And I can't imagine hauling all the stuff and the kids on a plane.

Jim can't imagine a speedo on a tractor but good job on the fix! Sounds like everyone is nearly done with their gardens and canning. Been thinking about finding or making some good soil for an indoor lettuce box this winter. Don't know if it will do any good but I gotta try. I really miss fresh salads in the winter. So many things I wanted to comment on but once again it's gone. Sorry! Had a great day in the woods everything ran great! Too windy and it looks like it could rain any minute today. So will get the boat stuff put away and move the boat out of the garage and bring in the splitter and check it over. I bought a knee brace and it worked great, no pain at all. But the worst is when I'm splitting. Heavy load with twisting and turning. We'll see. OK I'm going to type this out loud and will probably pay for it but I got 7 eggs yesterday! It's a new record.

goodun cold rainy crappy day in the nort'woods

going to borrow the loader and get my chit together,,,,got 4 loads of horse manure delivered last week all spread out, I'll get it piled with some leaves added to start the composting process for next year

I still haven't test run the spreader I got a month ago,,,need to get that project done so I can spread the finished compost on a few areas this fall,,,like soon so I can get something planted in those same areas,,,,rye, oats,,,whatever just to have the soil covered. The Tillage radishes I did plant are up and on the second leaf if we get some sunny days along with the fall rains I have hopes they work as described

Indoor work this afternoon, either canning or more to do in the big coop

I'm getting tired just typing this list,,,,,,,but still thinking about hauling all that stuff and the kids on a airplane might be what is wearing me out,,,good luck with that project. If we hear anything about airport security in CA we'll know what happened

good AM, been up since 6..cuppa is cold. I am going to do SOMETHING today.. IDK what..
I dread going outside.. my winter blood hasn't kicked in yet..

DrH, the speedo cable runs the tachometer and hour meter.. there is even a PTO rpm indicator. I don't understand how it sorts it all out, though.. I don't have to know, as long as it works, eh?

I have been studying the schematics quite a bit.. It looks like Adam has everything hooked up correctly.. I am going to rip that extra wire out, I think.. don't need it.. I might try to add a terminal of some sort for lights hook-up ..

I showed the pics to Ron at Motors Service.. He noticed the paint scheme.. asked if I was going to paint everything green. I told him , HeII no, Oliver Co didn't help me with the overhaul, so I am doing it "my way"....

we are going to isolate a bunch of roosters and start them on broiler rations for a few weeks..time to thin the flock.. going to go heavy on the natural grains .. I think we will get better flavored meat..

well I have procrastinated long enough, will go have a little breakfast and then out into the cold hard cruel world I go..

BF4M...hope your chicken starts to get better. Not sure what the red thing is... hot spot?

Anyone use valbazen for working? With doing alot of research on here, sounds like it is an all around wormer that gets all kinds of them if there is a mahor issue. Could not find the other one that Terri had mentioned at F&F. My only heartbreak is that I will lose eggs for a few weeks with this and have to mooch some from Carol. Since it sounds like i can put the meds on bread and give it to only certain birds, I might do all my non laying pullets first and the silkies and blue egg layers. can really pull them out from the others.

My new rooster boy is only about three months old and is not bold enough to stand up to most girls yet.. so he hides alot. But once you get him out of the coop where he hides, he is sweet. Was feeding him mealworms ( found some at Walmart finaly) and he snuggled in for a good snack. He is a porcelein D'uccle named Pirate ( sorry heather... kids liked the name... at least this one is a boy) he spends time with his other d'uccle friends Poppet and Trooper. 6 year olds have named almost all the birds now. Makes life interesting. Will have to see about the 4 new chicks we hatched from broody momma! They are awefully cute and tiny. Hope they can take these chilly nights!

Morning everyone,
Brrrrrrrr...Not likeing this cool weather wind is blowing 25 and it was 31 degree's here this morning, I love fall colors just wish they came with a bit warmer weather, like at least 60..........geeeeeeessshhhh
I still have lots of garden stuff to do, and we did have some frost on the car and truck this morning, but garden looks like its ok still, must be the extra weeds I have that protected the plants, except maybe my Beans ain't looking so hot. I really have to quit doing stuff for all my friends and get my stuff done.........
(NOT You Jim) that is Adams project not mine, but it's been a heck of week already Adam went to Dr. yesterday for that spider bite, it was so swollen and nasty looking he stayed home from school, and he never misses work or school, so I know it was killing him. They tried to get us to do tests, xrays, IV antibiotics......... I hate Dr.s they love their money too much, that bill woulda been 5 grand, and we have no insurance, I siad just give the GD antibiotic already I know exactly what it is I had one just like it last year on my wrist. Apparently spiders don't agree with us, and we get a nasty infection every time we get a good bite.
Then we been fighting to get to to were we need to go with 1 vehicle and 2 different places we have to be, the bike is out cuz of Adams finger and the cold, and our car is still broke. Now today Adam took the truck to school, and I'm hitching a ride to Town to watch the shop for Jodi, with my Grandson, because his Mom is having her other hand surgery, and my Neighbor is gonna drive us home, after she closes the shop 2 hours later than I close Jodi's........ but it will work. Have no idea what tomorrow will bring for challenges, But seems my yucky luck is holding out well, sure wish it would get tired soon, cuz I'm tired of it.!!!!!!!!!!!
The boys are doing well on just there Puppy kibble, no more canned for them, had a small accident in the house this morning, but Max knows what No means and quit peeing asap, then finished up outside. They are back in there kennel playing with the tore up mat........LOL silly puppies. Bear has taken to nibbling my arm upon entry to the pen, so excited he can't help himself, wags that tail so hard he almost knocks me over with it. hehe
Chickies are hiding out in the coop today not liking that crazy wind much..........
I got my first Pullet egg from one of my 19 week old EE's, a pretty blue one.......... small though never had any pullet eggs so small as this one, but she is too young, EE's don't usually start laying till 22 to 24 weeks.......... I sure wasn't expecting one from an EE maybe my BO, or Del, BR's maybe, but not the Easter eggers
Now My naughty little rooster Rambo knows how to go over the top of the horse stall to get to the babies. My poor little Delaware pullet I got from Jim, is scared of him and runs and flies right up on me every time I have to take him out of there. Little bugger...........
I canned 9 Pints of cream corn yesterday, and froze 4 more qts of it too, its delishhhhhh

So anyway that's all from me today, hope everyone enjoys there dreary cold fall day................ later all. Kim

Cleaned and swept the chimney out last night and started a fire! Old farm houses sure do breath well! I don't want to start the furnace yet, but friendly reminder to everyone, turn your furnace on now just to make sure it runs before it gets too cold and you need it! and Change the filters regularly!

BF4U: Someone mentioned it looked like it was on his crop (I wasnt able to figure that out fromt he pic)? I go back to my original statement-it looks like a burn? Have you fed them any "warm/hot" treats lately? That reminds me of when I used to hand fed parrots-and if hand feeding formula was too hot...they would get crop burns that resemble that..only these were smaller as they were on babies the size of a frog.

Ang... I highly highly doubt it's a burn of any kind. It is actually lower than the crop, on the left side. It tucks into his feathers and can't been seen until he's picked up. I guess that explains why I haven't seen it when he's out and about. I injected him with penicillin this morning. I will get him 2 more doses before we leave for California at 5 am Sat. I think I should pick up some blue cote and hit it tonight so the others don't pick at it. I gotta go do stuff, and I'm feeling poorly and don't wanna!

Morning all!
Busy day so far! Buddy-Dog is at the vet getting his leg cast for his boot. DH is calling him the Bionic Dog and I call him 2 of 8 in a Borg like tone....
Talked to BigFam about her roo and helped DH with a report. The meatie birds are out in the coop in their new digs and are happy got the extra space. The Girls are happy for the change to torment them through their cage. The Girls just glare at them...
I went and got some more straw for bedding in the coop and today I will put that down at one point.

BL4-Glad you liked the talk DH gave. He was sorry none of your detractors came to get educated. Some people just want to argue from an uneducated stand point I guess. I still wish you luck in your battle to get chickens legalized.

Judge-I meant to comment on you possible prolapse the other day. Jim and H&R are 100% correct. I also will add to their comments and say that with prolapses, you need to treat them quickly because not only will the tissues start to get necrotic, the chance of internal infection is very high. Also,my guess is more then likely she will prolapse again and at that point there will not be much you can do.

BigFam-Have a safe trip!!
Vicki-I would be all gleeful about the S---W you got but apparently, S--w is a bad word ....LOL!! So I will just do a happy dance on the inside.....
