wondering about brahma bantams

Does anyone have brahma bantams? I did some reading about them on the internet, but I'd rather hear first hand about them. Gentle, good layers/mothers, hardy, etc?

Hi, I have some right now that are the sweetest things ever. But I've had some in the past that were not friendly. I think they vary a good bit in personality.

They lay a larger egg than most bantams but don't lay a lot. They're very good little broodies (very pretty to look at with chicks too). Anyway, I love the ones I have right now. If they were all like these, I'd recommend them without reservation.

First strain I had were brutal, second strain are very gentle. 2 things should come to your mind as soon as you say "bantam".

1) small eggs
2) not as dependable of layers as production birds. They were bred for size and color not production.

I enjoy mine but I'm not into egg production. That's a side benefit. If you plan on dressing any extra roosters, don't expect to feed a lot of people on one bird....

I have a light brahma mantam, and she is very mellow, and my best bantam layer.
I am quite happy with my bantam sized eggs, and think it's funny that people constantly ask me if you can eat them/do they taste the same/are they big enough to eat.
