You were before kinda thinking Sophia might be the next to go? Nevertheless, it's so sad to lose one :hugsNice idea to continue the name❣️ It means "wisdom"...
Oh, no no no - Sophia passed a few months ago! Sorry, I may not have mentioned it - it’s been crazy stupid year work wise….. I value my chicken and horse time immensely.

This year I had Petunia, Sophia, Penelope and Red pass away. Granted the last three were very elderly, so I expected them to pass away. Petunia was a bit of a shock. But she did have health issues. So I guess she had something going on for a long while.

I can re-use the names of Sophia and Red as they really deserve to have their names remembered.

Even Penelope. Petunia is a bit harder she was only a year old.

This little one is Red as she has red feathers coming in on her head and neck.

Chickens that fly exceptionally well is one of the reasons we chose Silkies ~ they don't fly well. Game birds have a wanderlust ~ being a lot less domestic minded they may wander again. They did originally leave their yard to choose your nice setup after all, didn't they 😄 Smart birds❣️
I can’t count on neighbors to save my wild birds every day! I think you get my meaning. The rooster Mr. Wyandottey chases the girls everywhere. My problem is with him. :he

Good morning. I was trying to get caught up on this thread. Not saying y'all are talky but I could read a novel in the time it takes to read the last 24 hours of all y'all's adventures in chickening.
I needed a hug this morning and Janie you didn’t disappoint! :hugs

Awwww so cute, I love this age, they get more bold and start flapping around and getting into trouble more 😊♥️
Kelly I hate when I’m holding a bird, and she decides to flap her wings right in my face! Dangerous and my eyes cost $4k each. Chickens have no concept about money. :barnie
