As for "not really allowed to have duck".............if your local town ordinance prohibits owning/keeping poultry, I would image you are out of luck. Somewhere along the way a neighbor is gonna let it be known. Also, the permit does state that a DEC official could come and check that you are complying with the requirements.

Federal Game Wardens always did my inspections at random. They dont mind waiting if you arent home either!! LOL
Came home many times with truck loads of Wardens sitting in the yard. They were always nice, but to the point and thorough.
In addition to just keeping the permit, you have to give you seller a copy of the transfer papers, keep a copy , mail in all the rest to the USDI. Then at the end of the year, you have to file an anual report of all deaths, purchases, hatches, sells, etc, basically show them your full year inventory. Not really a big deal, just a lot of paper work.
Also, I believe 1lpoock was referring to woodies not being a domestic duck with the xotic class, many class them that way... Just meaning, these arent barnyard pets.
