I just noticed that the one white has a patterned chest. I almost overlooked it when feeding them, I first assumed it was dirt or something. After a second thought, there's nothing in there that would stain a bird that color. And I can't imagine being that big of a spot of poo from a button.

Anyone have any idea what's going on with this bird?

is it possible it's a very very minimal splash marked bird? that'd be my guess.

If my guess is right though, it is NOT the same gene as the white gene (according to zebra finches research). If that was me, i'd be lookin up the splash buttons genetics and see what you could breed it to to find out if it truely is a splash. Tho if I remember rightly splash is recessive which means you'd have to breed it to a splassh to get splash. get yourself a splash the opposite sex of that one

I'd laugh my butt off if it was a splash. After ordering 24 eggs with no splash hatching out, I *just* paid for 50 with a possibility of splash. Who knows, this could be though. The breeder has three "white" birds in his flock, and any of them could possibly have spots that I haven't noticed...

ETA: I'll try to breed it to a splash. If it doesn't breed out splashes, then I'm going to breed the offspring back to this bird to see if I can get a repeat of whatever the heck this is.

hehe! I hope you get atleast three splash, that way you can try to mix it with that-a one. I could EASILY see how someone would look over a splash with that lil bit of silvering on it!
