Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!

Yep, the kitties are up and playing! There is live chat too. Guess they are old enough for for homes so they opened up for adoption.
Speaking of which.... I have 2 little girls that need homes! They will be 9 weeks next Mon. the 26th. DrH is getting the boys the Sun. before. JOE.... you won't regret it...they are very people friendly and like to sleep on the bed. Don't forget kitty toys! I'm sure they will both fit in 1 cat carrier.

DH opens the coop in the morning for me and had issues this morning. I went out this afternoon and the pop door popped shut so some were trapped outside and some in. Also had 2 roos and a couple of hens in the "recovery room" (The room you go through to get to the coop). Poor Rose just hid in her nest all day. And Tumbles was backed into a corner. Still have to try to get that permit so I can get the other coop. D@mn they have such short hours!

I know there was something else I was going to say.... grrrr .... CRS! Maybe I'll think of it later...Night!

Yep.... sleep would be good.

230 in the morning? wow! don't some of you sleep? By 830 at night my butt is dragging and I am wishing for bed. When we go out is it pure torture to stay out past 10. I start stressing for my bed!

Good Morning Everyone! Cindy there's no shortage of cat toys around here. Really looking forward to getting up in the middle of the night and stepping on them again.

Jim I just know you made that 48" a little bigger. Bryans FIL built a trailer and made it exactly 4x8. What a PIA! Bigz congrats on the 8ptr! And good job helpin others fill their freezers! Not much shootin around here. Think with all the thinning that the DNR did in this zone the population is way down and hunters are going elsewhere. Have yet to see a deer go by in a trailer. Dan 9 out of 10 voices in my head say don't shoot. BL4 hope your cold goes away quickly and hope anyone else that's sick gets better soon! Carol forgot to mention that it sounds like your friends are going to be buying their eggs.

Something for FT too but? Cleaned and reassembled Donny's chimney yesterday what a clapped up mess! Told him next summer we're gonna do it right.

Bleh.... going to veg out today. Sitting here with my coffee and one of my cats (that likes to sit on my typing arm). A lot to get done for Thanksgiving but it is stuff I can pace out through the day.

Picked up a dress for the party on Etsy. It is not vintage 50's but it LOOKS vintage, and I should be able to wear it again.

Now I have to figure out my hair......

Time for a refill.

good AM< coffee half gone and down to about body temp..

Yes, DrH, the width is 49 inches.... I have all the side rails on, and have to put 6 short vertical pieces on yet.. make the front and rear gates and it should be done.. then I have to fix the lights.

I would have had it finished yesterday, but DD#1 brought a small chest of drawers for me to beef up and re-inforce.. what a cheap piece of sh!t that was.. I could never build anything like that and have the guts to sell (or give) it.. she picked it up at a rummage sale for $5.. I told her they should have given her $5 for taking it.. One drawer in particular,, 19 inches wide, was warped so bad.. setting on the table,, one corner was raised 1-1/4"

Brent, Kudos on your mini grand slam.. Next year go for a fox, hawk, mink and owl..

Hardly no shooting going on around us either.. I took a 30 mile drive on Sat and saw only 2 cars parked near the woods..

Good Morning!

Just popped in from camp to get a nice hot shower, check on the dog and chickens (Neighbor is watching/feeding them for me)...

Still haven't shot the big one yet. I've been seeing plenty of does and a lot of non-shooter bucks. I did see a "kinda" nice 8 pointer but passed in hopes of seeing a better one... I think I'll pop a doe this afternoon for some good meat. It's been a relatively slow season up here - a lot of people are shooting small 8 pointers (by small, I mean with a less than 10" spread). I may have to join that club if something doesn't come rambling my way!

On the chicken front, I lost my beloved Rooster Bert, a Barred Rock and a Red Star to a Mink attack. The little critter just ripped the heads off and apparently drank the blood as there was very little blood. I managed to trap the little killer in a live trap and brought him to a mink farm just up the road. Although I know what they are going to do to him, I just couldn't bring myself to kill the furry little bastage. The rest of the hens didn't lay for three days!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this warm weather....

Regards,

Tom

Good beautiful morning all!!!!!!

WOW!!! I don't check in for a bit and I'm 3 pages behind! My Christmas present (aka the new Kindle) arrived by UPS late yesterday. So far it is just amazing!!! The screen is incredibly easy to read and I love the touch. Got a feeling once the snow flies I am going to spend a lot of time roaming thru the thousands of free books to read or playing with the tons of great apps and games. I even have a bunch of free money to buy apps etc. (many are free)
Problem is it does just about everything my laptop does (last year's Christmas present) that I need doing anyway and I hardly ever used the laptop in the first place because I went for the biggest screen so the thing is just too heavy. So now I have to talk my hubby into letting me give my Christmas present (laptop) to one of my granddaughters (but honey, they need it at college

) I even stumbled across a deal that with coupons, rebates, etc. I was able to get an $80 case for the Kindle that incl. a bluetooth keyboard (the new kindle is set up with both bluetooth and Skype!) for $12!!!! That's my equivalent of shooting a 10 pointer!!! SCORE! hehehehe.

CC~the NuStock is working but my poor Crockpot was so bald in the back end, combined with I think somebody else is still picking 2 her red butt and she is still in her moult, yadda, yadda, yadda, so get the picture. I keep spraying her with blu cote to hide her red butt when I remember but probably haven't done it as much as I should. At least her skin looks really good. Other problem is she still has a bit of a pasty bottom but that too is much better.

All you folks with low egg counts, so sorry for you BUT I still have feathers everywhere and found 4 EGGS from 3 hens in 1 nestbox yesterday pm. Still trying to figure that one out

Do you get the size of the egg on the right? It is about the same size as a robin's egg. Got that? Ok, now. These 2 eggs are from the same hen! My BS hen, Soup. The egg on the left is the size she normally lays, well actually for her, it's a bit small. This happened shortly after she started laying again after moult and full worming. (she was the one I was hoping would delay her return to production because of sluffing/blod spots occuring in her eggs~which seems to have cleared up by the way) I have seen a lot of "misfires" (rubber shells, etc.) from these girls, especially when I first got them, moult, etc. but this is a first!!!

Ok, so, I just cracked open the tiny egg, very hesitantly, (remember she had been wormed)

and inside I found a very thick white and a tiny, slightly malformed yolk, but otherwise normal egg!
