We recently got 5 chickens and 2 ducks for our first time ever trying something like this. 4 of the chickens we picked for egg laying and the 5th my wife picked cause it was cute.

We bought all of them from IFA and the cage said the bread was Bantam but didnt give much more info.

Can anyone tell us if she is a rooster? Or just very pretty

We got them from IFA at the beginning of April about the second week I believe and they had just come in as chicks.

I'm not expert, but I'd think you'd have red wattles by now if that's a boy. We have some 7 weeks old bantam pullets that have combs similar to yours - the same cockerels that same age also have some developing red wattles. I'm thinking girl if you don't see those wattles.

The splotchy red coloration over the shoulders and wing bows with large red comb all indicate roo. Probably an Old English Game Bantam (OEGB). Not sure what his color would be classified as though.

Oops - I was definitely wrong. After going out to look I see that our OEGB pullet DOESN'T have much of a comb at all, but the cockerels have red combs like yours does. I'm with them in thinking boy. :)

cant go completely off of wattle and comb sometimes, look at its coloration see those deep red patches on the wings? those patches on any chicken will indicate a cockerel 99% of then time.

his coloration looks like its a black breasted red old english game bantam cockerel...thats a mouth full lol
