Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I think this is the kind of thing that people call the owners of " out of touch"

If you can afford the hen house, you can afford hiring someone else to keep it clean.

and write the whole thing off as a loss on your organic poultry business taxes.

cheers

I'm totally getting that hen house for christmas...

who you calling sucker CC...

Hows Stella girl?
Sucker!!!!!
gig.gif

Stella is doing just fine. She prefers the company of the smaller roos as of yet, although one of the lavs has been getting rather fresh with her.
roll.png
She doesn't take any crap from any of my bully hens either, which I am glad to see. She has laid quite a few eggs already too.

Hmmm....... I tried posting a pic of her, but no dice.

Hi all!

Bl4.... I was just wondering about the tank because it sounded like a nice mix, but allot of fish! When we had the pet store my oldest son took care of the fish. We had 2- 55's,
4- 40's, I think 10-20's, 10 -10's and a few 5's going. We didn't get into salt water fish but had one of the 40's set up to hold special orders. Sure am glad my son took care of all them!

DrH... glad you got the splitter going! You can come down anytime with it and split all that's laying around here!
wink.png
I'll get pics of the kittens as soon as mom goes out, DH is not sleeping (they're in his closet) and someone is around and up to help hold them! Eyes are open and they are starting to move around more!

Judge.... can you put the bedding on some small tarps? Then pull the tarps out to clean it.

Tomski... HI!

Angi.... It's hard seeing friends loose their jobs.

OMG what a coop and set up! Yup, sure are allot of roos and those few hens laid all those eggs? LOL and chicks there too! What a SHOW!!!!
lau.gif

Finally got the coop for the turkeys cleaned out! Now just got to figure out a pop door for them. The old door was under a double set of windows and the roos barely made it through there. I can cut one to the right of the windows, but that means going into the coop to open it. Not too bad for now but I don't want to drag snow into the coop in winter. I'm thinking maybe a sliding door on a couple of pulleys. What do you think? I'll have to move the roosts too.

Ok, finish stuff up and BED!
Night All!

Good Morning All! Angie glad you made the cut. Holy crap 300? Dan hold your breath I'll be there any minute.

I actually would help ya if you were in my neighborhood. I'd much rather help do someone elses work than my own. Think Bigz has the right idea about winterizing that coop. Remembered it as soon as I saw it. CC the look in Stella's eye tells me she ain't gettin pushed around. What a look! Cind if the splitter had suspension I'd drag it down and make a day of it. If I take it anywhere I have to let some air out of the tires. How about putting a cable on the top of the door and drilling a hole in the wall to the outside? Had to do that with the walk in door after being trapped in the coop and had to call Laura in the house to come let me out.
lau.gif
Good thing I had my cell with me otherwise the roost would have gotten pretty crowded. Your gettin me cited to see the boy! Thinking maybe I'll bring in some of the wood the we split just to fill the shed and add to what we use until the snow gets too deep. Should get the new recoil clutch today and put that back together. Didn't get the shed cleaned out so that's on the list today. Added an on/off switch to the wood furnace instead so I can shut the combustion blower off to add wood without having to walk alllll the way back to the thermostat. Not that I don't need to burn the calories but it's just irritatin! Tomski glad your up and runnin again. Now you have no excuse! Just watched a rerun of South Park last night where the internet was gone. Fun Kneeee! Cind pasteurized.
gig.gif
Had eggs yesterday and put some hot sauce on them forgot how good that is. Going over to Donny's today to get instructions on how to correctly feed and water his cows and chickens.
roll.png
Surgery is on the 17th and he'll be in there for a few days plus recoup time at home. He is gonna be fit to be tied to get out. B'fast then onward and outward.

And don't you love that their "hand-picked heritage hens" look like roos?????

LOL apparently they have no idea that every one of them HENSin that picture is a Rooster, and for that price I think I'll order 2 LOL.........ya gotta be kidding me.............stupid is as stupid does..............hehehehehe
That must be made for the heavily endowed wallet people in mind, those that have no idea or no clue about where eggs even come from except from the super market with the chef who cooks them everyday...... Funny is I only seen 1 hen in the entire add, and she must be the supreme BR layer, with all those eggs and chicks, she even lays different colored eggs......... That must be the huge price, she is a special chicken, mad in a lab to lay all different colored eggs, seven at least per day, and each rooster had at it too by the looks of the chicks.............and she isn't missing a feather..... wow super chicken !!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOL........

Well good morning you chatty people... 40 posts since yesterday morning and not a thing from JIm....WTH, Looks like this weekend is gonna be worse than last weekend for butchering, now they are calling for rain all weekend long, and its raining here this AM, but not as cold as yesterday............ frozen fingers yesterday morning filling waters with warm water for the chickies. So are we butchering in the rain and thunderstorms, or are we waiting another week at mother natures mercy? I keep expecting it to get nice again Indian summer ya know, but I ain't seeing it the long range forecast....... So anyway If you still have the 2 Delaware pullets I wanted could ya save them for me Jim, they are the ones with nice black tails and some nice spotty necks, if ya have any left like that I would like 2.

Also looking forward to getting the ones from David home and introduced to my Flock..........Not sure how I'm gonna quarantine them.... gonna have to use the baby broody I think........ Its made for 4 hens, but maybe they can make room for 1 more if Jim has my pullets still, I knew I should have taken the ones I wanted last time I was up there......don't know why I waited, guess I was thinking Jim would keep the really nice ones.......and I didn't quite believe he was actually gonna sell them or butcher them.......... guess he fooled me...... hehehe
Anyway better get going I have more work to do today, I hate fall cleaning it takes 4 ever to wash walls here because I have WAY too much crap on them........ Kim

Did anyone notice that that rediculous MacMansion Coop didn't even have an automatic water system, just the FF metal waterers/feeders??? Geesh. It better come with someone to crawl under there and get those things.

So glad you made the cut Angiebubs, so sorry for your friends.

special huge THANK YOU to CC for the sending me the info on worming

Stella is gorgeous!!! I would like to know too where you got that saddle. Nice design and probably a good thing to have on hand.

Well, we dropped down to 25o outside last night before the temp started going back up and my coop never got colder than 48o,
celebrate.gif
Still have my oil-filled radiator type heater ready to go if (when) it gets too cold but I don't think I am going to need it much, especially with the heated waterer already in there. Also had the light on for the first time and the girls basically ignored it. Went in as usual, hopped up on the roost and didn't flinch when the light turned off.

My crazy big hen that's supposed to be a production hen (black star) is doing her best to go broody
th.gif
I know for sure she has started laying again because I caught her this morning sitting on a fresh egg working on HER nest on the floor under the ramp to the roost
smack.gif
. Have to post a pic of her so you more knowledgeable folks can tell me if she really is a Black Star.

Well, the sun just popped out so time to get to work! Supposed to get REALLY cold up here tonight!

Good morning chicken folk! I am feeling really crappy today...I do believe that I got my DD26s cold!

What a way to start the winter! Now this probably means I wont shake it until January too. I was wondering what was developing when I wok up with a sore throat the other day...
DH is still home crowding my space...WTH? I hope he isnt planning on working at home all day...that would mean I'd have to work around him and cant vacuum because it plugs him up. Maybe I will just go back to bed--yeah right!

I thought the same thing about that hen's expression Doc. There is something about the Doms that is very fierce looking! My Elaine and Carol have that same look! I dont think you will have to worry about any of your hens going broody in the spring...they cam from my stock remember? LOL--I found another one in the loft yesterday with 4 or maybe more new babies! She hasnt brought them out yet...I wonder if she will be the last until February now? Prolific little buggers for sure. Now if they would sit so tight and hatch the eggs I WANT them to hatch I'd be in business!

Sure looks chilly and breezy out my window today. The sky almost has that "sn*w" look to it!
ep.gif
I think I better get the lawn furniture away and my saw and workbench moved inside...what a project!
Took DS23 into town yesterday to turn in a job app at a bistro there. I sure hope he remembers to call and gets an interview. He can be a great worker but doesnt "get" how to sell himself at an interview! I tried the coaching thing with him and all he says is "I know Mom." and rolls his eyes (of course) My neighbor wants him to come over and help with brush cutting too...yeah, I wonder if he would do that? (I'm thinking NOT!) What to do? I wish he'd get his life together...we must have done something right with the last one at least....

Well, guess I better get moving...the IBU must be starting to kick in...man, I hope so...Have a great day everyone! TerriOmovingwithkleenexinherpockettoday
