Woke up this morning to a barking dog and a skunk in the chicken run

A gun with a silencer.

Yeah, I know. Most people don't have that option. I was just kidding. If you trap t, please don't relocate it. If you must relocate it, ask wildlife rescue people to help. Otherwise, it just gets dumped into another predator's territory or near somebody else's property to become their problem. Disease is also spread by relocating/dumping wild animals.

edited to say: Darn it. I just saw the silencer was already suggested.

Animal Control used to put out poisoned eggs for problem skunks.
And if you use a pellet gun..........the smell will run YOU off. Anything, other than a surprise head shot from a rifle, will make it spray.

That is funny that is the first things I thought of as well, A SILENCER

Well I guess a trap may work too but target practice would be fun.

Even before we had chickens, we had skunks around. Once when my 2 year old was out in the yard I watched a skunk stroll from the backyard into the front where she was playing. I was in the kitchen watching her and there was a skunk between me and my DD! I was able to go out and get her and the skunk strolled back into the back yard.

When I started calling to get rid of it, it turns out that no one does that. If it is dead, someone will come get it, but live skunk? That was our problem!

Luckily, the skunk disappeared and was not seen or smelled again. We didn't do anything, but it was gone! Whew!

Heavy duty slingshot and marbles.

And then for my bath? Tomato juice? I think I would be better off with a compound bow and arrow, I might actually hit it then! LOL

Well, I had this problem with skunks living under my summer place in the mountains. They moved in during the winter when I wasn't there to discourage them.

Well, somebody told me that they really like dog food. So, I put out some every night. I moved the dish a little farther away every night. Finallly, I had them eating about five houses down the road under the house of some banker.

That would be the same banker that down sized my wife after forty years in banking.

I think it is a good idea to buy several bags of cement and dump them around the coop and run. Spray with water and let harden.
This way a digger has no chance of entering.

If you go to a store that carries fishing and hunting supplies, you can buy fox urine there. Many hunters use it on themselves to camouflage their own smell when hunting.
Phew!
