG and benadryl for the swelling. Time will tell I guess.

Good that your horse remembered how to pull! Maybe it is like riding a bike? LOL! I would love to have a driving horse. Actually I would love to just have a horse that wasnt lame! Today I think I might try the bruised plantain leaves applied under a bandage to see if I can draw out some of the infection. Maybe mis them with a little teatree oil? What say you herbal plant remedy woman?

Great advice on the cat CC! I can tell you have had much experience! I too have had several cats that have blocked. The weird thing is that I have fed Science Diet since day one(for the first 20 years of cat ownership anyhow)...supposed to be good stuff. Then when it went mainstream I guess the formulas changed and it wasnt so good? Anyhow I had cats that blocked on it, did the whole sexchange operation when it was still new; he/she had a few more great years after that and then had a few more that did the same thing...sheesh! Now I am feeding a food called VF that I get from the mill. Havent had any (knock on wood) incidences lately....
DD just came down and said "no more cats in my room!" I guess last night they knocked her lizard's habitat down off the shelf. SHe thinks he is OK...I hope so. That thing is HEAVY!

Well I guess that is all that is new here...not too exciting. I like the looks of those Vulturine Guineas too...I bet I would REALLY cry if an owl got one of those! They are very tropical looking. That guy is in Neshkoro...I wonder if he has a heated coop?

Talk later...enjoy your Holiday! TerriOofftofindsomebreakfast

Nothing much happening here. It's hot. I'm tired from making Halden go to sleep in the camper. The sh!t was still up dinking around at 12:15 am. Momma is a wee bit sleepy....

My coop could really use a sprucing up. I NEED to empty the poop boards in the worst way. I need to freshen the pdz, the chips, add Sevin (which I have to buy). I also need to figure out how to turn the mini coop into a tractor. It's so heavy but flimsy at the same time. Moving it sucks! Silkies need fresh grass. I also need to build a little pen to put next to the coop so they can get out and walk a bit more. They all want to come out and roam, but they really can't see well! And since the hoodlum (guinea) went after the one and picked at it so bad, I can't really let them out. The guineas (hoodlums) are really taking over and claiming EVERYTHING as their territory. I've got wooded hill right behind the coop. Do they go there? Nope. The hang out in my backyard, my front yard, my side yad, and make a ruckus. Jeepers... Go fly into a tree someplace! Brats... They sure do like treats though...

Ok... I'm going to try and feed Halden and put him down for an early nap. If I'm tired, he MUST be!

Vicki, I was on a waiting list with Our fly babies for over 4 months to get SFH chicks this spring. Never did get them. There was always one excuse or another. I had gotten other chicks from them the year before with no problems. There was someone on the SFH thread that just tried ordering from them last week and was told that they weren't laying or something now too. I ended up getting hatching eggs on ebay.

I will have eggs and chicks next spring though! I've got 6, one month old chicks right now, though one has severely curled toes.

CASIED ~ ooooh, such pretty babies!!! Will you be selling any eggs/chicks in the spring? If so, PLEASE put me on your list! My blacks have "forever" homes but I love to start a flock of SFH's.

I am also trying to locate a source for Hedemora chickens. any ideas anyone?
