Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well I hope you get going on that brooder. I had 28 chicks hatch out from this last clutch. I have started them on the Fermented Feed program and that are growing so fast. Feathering fast too. I was a bit scare since it is so cold out so early but they seem to be doing great.

I have a pipper! There's still 2 days left on those eggs, and 3 days left on the others. So we'll see how long it takes for tjt one to get out. May be I'll wake up to a new chick!
Oh wait... I don't have a brooder set up yet. I don't procrastinate. I'll remind myself that I don't procrastinate tomorrow.
Congrats on the pip!

Hi all!

GR... Hope Adam's work goes better today!

Vicki.... Nice Pic! LOL

Bf4m..... Congrats on the pip!

The little kitten was doing good most of the day, even got a chance to feed off mom. This evening he seemed a bit week again. I'm going to try to find him to feed him again in a little bit. Hope he didn't go under my son's bed again.

A friend that lives in Hawaii messaged me on FB about a weird chicken problem. Seems when they went to let the chickens out one was sitting on the roost and as he put it.... "it's head was dead but the body was still alive" I questioned that statement. And he said the head was in full rigger, hard and couldn't move eyes, beak, or head, but it was still breathing and the body seemed alive. He said it looked healthy, good color, no spots. No sign of any illness before. Any ideas? He did kill it because, well, dead head

Well, that's it for me... night all!

Cind, that just sounds so WEIRD.....

Up at 5:30 this am so I could make Irish Soda Bread for my youngest DS to take to school for some kind of Heritage potluck. I hope it finishes baking soon..... I need to hit the road!

You guys are the best! Thank you so much for your offer to travel this distance, I could not ask any of you to do that.

on the hatch! Delisha glad to hear that your chics are doing good! You and Dan talking fermented feed. Will have to look into that. Holy Crap Dan thasa lot of garlic! Meal worms what kinda side did she serve with them? Banti hope you find what your looking for! Vic what salve were you refering to that you put on your moulters? Would really like to put some on Peatwo when he's done. Didn't take long to break a sweat in the woods yesterday. Think this next cool spell will be better for making wood. Think I'll pull the flat bed into the garage a put a box on it. Have a lot of smaller trees that aren't worth the time to drag all the way out and it's a pain bunching them up. But still worth cutting. Heading down to do chores at Donny's shortly will sit and yak with him for awhile. Maybe I can talk him into me making us some B'fast.

bigfam

woohoo on the pipper

remember that if your bator is running a little warmer, the chickies will form a little faster.
And they'll all be roosters!

Went to bed with pipper still just pipped. Woke up and all three eggs in there hatched!!! Three new babies, all white Ameracaunas.

I guess I better get the brooder up today LOLOLOL!

It also happens to be a 4 day weekend for the kiddos. While I didn't plan the hatch that way, it's perfect. They're looking forward to chicks hatching the whole time and getting to hold the new babies. They're already bugging about when I'm pulling the newbies from the bator. Uuuummm.... Well... See there's this thing called a brooder that needs to be ready....

Today I have 4 parent teacher conferences. Busy morning for sure! I'm looking forward to most of them. But the 13 yr old has a couple of Ds that I have to hear about. As if I'm not pissy enough about them already. Lost his itouch until they're up. Just ridiculous because its a lack of effort, not lack of intelligence!

Say, who else has a Brinsea? CC does I know. But have you noticed the chicks don't dry real well in there? Just curious...

Better go conference coming up at 8:10
