That's been our hope since we put him in a stock car at 11! Used to really have a shot, had the talent, the solid family, the experience, all the good racing stuff, the wins under the belt, the smiling, polite, photgenic kids that wins sportsmanship awards, clean cut sponsor likeable kid, that USED to be the criteria..USED to be...now a pure thug kid can get a professional ride if the money is right...money is the door opener, buy your way in no matter what qualities you bring to the table...the world shifted on Travis' way to this goal and someone the good guy moved from the front of the line....guess that's life all over....and as he says, "maybe I'll be a local legend" ....maybe so, kids are resilient.

Just saw this thread for the first time and read right through it! Looks like Travis is off to a great start...wish and luck and keep him safe! I guess the road trip will have to start on a monday and end up at a speedway?!

We've been wondering how Travis has been doing. I have dial-up, so its hard for me to try and view the site he has.

Thanks for asking! Here is the race track link.. http://www.fayettevillemotorspeedway.net/ less graphics than Travis' photo-based freewebs page...he is leading the points although we are stuck on that only one win this season...alot of seconds and top fives but also alot of flukey motor woes this season. Currently he is a paid driver for someone else..whoo hooo for us!!..no car expense for us and he gets 20% of the purse. I think we have 8 more races this season and would like for him to win the points championship and then next year move into a super late model and hopefully run the Lucas Oil Series and the Carolina Clash..I think Lucas Oil is televised so that will be pretty cool..it's a step below the common NASCAR races..he really is showing alot of good skills this year and getting some remarkable press...keeping our fingers crossed that he actually does get a NASCAR ride. well done! If you ever feel like traveling we have the pensacola motor speedway .. come on down and give us a visit.. I'll even share my backyard chickens to make you feel more at home.. I believe the snowball derby is pretty big around here... people even skip the blue angels when they are in town.. LOL
