and I am sure its frustrating to her as well because she keeps saying "I have the squirts!". This week I will be going to the doctor and see if this is a medical problem because it has been ongoing for so long, a year, doing this, even with treats, displining, grounding her, no treats, taking one toy each time she makes her mess, making her wash her undies, catching her in the act and put her on the pot, praises and now nothing is really doing anything. So our counselor thinks if that is going on so long, it may be a medical problem. So check out everything before doing some drastic measures. So hopefully we can get it resolved. It gets so old so fast. She even WEARS it when she goes out to play and constantly soiled herself roughly twice or three times a day. UGH!

You sound like you have things under control to me!!! My daughter started potty training around 20 months, she was all about it and was doing great, but would have accidents when she had panties on?! So we just put a dress on around the house and she wore pull-ups when we went out! Well, one day out of the blue when I was REALLY busy w/ finals she started this thing where she would pee on the floor, come get me and show me, she was really just doing it for attention because I was busy writing a paper, but geeez it drove me crazy!!! Luckily we have marble floors so I don't have to worry about staining or smell. Good luck, I hope things get better!!!

Poor baby, it does sound like a medical issue

I can remember as a child having several accidents beucase I would try to hold it too long while I played, but it sounds like your little one even has a hard time holding it... But my goodeness 2 or 3 times a day! Tht seems excessive!

When my children were going everywhere but there pants or the potty, I went out and bought the latest toy they wanted. I then installed a shelf above the potty. when they went in the potty they got the toy to play with until they had an accident. When they had a accident they had to bring the toy back to me and I put it on the shelf. they got the toy back the next time they went on the potty. This work well and quickly for my children. Just never scream and keep you cool. Good luck.

OK this is moving to a TMI point but i will share anyway..
I am now a grown woman..and no longer do this BUT when i was younger till I was about 10 i had issues with poopin in my pants...

it was nothing medical (so they thought) but when I gotta go I gotta go..I get little to no warning even now as an adult but i have learned that when i go places and I eat within an hour i am going to need to go to the washroom. I can tell you where every public rest room is in the city and even along the highway to my moms (2 hour drive away) i make a point of knowing what grocery stores have public rest rooms and where the clean ones are.
They cant find anything medically wrong with me though its just the way my body works..

So far, he has not pooped on the floor since. He did poop outside once.

I went through the whole "animals pee and poop outside, people do it on the potty" business. We also are letting him use our bathroom again. We may hold off on cutting him off from it until he's no longer running from the toilet when it flushes. We are also practicing flushing his toilet to desensitize him from it. I think he's entered his afread of everything phase because he's started running to me from all sorts of silly things like knocking over a stool to the wind blowing lighter toys around the back yard.

I'm just hoping he's grows out of it fast. This isn't the boy I've known for three and a half years.

Thank you for this! My 8yo DD is like this - she would have poop and pee accidents for so long and still sometimes does, but not like it was when she was younger. She is ADHD, so I thought some of it might be not paying attention. But she seems to go from 0 to emergency in no time flat! Nothing medical wrong with her either except occasional constipation.

Your post reminded me of a potty story about my brother. He didn't have much trouble with training, but long after he had been trained he was terrified.

"Mommy, mommy, mommy, there's a monster on the potty!"

"Now son, you know there's no such things as monsters."

"No, mom MONSTER! Monster on the potty!"

"Ok, let's go see this monster."

There on top of the toilet seat was a large land crab flexing it's claws. It was mating season and one had gotten in the house. Mom chased it out with a broom. It is the kind of thing that can traumatize.

Now that is one good reason for him not to be on the potty!

DD still does it. So I let the doc know about her problem and will arrange for her "problems" when she goes for her school exam this fall.

Patience is all I can take for now. I would hate myself in taking drastic measures if she does have a medical problem.
