Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning again, Just back from Jims house. Told him, never have been there when it is dry out. Wierd. I brought my chickens over for Kim. Jim gave me the best compliment in telling me they all looked really good and healthy so obviously I did something right.
Saw some chicks that hatched by accident. I was tempted to offer to buy them from him but I luckily I was strong. LOL. We had a nice chat with Jim and his wife. They are both such wonderful people.

Now I better find more insurance companies that don't penalize you for the type of dog you have. I found 3 already. Need to get a qute or two before my insurance guy comes so I can tell him raise my rates, You will be replace with ......... Had the chows for the past 10 years, nobody has been bitten yet. It isn't like they run loose terrorizing the neighborhood.

Have a good day, I might break out the cackle hatchery catalog, just to see what they have since it is raining all Day.

Well good late, rainy morning everyone! Still in my robe and jammies. Slept until 10--well, I got up at 7 to feed dogs and cats then went back to bed. Still not feeling great...I did go to work yesterday and didnt feel too bad. Must have done too much cause I was feeling a bit better. Got the windows washed inside and out on another wall in the living room. Only 1 wall to go in there...then I am heading to the back room to clean out and move dog kennels and bird cages around.. Still trying to make more space in this house but I think I just have TOO MUCH STUFF! Then DH is asking me what I want for some point rewards thing--NOTHING I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF! He doesnt get it I guess.
Today is our 28th anniversary...we were supposed to do something fun but he forgot he had tickets to the hockey game in Green Bay last night so he and the kids went and stayed over. THey arent home yet.

Cind good job on the turkey quarters...too bad they dont use them!

I hate that--you think you are making it good for them and they ignore your efforts! Mine do the same thing--they stay out and roost in the trees instead of going in on the new and improved roosts JUST FOR THEM! well, they are turkeys after all...not know for their good sense!

Did you all see the new imaging stuff on here? I looked at "recent images on this thread" and clicken on "more" and all of the pics from January came up! Very cool! I saw Doc's babies and Hurley's boys and lots of other stuff that brought back fond memories of our chats here. Check it out! There are a ton of pics!

Tommy has gone into a full molt now. His kennel is littered with feathers every morning. He dosent look like he is missing any though...I should make a video of him "playing" with his chicken toy. IT is very funny. DS23 didnt think he could learn to do it "Mom, he's just a dumb chicken!" But I showed him twice and now he knows just how to roll it to get the treats out! I'd like to say my son was impressed...he wasnt. Thanks for good wishes on him and the job Doc--he actually has an interview on Monday.

Congrats on the saw and the buck BigZ! That is so cool. I bet that coleslaw was good. I make one with the broccoli slaw stuff...probably similar. MMMM. I see that Swai fish at our grocery too...guess I dont like fish enough to buy it.
H&R--I sure dont miss those soccer games! I remember going to the first ones in shorts and the last ones in Carharts with snow falling! Cold and damp one today for sure! I hope you brought the hot chocolate!
I am really wondering too what's up with Frenchie? NOt like her to be so quiet for so long...I wonder if something is up with her Auntie? Anybody have her phone number?

We have still not had that killing frost here...my basil is STILL green! Must have a micro climate down by the garden. I had frost on my window the other morning...was weird to have to scrape it off before driving! Wondering too if we will have an Indian Summer...doesnt seem like we will...
I am picking the last of the tomatoes today (if I ever get off my butt) and piling the vines. Still have potatoes to dig too...a bit wet for that today!
I better get dressed and let the birdies out...I imagine the horses might like some hay too...sometimes I wish I could just be sick and not have to do anything!

Afternoon everyone , well a minute past anyway. Does anyone have colombian wyandottes or japanese bantams? I am thinking about getting them and want to know your experience on them. Especially the bantams

thanks

David

I'm speaking from heresay... But heard not such great things about Japanese bantams. Not very friendly, flighty, etc. look up Japanese bantam thread on here, (there has to be one). See if anyone in a northern climate has some and ask them more about the breed.

Apparently the 'Great Chicken Debates' have stirred up a hornet's nest here in this little burg...... I cannot believe the idiocy running this place....

Anyway, I thought I would share a few articles out of our local paper. Now remember, they have no money to be wasting time discussing chickens.....

So we supposedly have this horde of feral cats infiltrating the town wreaking havoc...

And now they want to create a 'new' position of Community Officer. This person would enforce the ordinances!
http://www.waupacanow.com/community...ce-enforcement-----jcpg-296483-173525231.html

Perhaps they could fire one of the 8 police officers to pay for all of this. A city with a population of 1900 has no need of 8 police officers and a Chief if they cannot perform their jobs.

Well, since it is such a yucky rainy day, I think I will make some kind of soup for dinner. I was really wanting French onion, but I could make a veggie beef soup instead. I have a squash baking in the oven right now, croutons will be next!

Cind, I did not mean to sound so witchy with my post concerning the fish.... I appreciate your input! Just chalk it up to me being tired and sometimes things are not written well .......

Try to stay dry everyone!

I miss Waupaca. Lived there for several years. I moved to NY and now have returned to my home town of Racine. Does Wisconsin have chicken shows? Other than fairs and 4H? My kids are all grown and I do not have anyone to show birds in 4H anymore.I think I would still like to participate or volunteer sometimes. I have some special chickens and think they would do wonderful.

delisha! When did you live in Waupaca? I have lived up here for over 30 years so we might know a few of the same folks! There are others on this page who do show, and can get you going where you need to be.

Racine.... hmmmm..... not too far from one of our BIGGEST enablers TO....

Dr. Ha Ha, did you get your brats and burgers made. You are right, so far I have looked at all my old catalogs and have an order list of about 20 different birds. Gotta get that down to 2 breeds. The SLW you incubated has grown up to be a gorgeous lady. She always was a loner due to living with golden comets. Hopefully in her 2 home she won't be such a loner. Back to reading about Japanese bantams.
